Hmm, I guess I usually stay entertained while a BD loads. I never noticed it ....
It took 18 secs for my LG BD370 to load the Dark Knight disc to display the WB logo.
Then it took 32 secs to load the movie to show the beginning of the film. Both timed using iphone stopwatch.
May be for...
The reason why I recommended the PS3 is because it can unleash more features as new updates become available. For example, in July Sony will release an update for it to be able to play 3D content. The hardware in it has much capability when compared to a regular BD player.
On a side note, I...
I own two Bluray players - both are intro level however LGBD370 and Sammy 1600. At this price range, I would recommend getting a PS3 instead .... I regret not getting a PS3 for my 2nd bluray player.
I believe PS3 can play both MKV and AVI files.
I would recommend an LG BD player like BD 390 over a Samsung player. I have both a Samsung and an LG BD player and I like my LG tons better. User interface is much better and netflix seems to stream better as well. Both players are on wired connection for me however.
I just bought the LS HS201 for general purpose use. Man this thing is bring at only 200 ANSI lumens. Color is awesome and for DVD/blueray it's awesome. I can use it for general viewing knowing that I don't have to worry about bulb life.
At 1000 ANSI Lumen, this Samsung unit will be real bright.
I am leaning towards the Optoma HD65. Bulb price is reasonable and from what I can see in Youtube HD, video quality is great. Amazon and web reviews seems to be quite satisfactory as well.
Thanks a lot for the tips. This helps a lot. I will mostly be using the projector at night as I have a 42" plasma to use for regular tv.
Ambient light is also not a problem. I will take measurements of the room and see if a projector will work out for me.
I am thinking about getting a projector to quench my hunger for large screen movie viewing. I have never owned a projector and most projector lamps tend to be outrageously expensive. So I am looking for suggestion on a 'best bang for the buck' type projector that would at least do 720p.
Any...
I picked up the LG BD370 from the local bestbuy store. They had the Sammy P1600 on sale for $129. Salesman owns the P1600 but urged that I get the LG. He was personally not happy with the DVD playback on the Sammy.
Thanks folks!
Thanks for the posts guys.
@Sep: Did you have any issues with the firmware upgrade? I read reviews saying that the machine stopped working after it received an automated firmware upgrade.
Folks any recommendation on blueray player that streams netflix?
I am trying to stay below $200 if possible. Otherwise, it just makes sense to buy the PS3.
The models I have considered so far are Samsung P1600 and LG BD370/BD390 (if I can find this below $200)

Thanks for your responses guys. Background info: I mostly watch movies at home in plain old DVD or just regular digital cable and might play PGR2 or GT4 in xbox/ps2.
So all the video stuff I have has component/rca connection only. I don't plan on dropping big bucks on buying HDTV stuff until...
Guys I am looking to buy a projector for everyday tv usage. I saw the lumen lab evo 1.1 projector which uses a $30 bulb. It seems to have all the connectors I need. Many of you guys are experts in projectors and I want to get your viewpoint on this projector. Do you think this would be a good...
Thanks for the offer guys. My sister said she didn't want my used laptop. :(
Last time I shipped the laptop, it was through UPS. I think that's how I got screwed.
Ok guys, here is the deal, my sister lives in Toronto. I want to send her a laptop that I bought a few years ago - yes I know it's used. She needs a laptop badly and I have no use for it.
The last time I sent her a laptop, they charged her $90 in tax for a machine which probably wasn't worth...
Uberman, please post your long post.. :)
U mentioned your crown vic has a plastic air intake. Did you mean to say plastic intake manifold?
Waiting for your post. Thanks for chiming in.
Let me answer why I want it. I want a heavy rear drive sedan which runs on 87 octance to replace my last front drive sedan. Also grand marquis, crown vics or Caprice are reliable American sedans and run for a while if they weren't abused.
Hey man, if your 77 has alright miles and tranny in good shape and the price is right we can hook up. Post me a pm with pictures, prices and specs. I actually might have seen your car in CL. Is it a silver one?
So the tranny is a dog in the 92+ grand marquis? Anybody else had transmission...
I just checked online. Consumerguide mentions that 96-01 Crown vic and grand marquis used the plastic manifold. The Grand marquis I am considering is owned by my friend. I will try to get a maintenance history from him. Thanks for the inputs Black88GTA.
I have never owned an american car.. I know its sad, but I want that to change. I am primarily interested in a Caprice Classic, but also considering Crown Victorias and Grand Marquis. I want something large but not filled with luxury stuff that keeps breaking.
I know fomoco trannies are...
Wow. So many great answers. Thanks guys. I have insurance on my vehicles from American family Insurance (plus Home insurance). I will see what kind of option they will have for me and will post an update.
Well, its an underground garage with heat - I do plan on driving it occassionaly possibly total of 500miles for the next 7 months. I live in MN which has a 5-7 month winter.
Hey guys, I am planning to store a rear drive car this winter. I currently have liability insurance on it as its all paid for. However, I would like to know if there is a way to further save some money while I am paying for the storage as well.
I am thinking about reducing the liability...
wanmichael - thats a very informative reply. Thanks a lot. I was under the impression that 3.8L was the main culprit. My friend has an 02 impala with the 3.4L. I already warned him about the issue and will let him know of the cooling system sealer.
Hows the transmission on the bonnevilles? I...
Heres the deal, I am freaking interested in owning a GM car with the Fireball (3800 V6). Preferably a 4 door sedan. (manual is out of question so I will settle with automatic). I did some research in 1999 Bonneville (price was right) and found out that there is an intake manifold leaking issue...
