Thats a really good question. Why didn't GOP lawmakers in congress set party aside and actually have a trial? Or allow evidence to be brought forward? Could it be incompetence of the GOP or were they actively trying to destroy our democracy? They are responsible. The information action was there, yet they chose to forgoe a trial or see evidence. That my, wishfully insightful friend, is the real scandal.
Isn't it quite obvious, particularly after the Pubs response to the insurrection that the fix was in from the get go.

Meh, I’m not buying the “40 year asset” bit—and I even believed half the Steele Dossier. Yes, Trump cultivated various relationships with “connected” Russians over a long period of time. But I don’t think the Kremlin had a long-term “Manchurian Candidate” strategy around Trump. I think at the earliest they saw him as a way to make inroads with GOP and American policy beginning in 2012-2013, and obviously saw him as the preferred alternative to Hillary in 2015. They definitely sought to leverage his existing relationships, debts, and his ego (Trump Tower Moscow, Miss Universe etc.)
I don't think the Russians would have minded either candidate. Trump was likely supposed to play disruptor and run a standard campaign that basically mimicked Obama's but tailored to a different audience, cause some chaos, throw some dirt(Ted Cruz certainly felt that), and ruffle up the "standard politician" that eventually would duel Hillary. 2016 was a no-win election, a money stooge was going to take office

The ex-KGB agent could have snitched more though. Give a nice long list of all the "persuasions" the Russians tried to other guys, because Trump in 1980, was not politically relevant, only monetarily relevant. For a country with many masterful chess players, it would be foolish for them to just target Trump. No doubt Washington and other elites were also targeted.

The article did state that the Russians were not doing this long-term plan to make him president.

Trump just gave them money for the majority of his life, and his presidency is the sole reason Unger has written this book.

Blaming Russia for Trump would be the easy way out. I would never give the Soviets that much credit or creative ability for creating something like a Donald Trump. No... Donald Trump is of his own creation. We need to blame Trump, and not Russia. Donald Trump is the problem, his delusions are the problem, his sick perverted mind is the problem, the fact that 70 million Americans would fall for his con-job and vote for his lies is the problem, the evangels rallying around Donald Trump is the problem, the republican party is the problem. As much as Putin would love to take the credit for Donald Trump, it's not Putin. It is those 70 million Americans.

Did you get that from the Dossier?

Hey traitor! Just testing the waters to see if you can show your face here again? Or have you relegated yourself to one post and run type of person now?

I'm just curious when you started hating our democracy? Was it before trump ran for the president or when he became president?

The rare sportage post I read and responded to. I think there's some truth to what youre saying, but Russia's psyops abilities are well known. Trump is an ez target, and this stuff is totally believable. I would say that we should place more blame on our voters for choosing willful ignorance, and doubling down on the rejection of facts

Full seminar on how subversion works not just with communists but also touches on how western corporations use similar psychological tricks to get you to buy things you don't need.

Given your opinions on this message board, I'd say democracy is not something you believe in. You seem to be more in line with Chinese Democracy or Authoritarian. Whichever way you wish to phrase it.

Does that fulfill your minimum posting requirements?

If you are defending Trump, you are not defending democracy.

You support Trump, who spurred on sedition through false claims, and a party where members either actively encouraged that sedition or are too afraid to challenge it.

Until you reject Trump and the current crop of Republicans, you're in no position to talk whatsoever. You're a disgrace to your country.

I don't think the Russians would have minded either candidate.

Which is very strange. The grudge Putin had against Hillary has been well documented, and the Russians weren't shy about who they preferred either. Committing fraud, theft and conspiracy for one candidate and not the other would seem to indicate a preference, no?

Putin didn't want noted Russia hawks from Obama admin and before to be in Trump admin. Trump changed his personnel plans accordingly. Do you really think Hillary would have listened to a foreigner about who she was allowed to put on her staff? If yes, show your work.

The ambivalence you're pointing at has never existed to the best of my knowledge.

Hey, let's be fair now. Bullshit is just as committed to cowardice as he is the treason of still supporting King Donnie the Twice Impeached.

What no one seems to have noticed...by "asset," the Russians simply mean "useful idiot," something that's been said about Trump since 2016.
