‘Laser cat’ high school senior commits suicide

The New York high school senior whose '80s-style laser portrait with his cat became an Internet phenomenon has died of an apparent suicide.

The parents of Draven Rodriguez, 17, of Schenectady, told the Times Union that he died at home.
Rodriguez’s senior photo went viral after he insisted on having his rescue cat, Mr. Bigglesworth, in his yearbook photo. But it wasn’t to create any sort of controversy, Rodriguez said. Rather, he just wanted to be different.

Sad. No one should be stuck in a position where things are so bad that the only way out is death. RIP. 🙁

I was in a dark place once and my mom was my support. Don't think I could ever do that now.

I have conflicting feelings on the matter. If nothing else, let him be a beacon to others that suicide solves nothing and only selfishly ruins those around you.

WTF is this shit? I post a link and now I'm posting hate speech or something? Or are you a Liberal shill who doesn't like me as a staunch Conservative?

Seems like a darn good kid that perhaps just didn't have the support needed to help keep things in perspective, because what he did was hilarious.

Pretty much this. Some people like Robin Williams dealt with depression for years before eventually offing himself. Though it makes me wonder if this was a case of bullying, or perhaps not being able to come to grips with being e-famous which for some can be alot of pressure..

To be honest, I've never heard of or seen this photo before.

How is suicide selfish?

Maybe it's selfish of everyone else to want an unhappy person to continue suffering.
