I just got into it with a piece-o-@#%$ Christian #$%# today.

Optimus is (as usual) right. This guy yasha is enjoying getting a suntan from the flames. When people try to speak to him reasonably, he seems disappointed, and he taunts them. I hate to criticize you, WoWo, but please consider taking your own advice. Stop feeding the troll. ;) I still can't...

What did you fantasize about becoming when you were a whippersnapper?

I really wanted to pilot a spaceship. I guess I still do, but that particular career goal seems somewhat less attainable now than it did when I was a young un.

    I beg to differ!

In the technical terminology of law, a place like the AnandTech board, which is privately owned, but which invites the public at large, would be called a "quasi-public forum" (the term "forum" is used in a broad legal sense here.) You do not have an absolute right to any and...

What does ur name mean? (ur alias, handel, screenname)

sounds painful, so why are you so loved and famous on anandtech?... chiwawa626 a question I had the curiosity to know but not the balls to ask... FFMCobalt I'm sure it was painful, but there are things that hurt more than catastrophic surgeries. Perhaps you little snots don't really deserve...

    The girl or the beer?

I don?t drink and no alcoholic but I love an occasional beer once in a while. As a former drug abuse counselor, I can't tell you how often I have heard rationalizations like that one. :|

    Just saw Memento...

Why do directors feel like they have to mess with the audience? Some viewers (me, for one) love "film noir," and adore a twist ending, even if it bites us in the @ss. I doubt that you would have liked "The Usual Suspects" either. The greatest noir twist ever, in my mind...

    Television movie "White Dwarf"

I rather enjoyed "White Dwarf," too. It was originally a pilot for a series that never materialized. The Executive Producer was the renowned Francis Ford Coppola, no less. According to the Internet Movie Database, it has not yet been released on videotape or DVD. Your best bet may be...

life as a what thing am I

If you wonder what the world would have been like if you had never existed, I suggest viewing the classic old movie "It's a Wonderful Life," with Jimmy Stewart. Every life has meaning. We are a tapestry, and each single thread has its part in the pattern.

Just got back from seeing Evolution...

I thought it was from the producer of Ghostbusters. Yep. Ivan Reitman was the director/producer who helmed "Ghostbusters," "Stripes," and -- my candidate for funniest lowbrow comedy of all time -- "Animal House." <Edit-- oops, John Landis directed "Animal...

    Home theater

Check this on CNET. The Pioneer HTZ-55DV, which was the "Editor's Choice" in this low-end category, can be bought for around $600. It's not the cheapest thing on the market, but it's a lot of bang for the buck.

What's the stupidest thing you've seen someone do to their computer.

Killbat is right. Very fishy. Maybe the guy was saving his files to floppies, and exposing the floppies to the magnets? Or maybe this is one of those "urban legend friend-of-a-friend" apocryphal stories, hmm?

I am the master of my fate. I am the Captain of my soul.

"...My head is bloody, but unbowed." You know what that line reminds me of? Not of Timmy lying under clean white sheets with a needle sanitarily inserted into his vein. That line reminds me of little Baylee Almon, the 1-year-old child in this famous and heartbreaking photo .

    WE check I.D........WTF????

Several months ago I might have agreed with JohnnyKnoxville that this was a knee-jerk reaction to a nonexistent problem, but that was before my coworker's ten-year-old son was robbed and sodomized at knifepoint by a group of other fifth-graders who were chanting lyrics from a DMX song. There...

Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway from Voyager) to Appear in Star Trek X!

    Where to buy car bras

    Where to buy car bras

tontod, these are a cinch to install. Literally. You cinch them with a self-adjusting tightening system. Unless you are a handicapped person, I wouldn't pay the dealer an extra $46 for the five minutes of labor that it takes to put one of these on a car.

why is the date here at anandtech july something

The date and time are accurate in my display. If you have somehow been temporarily transported to July 2001, remember to check the stock market and the horse races so that you can make some big moolah once you come back to the usual space/time continuum. ;)

What kind of military leader are you?

That was great! Thanks for the link, AndrewR! :) I am a bit disappointed to learn that I most resemble John Paul Jones. I always fancied myself more of a Teddy Roosevelt, somehow. Rotund, mouthy, and opinionated. ;)

It just hit me... don't homosexuals have it MADE?!

The title of this thread makes very little sense when you realize that any homosexual male who displays bodily signs of arousal in a typical men's locker room is likely to be mocked, at best, and beaten to death, at worst. Doesn't sound to me as if they "have it made."

    PDF question

Bigsmooth is right, pdf's are not programs, so an executable file doesn't make much sense in this context. However, you can convert a pdf to an html file. Further information may be found here. OK, I'm callin' out all you Environmentalist Wackos...what did you do to help Earth out today?

I felt so guilty about the environment (hey, I'm from Tennessee, Al Gore's homeland) that I collected all the "hanging chads" left over after the Presidential election and glued them together to make a Giant Sequoia Tree which is now home to a small flock of Whooping Cranes, a couple...

This might sound gross, but I need some serious input

You might want to pour some diluted hydrogen peroxide solution into your ear canal. That is what my doctor did when I had a similar nasty situation. Just pour it in, leave your head turned in such a way that it doesn't immediately leak out, and wait for the bubbling. This (I was told) helps...

    So, How's Jeremy doing?

Jeremy Allford is an example of strength in adversity. He has my admiration and my respect, and has long been in my prayers. The thread-crapping bastard who posted that concentration camp remark probably could use some prayers, too, but I'm not a good enough Christian to offer any in his...

what's the last movie you saw?

"Memento." It blew my socks off. And I have very, very big feet, so that ain't easy. What a twisty, fascinating movie. Guy Pearce deserves an Academy Award for his performance, but probably won't be nominated, since it's not a big-bucks Hollywood feature.
