well most of these beta drivers are over half a year old, BUT what I also found is this website: link
This is an official CL website and is quite informative imo. Maybe I should get one of those X-Fis....
correct me if I'm wrong but the X-Fi series simply isn't compatible with Vista, so this situation isn't gonna change until Creative releases new sound cards. X-Fi = on XP, on Vista.
installed under Vista or XP? A few games take a serious nosedive under Vista with bf2142 being one of them. Also bear in mind your CPU is probably limiting your GTS' performance.
roughly guessed, bad initial yield and the ability to disable defective units. Plus: There was no ultimate need for 160 shaders cos they took the (single-GPU-)performance crown from ATi anyway back in November.
excellent point. This is why I would advise against the 320 Mb model. Once it comes to games with large textures, the 320 Mb will reach the memory limit and swapping will slow down performance big time. lopri's 768 Mb GTX got maxxed @ 1600x1200/4AA/16AF! I believe the 320 Mb GTS has tons of...
hehe the Tracers are still cheaper than the regular ones - I'm seriously thinking about getting another pair of these for a 4-gig total or maybe a quick Ebay sale. :)
Rike you did the right thing - the Tracers are so much more sexy...
they must have updated the site, it used to be Micron D9GMH (B6-3) only on the Ballistix 8000. But since these are Crucial's high end sticks I suppose they prefer using the newer D9GMH (B6-3)s...
thanks n7 - I'll be replacing my OCZ Platinums (rev.1 6400s) with a pair of these Ballistix Tracers soon. I must admit, however, the Platinums are good modules. I do run them at 4-4-4-10 timings w/o any problems at stock voltage (Prime95-tested for hours).
My brandnew retail Seagate emits a lot of noise (this is by far the loudest hd I've had for years, so I believe there's something wrong), and it seems to be constantly accessing or recalibrating. The Seagate online drive-check didn't report errors, neither did a Windows chkdsk. Does anybody have...
was an interesting read! Even though I think a situation such as test #6 is extremely rare (then again: a 15-minute run @ full load is not considered a true STRESS test...), fact is that the ripple exceeds allowed ATX specs.
Thanks for that link!
FYI: quoting MS' download page "This build may not have the same level of support or servicing via Windows Update as RC1, and you may not be able to upgrade from this build to the final version of Windows Vista."
BTW I downloaded RC1. Would it have been better to get the 64-bit version...
"ATI X19xx series GPU's may help make a cure?"
Are we missing something here? ATI X19xx series GPU's will help study protein folding processes which is pure biology, not medicine.
Yeah, unfortunately this is true. SMP support in Oblivion and Quake 4 is a joke imo. But this is a good read: Info on Alan Wake
So, games that fit in my "scenario" are in development...
A Kentsfield setup could be quite interesting in situations such as
1) a game using threads from Cores 1 and 2 (sharing 4 megs of cache),
2) a physics engine (taking care of in-game physics) running on Core 3 AND
3) an AI engine running on Core 4
all at the same time of course. :)
"NVIDIA recently issued an announcement to motherboard companies saying that the C19 chipset will be phased out very soon and replaced by the newer and more refined C55 chipset in October. The C19 chipset maxes out at around 350MHz FSB...."
guess what: That's the reason for the delays on the...
newer bios versions of the Gigabyte boards are said to handle the OCZ's quite well. BTW I'm in the same dilemma - got a brand new system, an E6700 still residing in its sealed box, a pair of OCZ Platinums (DDR2 6400) but no board. I don't know which one's best for my components. The ASUS P5W DH...
If they accepted the MIR this would be blazing hot! If not it'd still be a good deal.
Has anyone tried pre-submitting the rebate request on this site:
