I would just buy one now or wait until the latest penryn models hit the apple refurb store. the 15 inch MBPs have penryn, LED backlighting, etc. I don't think it's worth waiting for an incremental update.
Thanks guys! That car analogy makes sense.
Corkyg, Time Machine is doing the backups and typical of mac stuff, you can't specify intervals or much of anything, really.
I recently bought a WS Passport external drive (it's based on a 250GB laptop HD). However, it doesn't spin down, even when it's idle or the computer is asleep. Since my computer is on or asleep for most of the day, it means the Passport is spinning too. Does this mean it will have a short...
Are there any PVA or MVA monitors for under $350? I've been away from the scene for a few months and it seems like TNs have taken over. Color shifting drives me crazy as I often work with 2 documents open side by side.
Your friend owes you a new monitor. Simple as that. If I damaged my friend's monitor, I would replace it out of sheer embarassment, not to mention moral values. Why was a key anywhere near your monitor in the first place?
What color does the Samsung shift out to when you change your viewing angle? Is the color different than the Viewsonic? Also, do you prefer the antiglare coating of one monitor over the other? I ask because my Dell shifts to red, which is pretty annoying and its glare coating tends to sparkle a lot.
How about the Lian Li PC-7B plus II? It is black anondized aluminum and comes with two 120mm fans. Right now it's 5 bucks off with free shipping.

PS, did you take a look at Asus's passive cooled video cards?
Has anyone ever put a micro ATX motherboard in the Lian-Li PC-7B PLUS II? Although it can fit the larger ATX motherboards, I don't know if it has the right fittings for micro ATX. Thanks,
No prob. But for the record, I'm recommending Microsoft's Intellimouse over the wired Mighty Mouse. I've used both and find the Intellimouse to be much better.
Just use whatever keyboard and mouse you're comfortable with. I use a Microsoft USB Intellimouse with my iMac. Priced at just $10, it puts the MightyMouse to shame in terms of useability and price. The Mighty Mouse has a blood-pressure raising tendency to confuse right and left mouse clicks...
Outpost is having a sale on 400GB Seagate U ATA/100 8MB Buffer HDDs for $130. I have no experience with them but maybe it's something to research if all you're doing is downloading.

If you are in the market for a Dell, you must bookmark the following bargain sites for it is not uncommon to find coupon codes for 35% off. You can also find coupon codes for sale on Ebay for a couple dollars. Although I haven't been keeping up with Dell's prices, I believe you should be getting...
Thanks for all your advice. I have taken much of it to heart. Some of it confirmed things I turned up in my research, but a lot of it was new to me. Here's what I'm looking at now. I've decreased the RAM to 1 gig and will switch to one of the aforementioned brands, the WD is now a Seagate...
I haven't built a new PC in years since switching to Mac for work. My PC is literally a 6 year old Pentium 3. How does this setup look? My idea is to skimp on graphics so I can spend more on the proccessor and RAM. However, Vista's supposed to be graphics intensive so I have my doubts. I won't...
Last week I bought a Dell 2005fpw. The product label says it's an A03 (yes, three--perhaps a new revision?) assembled January 2006 in Mexico.
My question to anyone who has used a 2005fpw before is if you've noticed a red haze over the monitor. In my 2005fpw it is particularly visible over a...
