    Re-Build #2 - Video issues

Ok. Tested with another graphics card. Still no video signal. Tried another set of RAM modules, still nothing. Next step is replacing my cpu with another that is known to work. All else fails, replacement mobo/cpu and/or PSU.

    Re-Build #2 - Video issues

The back story was pre-emptive for those that may come across this thread that helped me from the first scenario 2 months ago. The graphics card is still an EVGA 9800GT. The original was RMA'd with a factory refurb. What I was saying is the likely hood of a refub coming to me DOA is less...

    Re-Build #2 - Video issues

No one has any advice? To my experience; if the video card is dead then I would need a working replacement to verifiy... If the CPU is dead, then the mobo wont post, but I SHOULD get a signal to my display... The HDD spins up, beyond that I cannot hear any tell-tale signs.

    Re-Build #2 - Video issues

The Antec case I decided to buy (one step down from the 200 Hundred series), for my system rebuild does not have a PC speaker. Now that problems have resulted from the rebuild, I might install one. That's way off topic though. The symptoms- No Video Signal. Since my last round of fixes and...

    How possible is it...

Direct replacement PCB from Gigabyte as well as CPU from AMD.. Symptoms: Rebuild day today. New (tested) PSU and direct replacements installed. Built completed, power-on----- NO POST! Low probability of DOA on PCB and CPU, although still a possibility. However, what are the chances of a...

    PC Self-Down last night...

Cleared the CMOS with no success of boot. Further update: Forgot to mention that there are NO beeps whatsoever after power-on. I have heard this before with SOME mobo/cpu setups that if there is a CPU fault/failure the MOBO will still POST... Since there is no POST of the MOBO and not...

    PC Self-Down last night...

Quite a dilema I'm in right now. Was up late last night doing some work, all was fine. I wake up and my computer is down. I leave my PCs up 95% of the time. The build I'm referring to, in my sig, has only been down three times in about the past 4 months. Once for RAM switch, once for...

Is Vista 64bit really any faster than 32bit?

I've been running Vista 64 SP2 for a whole 3 days now. Only gripe with the setup was only a 'quick' format option. No big deal if you plan ahead. Since then, all the apps I've used and been using for quite sometime with XP run the same, if not faster and more stable. I've been using avast...

    MS Office 2007

Well, I decided to stop fuggin around and wiped the slate clean. I got me a copy of Vista x64 SP2 and so far I'm very pleased. Just about everything has been given an immediate boost. There are some minor problems, but nothing at all that's permanent. (most of which are driver related)...

Really? Is this documented anywhere? I even went to micrshaft's website after I ran the MSO installation verification app... came up with nothing. I'll keep it in mind if I don't switch over. Luckily I still have my old rig running with Office on it-- for now. Thanks for the reply Vinyl.

Is Vista 64bit really any faster than 32bit?

This is a great topic for me to check out cus I've been frantically scouring the net looking for comparative tests between Vista x86 and Vista 64. I have noticed that most, if not all actually are basing results from the original retail version of Vista/Vista 64 and the rest being SP1. I'm...

    MS Office 2007

I know you're not insulting me with that reply... but yes. I uninstalled Office 2k7, ran a registry scan to delete any keys left behind, ran the Office 2k7 setup again and still have the same result. I'm unhappy with the installation of XP atm anyways. I didn't use the nLite copy I had used...

    MS Office 2007

I recently built a new computer, slapped on XPSP3 and ran some updates. I wanted to do some benchmarking of the new build and located a copy of SysMark. When I was all done with it, the uninstaller hung on a few of the apps. Some of which were from the Office Suite it came with. This is...

Thank you for the replies. If I do opt to upgrade the PSU, I'll be "forced" to go higher than that. That was the PSU I was going to get. The TT430 was significantly less expensive with comparable data-- hence my choice was made. I believe if anything I'll go the route suggested by...

So I've been noticing some things lately. MY system build is in my signature, but I need some clarification on a few things before I go swapping anything out. First and foremost, I've been suggested that my current 430W PSU is inadequate. However, with these suggestions comes no specifics...

    Hard Disk Health and Temps

I'd like to comment as this has been a concern of mine for years. Aside from external 3rd party temp monitors, app and bios temp readings are done how? There's no thermocouple on the Hard Drive. The BIOS PC Health screen shows roughly 40C at idle and HDTune shows between 39-41C at idle and...

Actual HDD Name: WDC WD5001AALS-00L3B2 500GB STA Drive (465BG actual) I ran PCMark05 and I was floored by the results. I have noticed though that XP Bootup and shutdown times have been surprisingly high. Not anywhere I had expected. Access times seem high and raw throughput low...

    Page Faults

Thank you. Mushkin has a great reputation and I plan on OCing with this RAM. I'm keeping my Reaper modules and getting a second matched set for future expandability-- if and when I make the move to Vista/Win7. ***UPDATE***I upped the DDRII voltage (on the board) to 2.2v and the BSOD...

    Page Faults

If only I were so shallow ;) The memory is good stuff. There's been "RAVE" reviews about G.Skill, but just the name alone scares me away. Of all the reviews, here, TH, NewEgg G.Skill is heavily mixed and it's all one-side with OCZ. I've been loyal to Crucial and Mushkin in the past. I...

    Page Faults

I have some OCZ Reaper HPC 2x2GB DDR2-1066 modules on a Gigabyte MA-770-UD3 Mobo. This mobo does NOT support modules over 1.8v but I bought some 2.1v memory anyways. (long story). I was getting some BSOD (Page_Fault) at the standard settings. I got into the BIOS and I clocked up the voltage...

KGB: As that is understood as well. I'm in the process of deciding on either an Exchange of the memory or keeping it for later on and just purchasing another set. The mobo so far is great and the BIOS features on this board are equally nice. Vista is also another controversial topic with this...

KGB, I know it's not... my post above explains the self-error. However, even bumping the DDRII voltage up from 1.8 to 2.1 there is still a bit of instability. The BSOD shows: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA TECH INFO: STOP: 0X00000050 (0x911A915C, 0X00000008, 0X911A915C, 0X00000000)

I just setup the MS Debug utility. I haven't parsed it out yet to see what it says. However, while I was checking into to things, I noticed a few things... 1) Not really an issue, but the "exhaust" fan on the rear of the case is actually an induction fan and it is blowing into my CPU fan...

    Computer freezes and multiple BSODs

I cannot provide assistance for you and I apologize for that-- we appear to be having the exact same problem(s). Mine are related to gaming as well. BSODs are random and not always occurring. In addition to above: It appears that there are several "potential" IRQ conflicts. These are reported from within Windows. However, there are no apparent issues with either the Sound driver or the Video driver (which both are on IRQ 18). I'm going to do some inspections. Computer has been...

    OCZ Reaper DD2-1066

I did quite a bit of research on this setup. Everything was well-matched. I was however a bit of a skeptic with this RAM choice. I'm been a loyal Corsair fan for many years but this time around OCZ caught my eye-- with great reviews and high volume sales. The Heat-pipe design is more than...

Take out the old! Bring in the new!

I've read numerous reviews on the TT PSUs. The 440 I bought from Newegg.com was one of the highest rated. 440w should be enough, rather the TT I have chosen is basically sh*t, from what two of you are saying. Where did Corsair and Seasonic come from? I'm asking about what I bought, not...
