    Need a few 120mm fans

I like the Galcialtech fans. They are supposed to push 37CFM at 950RPM at 12V, but mine is turning at 1050RPM most of the time. They are advertised to be 19DB and they are almost inaudiable. Even over the quietest CPU fan I doubt they are audiable at all.

    psu problem ??? help...

The same thing happened to me. I bought a Compucase that came with a HEC power supply, but I also bought a new much more powerful Enermax power supply. I connected the Enermax to the case, plugged it in and tuned it on. Nothing happened. The fans didn't move. I then thought something was wrong...

    case fans

I like the Glacialtech fans. They are advertised as pushing 37CFM at 950RPM (12V). Mine is at 12V and spinning at 1030RPM, and is VERY quiet. I don't know the DB or the CFM but it is supposed to be over 40CFM if the advertisement is correct. It is supposed to be about 19DB at 950CFM.

    Zalman 7000B-AlCu

How quiet is the Zalman 7000B-AlCu (the 92mm fan model) compared with the stock Intel heatsink and fan that come with Prescott or Northwood? How is the Zalman compared with the stock for cooling? Thanks.

    Graphics card tempeture

I have a Gainward FX5200 graphics card with a heatsink, without a fan. My motherboard tempeture right now with a 3.0Ghz Prescott is about 36-38C. The summer is starting so it's pretty hot, but I still think the graphics card is causing the motherboard to be so hot. The heatsink is too hot to...

    adding fan, what direction?

I have one fan blowing air into thr case in the front, one fan blowing air out in the back, and I'm going to add another fan on thr side of the case, just in the line of the CPU. Should I have the third fan blow air in or out? By the way, my Yateloon fan (came with my case) at 1800RPM sounds...

Going to change my Prescott to Northwood and going to get a new CPU cooler (eventhough the stock one is not that loud). I'm using a Compucase 6A19 case, and an Asus P4P800SE motherboard. It will be one of these cooloers: Zalman 7700-AlCu Zalman 7000B-AlCu ThermalRight XP-90 ThermalRight...

Just had POST, have some questions

OK I checked the bios now and it says the CPU is around 47-49, and the motherboard is around 35-36. I'm using stock CPU cooler, and two case fans. one pretty loud and strong, and one almost silent and doesn't push too much air. I have a Prescott but they said I have three months to change it...

Just had POST, have some questions

Yes I guess blowing in it is. I won't overclock anything (including the CPU). I have two fans in my case. one blowing air our on the back, and one blowing air in the front into the case. The front one feels very weak but supposed to move abourt 40 CFM. I don't know the temps, how do I find...

Just had POST, have some questions

OK I just assembled my new computer (first build) and everything looks ok. I got the POST and it says the right amount of Ghz for the CPU, and right amount of RAM and dual channel. I noticed a few things that I'm not sure about. The graphics card (Gainward FX5200 with passive cooling, I...

    Nevermind I figured it out

The PSU has a 20pin or 24pin connection. The motherboard uses 20pin connection. Do I need to keep the 4pin connected to the 20pin on the cable and just connect it or seperate them before connecting it to the motherboard? Thanks.

    Connecting the hard drives

    Connecting the hard drives

I read and understand SATA hard drives don't have master and slave. On my new computer I will have two SATA hard drives, one DVD, and one floppy. Do I need the jumpers at all for anything? If I do, how should I connect them? Shoud I set anything to single, master, or slave? Thanks.

    choosing a CPU

I read in several places, including RME's website, that nForce4 boards are problematic. They said it's fine for hobbysts but for heavy DAW work (which means many channels and a lot of effects) there are problems with the nForce4 boards, because of the PCI-E graphics card. I'm not willing to take...

    choosing a CPU

Well you are missing something, but you couldn't have guessed it since I didn't write it. I'm getting this computer for a certain purpose and I checked all my options and it turns out Pentium 4 Northwood is the best option, since I don't intend to upgrate for at least 3 years (I hope even...

    choosing a CPU

I'm probably gonna go with the Northwood and XP-90 heatsink. For a fan we don't have the Panaflo recommended by Thermalright, but we have fans by Zalman, Enermax, Thermaltake. What is the minimum CFM I need for the 90mm CPU fan to be safe? I don't want to risk it and use a too slow fan just to...

    Cooling for Pentium4 775

I'm getting a P4 775 and thinking of chaging the stock heatsink and fan to something else. I wanted the Zalman 7700 but it is heavier than the limit weight... I see the Thermalright XP90 and XP120 are at the right weight, but they are a little more expensive (and come without a fan). Has...

    ASUS P5P800

OK thank you very much NotquiteanooB. I will have two SATA hard drvies (NOT in a RAID array), and a passive cooled very basic graphics card like the Nvidia FX5200. I already have a 485W Enermax PSU so I think it should be ok. Thanks.

    Which audio card

Yes, that article on RME's website is where I read it too, plus on an Israeli forum. I figured that since I won't have such heavy DAW work comparing with pros, it doesn't matter really if I get AMD or Intel and norce3 or nForce4 mobo. I'll just get the one that looks like it's the most stable...

    ASUS P5P800

I'm leaning towards the Asus P5P800 right now, with a 3.2Ghz CPU. Looking in the pictures on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131511 It looks like it has very few cables come with it. Is the picture ok? Or does it miss a few cables? Just for comparison, look at...
