yeah I had the 6750 in my shopping cart on newegg at $199, when I hit checkout it jumped to $212, and has since jumped 2 more times. Same thing with zipzoomfly. I think I'll wait a week.
Haha, I just called Intel, they didn't know if the processor would work or not. You would think coming from the horses mouth it would be a yes or no answer. Oh well, I don't mind getting a new motherboard :-)
damn! I was hoping I wouldn't have to upgrade the MB.
Aren't they suppose to be dropping the price on the older CPU's as well, like the e6700?
Thanks guys.
So will the new e6750 processor work in a MB with a P965? I've got the intel DP965LT board but was wondering if the processor will use the 1066mhz bus instead?
Since everyone that's posted doesn't even own a mac I guess I'll be "that guy" that chimes in. Now not being the typical biased Mac owner I do have a home built Core 2 machine (for games) and I use a e6600 machine at work as well. Now I haven't used a quad core yet, but I can tell you with the...
What software are you using? I can run Avid's Software Composer on my e6600 and it runs solid. I was able to do real-time DVC-PRO50 HD with real-time dissolves so I can't complain. I haven't attempted it on my e6400 yet. but I think it would run fine as well. I know you have already invested in...
Hey guys,
Has anyone seen any kind of 3rd party heat spreader for FB-Dimms that would qualify for Apple's thermal requirements. Just like anyone else I don't want to spend an exorbitant price for RAM so I woud rather buy the DIMMs from newegg and throw my own heatsinks on to save some cash...
Have you tried to load XP on it just for kicks? It works like a champ, and I did the install with the SATA fix. Pretty screaming Windows box so far. I plan on loading up After Effects and doing some Render speed tests on it against an E6600 at work.
Did you find your sony superdrive to be...
ah hell, I'll hold out for the $344 on blt, or cheaper elsewhere...only because I'm leaving town for 10 days so it's not like I'll be home to bask in the glory of my machines. :-)
Hehehehe I just ordered my 6600 from ShopBLT. They are showing estimated delivery to THEIR warehouse on the 16th. If it's late I don't care at this point. I leave for Vegas Thursday for work and won't return until the 25th so I won't be able to play with my new toys anyways. But the price was...
I was heavily considering it today too. But I went back and looked at some benchmarks and I kept telling myself, "Be patient, don't settle for anything less than what you want."
I talk to myself a lot, only sometimes do I answer back.
I think they were gone in minutes. When I got the message I was late by 10 minutes and they were gone. The E6700 was in stock for about 10 minutes after that.
Talk about no Frills, the MSI board comes with...a board...oh and 2 cables :)
If your RAM is 1.8v why not gor for the intel board, Only down side is 4 SATA, if that's a downside to you.
So to help pass the time....
What will you be doing with your old, now antiquated processor?
I plan on taking all the spare parts I have sitting around and putting together a PC to try and sell to my boss. :)
Yeah but the question is does the Intel board have such a feature in it's bios? This is a classic series board so I'm guessing it won't be feature rich.
I have that board, and I have the Ballistix DDR2-800. However I have no processor to see if this works. But from what I have gathered the MB will only support 1.8v memory. Which is stupid considering no DDR2-800 exists yet with 1.8v.
But I'm interested to see what the others have to say.
