AMD xp2000; 512 generic ram
I changed the battery. CMOS is keeping up with the date now and wasn't before, but it takes a few minutes before it even thinks about POSTing. When it finally POSTs, everything seems fine - at a slower speed than it should...It won't run at 133mhz bus speed like it...
I tried plugging the W98 h/d into the second position on the primary cable of the xp machine, set the jumper to slave....ended up messing up the ntldr and ntdetect files on the xp machine. Now that's fixed, is there a certain way to plug that W98 drive in so I can get the data only...don't care...
Another version I heard:
Pirate walks into a bar with a ships steering wheel attached to his wing ding. Bartender says, "That must be a real pain; a steering wheel on your wing ding???". Pirate says, ARRRRRR, IT DRIVES ME NUTS!
play with the windows volume control settings. make sure the mic record setting is selected and turned up and the mic playback setting is turned down. make sure that any record "what you hear" setting is muted.
I've got a nice fresh install of XP on a SATA drive. I don't have another SATA drive, just a regular ATA. How about your recommendations on backup software and possible complications imaging from SATA to ATA and back.
It certainly IS a disease. It's an incurable, progressive disease. I have no doubt that if I were to pick up a drink today, I'd be dead and gone in a matter of weeks or less. DEAD and GONE! Alcoholics who pick up after a time of sobriety soon find themselves in a condition far worse than when...
While going through Prime95 tests, MSI CoreCenter is showing my +12V as 11.5 Volts.
Here's the PSU I'm using:

I think is was 11.8 or so before the torture tests began. Should I be shopping for another PSU???
btw, the machine is 3200+ Winchester testing @ 2500Mhz on a Neo2 Platinum.
I just wanted to get some feedback on these numbers to see if I'm on the right track as far as overclocking my new Winchester 3200+ on a Neo2 Platinum...

OK, I humbly agreed with you and you flamed me again. As I said, I paid $80 for XP Pro taxed and shipped. If that's wasting money then OK, you got me, I'm dumb. :disgust:
Call me dumb (jvarszegi) and call me a moron (Dopefiend) but what if Mongoo WANTS to learn about and use advanced features and functionality; perhaps in the future if not right away? With a little effort you can find deals on XP Pro and if you don't use the extras so what? And if for some reason...
I'm trying to use my old HD with all my stuff still on it on my new Neo2 Platinum and A64 3200+. I can boot to a floppy ok, but when I try to boot the HD I see the BSOD for a split second then it restarts. Am I trying the impossible?
Old box had an AthlonXP 2000; CD; DVD; SBLive; FX 5700 Ultra...
Well, I probably shouldn't mention any names at this point, but they are a high volume USA reseller and I DO have 60 days to put it to the test. Maybe I'll try to push it a little and see how it does. Hopefully it wasn't a return because it's a clocking dud or something. It's possible too that...
This cpu looked a little rough (dirty) to me when I opened it. The image on the left is right from the package, handled by the edges only, exept a fingertip sized smudge underneath the '1144'. The image on the right is after a touch up with a clean lint free cloth and a drop or two of alcohol...
i like this simple case. 120mm in the front and rear; an 80mm in the side; AND it's my favorite color.

and for some power:

or perhaps this:

You're taking a chance, jumping in and learning something new. Good for you!!! You're not a sack o' sht. You're going to run into things that'll make wonder why you ever tried this at all. When you get stumped, take a break. Walk away from it for a bit. You'll get it eventually, one way or the...
