Sweet! TONIGHT'S WOOT Saitek Executive Backlit Keyboard $19.99

IIRC, both USB and PS/2 offer 500 mA of 5V DC power. If thats not the case, both will power my external hard drive enclosure, which probably takes more power than a lighted keyboard.

*DEAD* Logitech Z560 at Walmart for $46 plus shipping

I called Walmart.com 800 number (1-800-966-6546) and I was told that they would ship the product in the picture, not the one described. I was also told this is a "possible site error". Bummer. EDIT: Spelling mistakes.

Linux: How to find out motherboard type?

What do you mean by motherboard "type"? If you mean manufacturer or model number, I don't know how to do it from within Linux. However, I'm sure you could reboot the computer and see the model in the POST info.

No sound in Mandrake 10 Community

System sounds do not work? That *may* mean that ARTS isn't configured properly (I think you mentioned KDE up there). Try specifiying manually the sound device, probably /dev/dsp or /dev/sound/dsp.

WarpSpeed- Check out This. Seems that the said printer works fine with the "laserjet" driver under CUPS. And tad214, I second the Fedora motion. I started out on Linux using Red Hat 5.2, so I can vouch for Red Hat/Fedora's easiness and newbie-friendliness. After you get comfortable, you may...

Installing Mandrake Linux 9.2 on Windows 2000 machine

Mandrake is really good about dual booting, it should allow you to resize your Windows partition (defrag first :)), and let you set up the boot loader to boot both Win2k and Linux. Its very easy to follow in the setup program, but here's a link to Mandrake install docs: Linky. Mandrake should be...

That would be a violation of Microsoft's License Agreement. One key per computer. If you want to install XP on another computer, buy another key.

Why don't you use Mozilla Firebird?

Mozilla Firebird. I heard about it, tried it out, and now use it constantly. I cannot stand IE's vulnerabilities, and it's also in Linux! :) Thunderbird is my email program as well.

XP on an Inspiron 3000 233 mhz???

You're funny. XP on a 233? The only way THAT would work is if you turn off all the neat little effects, and still it would run slow. I say either use Windows 95/98 or Linux. (I have an Inspiron 3000 266, so I speak from experience)
