“If Trump arrives along this road [to Damascus], everything will become normal with him too,” Assad said, according to a translation of the conversation. Putin then quipped that Trump would jump at the offer and if not, he’ll convince him to visit the country’s capital. “It will be repaired… invite him. He will come.” Assad replied that he’s ready to invite Trump. Putin then smiles and says, “I will tell him.”

The claims of Trump being Putin's puppet have been around since 2016.

In the last 3 years, everything that Trump has done has been for the benefit of, or at the direction of, Russia. The GOP is in on falling over for Russia's favor as well (they even visited their boss' country on the 4th of July; https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a22063027/republican-senators-russia-4th-of-july/).

And, this is deemed as perfectly acceptable by the Rightzis.

Sad!

Trump only has the "best" friends. Not best friends, but THE "best" friends. They play him like a fiddle.
I am still up in the air about him being a useful idiot.

I would say he is a compliant and complacent idiot. His reasoning for being so pro-Putin is either black mail, money or both.

And even if Trump comes out and declares; "Yes, Putin has been black mailing me!!" - Putin doesn't lose... anything. He still has American conservatives in his pocket.

No, not only the GOP... but, American conservatives:

He obliviously isn't paying/blackmailing these limp dicks. But, Putin / Trump is sending the appropriate messages to get them to fall in line and outright betray their own country.
