What's the point of having this forum if you can't even post a question?
Instead of being a 'Class A' Ass-reaming jackal, why don't you STFU and ignore the thread if you don't feel like answering the question. No one said you had to read it or post a response if it's so beneath you to help a...
I've heard the term 32-bit operating system for a long time and have never bothered to understand what it truly means. Now that 64-bit OS is becoming more popular, I'd like to know what this means so that when it comes time for me to upgrade, I know why it's important.
I was given a very...
No matter what forum you visit; at any given time or day - you will see this happen. I used to get fustrated but over the years, I've learned to just ignore those questions.
But in this case, Uberman is a newbie and it's completely understandable. Not everyone knows what Google is - let...
There are benefits (IMO) of leaving a box running regardless of whether you use bit torrent or not. Everytime you start/ shut down the computer, you are exacting more wear and tear on the system components. Heat exands and contracts the electrical components inside and over the long-haul -...
That may have absolutely nothing to do with logical partitions. Do you get any error messages when you try to access those partitions? Does Windows correctly see the partition whic you're trying to retrieve the data from? One thing to consider is that if your friend is using an NT operating...
I remember when I was studying for my A+ certification the author mentioned power levels like suspend and standby are meant for laptops only. Which makes perfect sense when you think about that fact that laptops (sometimes) operate solely on battery power and desktop units do not. In all the...
Using XP and Office 2003. I've configured my GMail & Comcast accounts through my Outlook but everytime I do a "send & receive" in Outlook, it keeps retrieving all my messages from both the Inbox and the Sent folder. I don't care about the Sent Folder - I just want to retrieve my Inbox items...
I wish to sell something on the For Sale/Trade forum and the sticky says that one must display a valid e-mail address in the profile. So today I tried to update my profile address to display GMail address and I keep getting a error message "You do not have access to this forum". Very odd.
I...
dBTelos is completely off his rockers. $25 for that motherboard?? That is a rock solid MB with great reviews and good performance.
For a computer that's only 2-3 years old with those kinds of specs, I wouldn't hesitate to ask for $700. To Treefity, whatever you think is a reasonable price...
Good post Addikt, I agree with everthing you've said.
Good luck Tin10 - as for all the guys shitting on your thread...well that's to be expected here. It's one thing for them to disagree with you but..... well, whatever. I say keep at it.
Yes that will. However, the OVERALL TREND is that ram prices are expected to continue to fall. There are several news reports that confirm this.

What kind of BS is that? You don't normally go looking for your USB stick in a crisis when a tornado is about to crush your house. We are talkin day to day environment here.
In Iraq as a soldier or what? General Contractor? In Iraq, there are sand storms and the winds kick up a lot of dust and sand. What are the chances you'll encounter those harsh conditions here in the states. Think about it.
Dhoy,
Sorry to say it, but some of this you brought on yourself. You obviously can read and write english. You should have taken the time to compose your thoughts more clearly in your original posting - otherwise you wouldn't have this problem, would ya!
Did you ever have one of those days where you thought your parents were too tough on you or your HS was the sh*ts because it imposed all kinds of rules on you? Well stop your bitchin cuz someone, somewhere always has it rougher than you.
Look at what this high school considers as "dress code...
Are you quoting a test question like that or some study guide you used? I studied for my A+ a couple of years ago, and never once remember reading such a claim.
Go on Crucial's website and use their on-line configurator. You simply select the Dell laptop model you have and it will show you the RAM modules that are compatible. There are more expensive memory modules you can buy. But for 1st tier RAM manufacturer with an outstanding quality, you'll get...
The retail version gives you free tech support with MS. The OEM does not.
Retail - comes in fancy packaging and sleeve; and printed manual.
OEM comes with a booklet.
For me, i'd get the OEM version #1) because it's cheaper and #2) i don't need the tech support - they're all pretty much...
Bob,
Don't ever feel like you're gonna miss out on a good deal for a PSU. I bought a TT PSU unit from Newegg about a month ago, and I'm regretting it now cuz i've seen even better deals since then.
Don't make rushed decisions. Take the time to study up on what makes a PSU "a good...
Longjohn, the only way can keep your existing data and partition your hard drive is to use a program like Partition Magic.
FDISK is a all or nothing utility that works on FAT/FAT32 drives.
You're making this out to be a bigger issue than necessary. You've already been given very good advice by people like DaveSimmons & Matthias99 - guys like these have been around the board a long time, and judging by the quality of their posts, I think they are very knowledgeable people. No...
Perhaps you're right.
There is no such thing as a 133/100 module. It's either one or the other. If the memory module is PC133 - it's assumed that it's compatible with PC100 RAM.
Well in that case, as long as the used RAM is cheaper than what Crucial is offering - then it might a good option.
However, a couple of things to consider:
1) How long do you plan on keeping laptop? If you want to use this for a long time, I'd suggest going w/ the Crucial memory as they...
The PC133 RAM modules will probably work but it will operate at the fastest speed at which your motherboard will support. In your case, (w/ the Dell laptop) the fastest speed is PC100. So why bother using the faster RAM? Save yourself some money and choose among the Crucial offerings.
Depends on mostly on what you're doing. For graphics intensive appc like Photochop, the more memory the better. If you're a heavy gamer the first option would be better. For you, you said you want more computing power, so go w/ the first option.
FSB = Front Side Bus. Speed at which your...
The flat end of a USB cable is called the A and the more square end is called the B connector. Virtually any peripheral device with a B connector can connect to your PC with a usb cable - not just a printer.
Abius,
Don't you think that other first time builders/ posters would be curios to know what your original question was too so that they can learn from this thread too? Forums like this exist for the benefit of not just 1 - but for the benefit of all!
