I'm running a Powercolor 9800 Pro video card on an AMD 3500+ system with Zalman 400 Watt PSU.
I'm trying to play Tiger Woods' 2005 Tour but after a few holes the screen goes blank and the computer freezes.
I have no other issues with the computer.
Any suggestions as to the problem?

Ok folks, the problem is solved and Windows XP has launched. As a last resort, I replaced the Rosewill 512 DDR400 (Part# RW400/512)sticks with the ASUS recommended Corsair VS1GBKIT400 modules.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my problem. You are a great group of knowledgeable people who love to help novices like me.This ASUS A8V Deluxe MOBO is going back for replacement; it just will not load Windows. I'll post if I succeed with the second board.
I think I might have a compatability issue with my Powercolor Radeon 9800 128 MB card and wonder if anyone can recommend a good card that will definitely work with my MOBO. My card works but I cannot get XP installed and with the help of others on the forum have ruled out other issues that may...
I checked with Samsung and they have the low level format utility available for download which I will do when I get home this PM. I'll keep you posted.

Overnight, I ran memtest 86+ again and it found no errors in 32 passes.
I found a brand new Windows XP SP2 that came with my Company Notebook. Ran the installation and got the blue screen of death with the message "Page fault in non paged area" for whatever that is worth.

I have a seperate ribbon cable for both the HDD/MOBO and the CD-ROM/MOBO. I might be able to borrow an XP disk, good thought! I'll rotate the memory stick.

I'll start working on this tomorrow PM, I'm bleary eyed...
I'm using flat cables. Also, I forgot to mention, I'm just using one memory stick right now to get installed. I'm thinking of ordering approved memory for this mobo. The Rosewill is not on the list. Probably made a mistake buying it in the first place.
I.ve tried 6 times to install XP with no success due to files hanging up.
Any more suggestions? Could it be bad memory though I ran memtest86+ all night last night with no problems.
Thanks in advance. I really appreciate the help you nice folks are giving me.
I'm on my third try installing files and I still get files that won't install and a subsuquent blue screen of death. I've washed and dried the disk as apecified. I know we are close here but I don't know how to get past these files that won't install.
Captain Kirk,
Everything was going as you planned, XP startedto install files but then could not install some, my retries failed so I skipped files, then the blue screen appeared killing the install at about the 55% file install level. I'm going to try again after supper unless you have some...

I'm ready to start building my new computer. The retail box 3500+ has thermal grease pre-installed on the heatsink. Is this OK to use as is or should I remove it and replace with a better thermal grease?
Another option is chucking the stock heatsink and replacing with aftermarket.
I'm open...
