You mean the public has grown tired of laughing at camouflaged clowns who don't understand grooming and personal hygiene and shower once a month and act like bigoted inbred jerks on TV?

Which makes me wonder how the ratings for Mo'Money PooPoo (Honey BooBoo) are doing?

Activist much?

This news article is basically saying people prefer watching tv shows to watch gay people?

Ratings for the major broadcast networks are supposed to be higher than the ratings for cable shows. That's the way it has always been, because those stations reach a larger potential audience. I think only The Walking Dead has ever consistently outperformed broadcast networks.

(for the record, I don't watch Duck Dynasty, nor American Idol, nor Modern Family :) )

Yes, I get it, openly gay people have been oppressed a lot in the past, in many horrific ways. But is the answer to moving forward to a better world to insult and shame Phil Robertson and anyone who is entertained by the show? Does the show promote racism and bigotry? I don't believe so.

I get the feeling those bashing the show have never watched the show either.

And clearly, many of those actively promoting Phil and Duck Dynasty must have never watched the show, either. That kind of puts the kibosh in your whole argument there.

And in what alternate reality do you live in that it is OK for Phil to be a bigot and race bash, insult and shame, yet nobody else should say a word to criticize him in defense of his unprovoked and unwarranted attacks on them?

I don't think so. What I see are activists, and people who don't like the actions of activists.

Oh my gosh, what in your life have you experienced, that would stir up all these strong feelings over Phil? There must be a reason why I don't see an evil person while you do. If there were an overriding theme to Duck Dynasty of bigotry and racism, I'd be criticizing them. Can you name one bigoted or racist thing this guy has actually done?

Here's a story from my own life - I had a grandmother who occasionally said some racist things. She'd get nervous if we were driving through an area with many African-Americans. One story we laugh about, family gathering, had the Bulls/Jazz finals on tv, Pippen & Malone were playing a very physical game, and all of a sudden out of nowhere my grandmother says "Oh, no wonder they're always fighting, they're from two different tribes."

None of us define her based on those thoughts, because otherwise she was one of the most generous, kindest people you'd ever meet who only wanted to make other people happy.

If you want to take the couple comments Phil said in that interview and use it to define who he is, I cannot stop you, but I also have the option to not respect you. And I choose not to respect you.

So somehow Phil is tied to your grandma at the hip now, so that means he is automatically not a bigoted activist? And was grandma a media prostitute on TV too, in front of millions of viewers daily, which gave her access to the media so she could spout off half cocked about her racist, bigoted podunk BS? Yea, I didn't think so. So, a valid and logical comparison to Phil and grandma's racism: NOT FOUND.

Alternate reality indeed.

And Phil's bigoted religious activist views were also well known before he ever stared in this greasy duck hick show. BTW, what part of a SERMON, which was preached and recorded in front of a large group of people, do you not understand, and makes you think a religious sermon is somehow not a form of ACTIVISM?

Alternate reality indeed. o_O

And you also admitted previously to not even watching the show, and in spite of that, you are apparently trying to define who Phil is based off one interview. Here's one of his recent bigoted sermons us activists (since you wish to mischaracterize me as one just for criticizing him) use to define who he is, which is a bigoted, religious activist.

If that's not Phil being a bigoted religious activist, then your crazy, and I don't respect you for being all cray cray.

As if your self congratulatory pandering bullshit to bigoted Phil's Duck Dynasty is somehow worthy of mine or anyone's respect.

Try post 38 in this thread.

Thanks,

They never show pictures of the two older men as preppy non-rednecks. The military picture obviously can't count.

So are the two older men legit? Or did they do a better job hiding their images beforehand.

Here's a promo for the show that preceded Duck Dynasty in 2009 and they all had the beards back then.

They have video from back in the 80's and the sons were beginning to grow their beards back then.

The show mostly follows Willie and his beautiful wife Korie -- who claims Willie was "preppy" when she married him but she hasn't seen his face without its long beard in 30 years -- as the couple tries to keep up the business his father built from scratch.
And this actually isn't the Robertson family's first soiree into television. Back in the '80s, Phil Robertson produce Duck Commander videos that featured his best duck hunts. His brother Jep still edits them.

Seems legit. I may start watching because I was genuinely worried I would be giving my viewership to posers.

I want to support the redneck lifestyle by providing my viewership, not support people posing as rednecks.

I'm quite enthusiastic to be bringing the Robertson family my viewership. I wish The Robertson Family, A&E, and myself a long and prosperous relationship.

LOL

I personally wish them well, although I'm hoping Phil at least can come to understand that gays aren't the devil and blacks were not in fact happier under segregation. One does not have to be evil to do damage, one can merely be wrong and convinced he is right.

If you want to see what is really destroying America, click on the link for the story on Bouncy's "demonic spirit" in your HuffyPuffy Post link. The link has a picture of Bouncy in a very revealing outfit, yet the actual article has video of some old fat white man preaching. Damn it, there's an unwritten social contract that if a link uses a provocative picture to reel you in, following the link will lead to a larger version of that picture, perhaps with others like it so that we may properly judge just how demonic is her spirit. Yet far too often unscrupulous web rats are using postage stamps of pictures they have no intention of ever showing you, dooming those of us with old, dim eyes to naught but an unrealized promise of Bouncy boobies. This callous sort of Devil-may-care social contract breaking is loosening the bonds of our society and teaching our vulnerable youth that deceit and trickery rather than good, honest American boobage are the true path to Internet prosperity.
