Lt. Col. Alex Vindman has been fired from his job on the NSC and was escorted out of the White House by Security. "The truth has cost Alex Vindman his job."

I feel so bad for the guy. As he said in his testimony his family moved to the country they thought would uphold the law and justice. Can't imagine how he must feel right now.

Yovanovitch retired
Vindman fired

I wonder who's next.

The Coronavirus is worrying, but it is not really as bad as the news wants to let on. It is basically a really bad flu. In 1st world nations it will stress our healthcare system, but we will be able to successfully treat all but the most infirm.

Off-topic, but I at first thought it would blow over without much impact on the west (translation: without much impact on _me_!), but now I'm not so sure.
I mean, maybe the West could keep the lethality rate down, but if China is having such trouble controlling it, what would it do if and when it reaches major population centres in poorer parts of South Asia or Africa?

And it's already starting to have an economic impact on China and hence on everyone, so the economic impact might be significant even if it doesn't kill many in the developed world.

I don't know how one judges these things. The trouble is it's hard to go by 'past experience' because the world is constantly changing, so you can't work out probabilities . The world is becoming more-and-more interconnected plus we keep moving into areas of the globe that previously were undisturbed, encountering new diseases. Each such event is kind-of it's own new thing.

At the very least if this causes economic harm that will have political effects. And the last thing the world needs is another reason for people to view foreigners and immigrants with suspicion or fear.

Don't worry, CNN will hire him, haha
Look at this man, look at yourself, and try to find point in time where you went wrong in life.

"I also recognize that my simple act of appearing here today, just like the courage of my colleagues who have also truthfully testified before this Committee, would not be tolerated in many places around the world. In Russia, my act of expressing my concerns to the chain of command in an official and private channel would have severe personal and professional repercussions and offering public testimony involving the President would surely cost me my life. I am grateful for my father’s brave act of hope 40 years ago and for the privilege of being an American citizen and public servant, where I can live free of fear for mine and my family’s safety. "
His decision may not have cost him his life, but it sure did cost him his job.

"Generation by generation". Are you forgetting the ivy league study that showed conservatives are already out-reproducing leftists? That was a few years ago and the fun is just beginning. Leftists will die out with their generation and conservatives' ideals will live on by having the majority of kids. Also betting on Hispanics, who are conservative culturally, to always vote blue is pure naivete by the Dems.

Well that's a bit silly. It's well-known that conservatives, at least _religious_ conservatives, have more children. That would include conservative forms of all religions, most of which don't play well together.

But it's also known that the children of conservatives have a tendency to 'defect', particularly moderate-conservatives (i.e. not Amish or Islamic fundamentalists or Ultra-Orthodox Jews), whose children will often move to the wicked big city and turn liberal.

The question is how those two factors will interact. And in any case, you might not be so keen to gloat about 'lots of baby conservatives' if those conservatives turn out to be the wrong religion from your point-of-view. But I guess all you hard-line conservatives just want us moderates and secularists out of the way so you can all start fighting each other to the death.

Its the reverse Stockholm Syndrome : These people look at the shitty character that is Trump, the shitty spine that is Trump, all the shitty things that has been said by Trump, the shitty things done by Trump .... and they identify ... Hey if a TRUMP can be pres, maybe I am not so bad after all. He is one of me. He gets me. He gets me and my deprived urges.

Come on we all know this is true. Deplorables? Its shit people and a cancer to other people.

There has to be some sort of law against retaliation that applies here.

Who in this administration is going to enforce it and tell Trump he can't do that even if there are laws which I'm sure there are.

"It's also known that the children of conservatives have a tendency to defect".
Data says that's wrong. Did you miss this part of the article?
And those children, this study and others show, commonly follow the politics of their parents.

Keep telling yourself that. Meanwhile the Census people tell a whole different story-

The GOP is almost as white as a freshly fallen blanket of snow... and the base wouldn't have it any other way.

Please tell us which laws this violates? He's a disgruntled employee not a whistleblower. Sorry, no protections outside of employment law. For all we know, he's leaving voluntarily.

pssst. Let me let you in on a secret - minorities can be conservative too as I can personally attest to. Your ideas will die out with you. My kid will be running the world with other conservatives. May as well just save your time posting online and partake in whatever meaningless hedonism leftists like to do (netflix n chill? pr0n? video games? alcohol? gambling?).

The Army is bigger than Trump. They know Vindman told the truth & so do you.
Ahhhh sure he did. /wink /wink Regardless of the "truth", he admitted to being insubordinate. Do you know what happens in the military when you're insubordinate and try to do things outside of the chain of command?

He's still an Army officer. I'm sure they can use his talents elsewhere.

I really have to wonder about his career prospects though. You’d hope that the Army would still be able to promote him when it’s earned, but given Trump’s interventions with Gallagher and how Navy leaders were pushed out when they disagreed, you really think someone in the army would stick their neck out for Vindman??
