“I’m trying to help you with your tax status,” Graham is heard saying in the recording. “I’m sorry the government’s so f—ed up. If I get to be president, white men in male-only clubs are going to do great in my presidency.”

Grand Old Party, indeed.

Wait - I thought the GOP wanted to reach out to minorities and women and whatnot,.. whats up with Lindsey??

Oh, and since some of you are allergic to MSNBC, hopefully this Washington Post link is at least 'safer' for you; http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...and-male-only-clubs-but-he-probably-shouldnt/

EDIT:
#1, it is a joke, didn't mean to misrepresent - my fault.
#2,
But if you are a Southern white male senator, it's probably not the best idea to tell a joke that touches on race, gender and privilege when your party is struggling so much with people who aren't white males -- particularly in the South.

Is / was the senator OK with saying what he said? Even if it is a joke?

He means rich white men who outsource to countries without human rights or to illegal aliens who can't call the cops

This is just a case of liberals reacting in horror to the CBD, a horror that a man of such importance could show such symptoms of being brain dead. Why can't liberals realize it's a good thing if white men do well.

All Graham is saying, if he were in charge, is that white CBDives could relax a bit. He would be able to assure them that as progress is made for Blacks, women and other minorities, this progress won't come at their expense, that they will do well too. Nothing that is being done to improve the lot of these others had to change because none of it is now skin off white males noses, except that it is. Graham just knows that they will believe HIM and only somebody like HIM when they say it. Everything is just a matter of perception. It's human to feel better with a good strong father figure. Keeps the children from bickering.

Jeez man, misrepresent much?

From your article:

The joke was made several weeks ago at a meeting of the Hibernian Society of Charleston, an Irish-Catholic charity group known for hosting politicians to give irreverent speeches, Graham confirmed to CNN, which was given the recordings from two separate state Democrats after an anonymous Gmail account sent it to them.

To be fair, he did claim the remarks were sarcastic jokes offered in the spirit of a roast, which I am fully willing to accept. So we shouldn't dislike Lindsay Graham because of bigotry, we should dislike him because he apparently sucks at telling jokes. "If I get to be president, white men in male-only clubs are going to do great in my presidency." What kind of bumbling-ass punchline is that?

You guys should just let them circle jerk for a while....I actually enjoy seeing them flail about whipping themselves up into an incoherent frenzy.

Isn't saying 'you guys' sort of like trying to create a new anti-circle jerk within a circle jerk? Just asking. I realize that if you condemn circle-jerking, you won't be too quick to spot your own. So know that I don't want to cast blame for you doing what others may be doing, but only to warn you of the danger that dislike of others creates, and is actually caused by dislike of the self and I would prefer that you like yourself because I do.

Great - it's an actual joke.

The man probably even has black friends, so, he clearly isn't a racist.

Nonetheless, from the Washington Post link;

Bullshit. Both republicans and democrats have been fucking over white males for some time. At least the democrats are honest about it and provide some sort of rationale. Like whites are evil and deserve to suffer under the glorious new world order.
Thats sick and racist too, but they are at least consistent with their own logic.

The kind that people with a sense of humor can pick up on.

By saying "you guys" I was referring to Fern's and highland145's posts above....and no, presenting facts does not even remotely resemble circle jerks which are based on pure fiction of the deluded.

BTW...you missed an excellent opportunity to learn something significant about yourself in your LBD thread. I was very sorry to see the path you chose.

To know the definition of something doesn't automatically confer the ability to identify it when present, especially if the thing defined is held in contempt. I hope you didn't bypass an opportunity to learn one of the dangers of being critical.

The other thread is still open and I didn't check out so if you think I missed something you can always tell me. The person who did check out did so because he wanted truth on his terms and truth doesn't care at all about our opinions. In the truth department he set himself up to fail.

You know nothing and assume everything...I was hoping for the best for you.

Thank you. I hope for the best for you too. The only problem I have is that not knowing anything I don't assume I DO know what's best for you, but I have to admit that it does look like I would be right if I assumed you assume you know how much I do.

I wasn't trying to be critical per se...I just believed that honest and direct dialog with crashtech was in your best interest.

The release of this information doesn't appear to be affecting his run for reelection to the Senate as he still has a 15 point lead in the polls.

Which baffles me to no end. How people like this lunatic keep getting voted back in speaks volumes about how fucked up our system is.
