Hey, I just installed the Windows 7 RTM build from Technet. I also just purchased an AverTV Combo M780 Tuner (for the analog and OTA). I already had a HDHomeRun which gave me 2 ATSC Digital signals.
But I'm having trouble configuring all the tuners in Media Center... I can get the Analog...
Hey, I just installed Windows 7, lost all my old settings. But I notice something really annoying that happens.
When I start up a program, or open a folder, Windows shows the loading icon, I can't click on anything, then I hear my hard drive spin up. 2 seconds later, my computer is back to...
Damn... thought so.
"lol who the heck told you that? ATI has supported 4 displays in crossfire since they released crossfire years ago.."
That was what someone replied to me in another thread... Because of that.. I went out and bought an extra un-needed 4870.. ugh!!!
Hey, I ended up getting 2 4870's.... But I need a little help..
I have them in Crossfire mode. I formatted to Windows 7. Did not install Catalyst yet, so all 4 monitors working (crossfire cable is on).
Installed Catalyst 9.8 for win7 64-bit.. got blue screen. Restarted, 2 monitors were...
I thought I'ld ask to above, just because its interesting. But I'm sure I can still get help from people that dont know any formulas.
How about the placement of the rad, res, and blocks? Should one be higher than the other? I have my triple rad at the bottom, res at the top, and blocks in...
Yikes, maybe my setup is just.. weird.
I haev my triple rad at the bottom because in the stacker t01, I can't really find any other place to put it. the 3 fans are intake fans drawing cool air away from the rad (sitting on top of the rad), and actually.. damn, I only have one exhaust 120mm...
Yeah, but its cool to actually use the math I learned back years back in cal 3, instead of letting the knowledge go to waste. I know theres some tech people in here that might know, thats why I asked. Most people here are probably engineers if they're really into this, and engineers are usually...
Just a random, bored side question...
Can anyone think of any Mathematical Formulas that an be used for water cooling? Ex: Calculating heat transfer in the loop, Calculating the curves in the water cooling loop and using that to calculate water flow resistance, etc.
I just thought it'd be...
Speed Fan shows HD2 and HD3 temps only. HD2 is 44 C, HD3 is 40 C. The temps haven't moved since I opened SpeedFan... so I dont know if its accurate. Since I have no temp probes on them, and I dont think the hard drives have an internal thermometer, I dont think SpeedFan knows. 'Shrug'
But if...
I have 4 hard drives screwed in a 3.5 bay holder, with LITERALLY about 1-2mm space between them. Barely any room at all. What would you say is the most effective way to cool them without spending a lot? Out of my entire system, I think that generates the most heat. There's a fan in front, but it...
Okay, just thought I'ld ask before I attempted anything. Thanks
Waterblock is on the northbridge, when I meant chipset above, is it assumed that its the northbridge?
Hey, I sold my motherboard and cpu to someone, and have another motherboard and cpu to replace it with. But as of right now I'm waiting to build it until my new video card comes.
I had a water cooled setup, But I'm adding a second video card, and don't want setup my water cooling with the new...
I have a MAZE5 thats currently in use on my x1900xtx. Im hoping that the holes are the same size, that way I can put my MAZE5 on my 4870.
And then I'm also going to buy another 4870 with a mcw60 on it.
Is that all I need? I know those aren't full coverage blocks. Do I need anything else...
Hey, I have 4 monitors, and a few years back, I was told that you couldn't use more than 2 monitors in crossfire mode. Well, I just learned now that they fixed it. So.. I need to ditch my X1900XTX That I use my 3rd and 4th monitor on, and get a up-to-date card (they dont support mine with...
Well newegg has a deal right now on a 'APEVIA WARLOCK 1100W' power supply for $110. The deal will probably be sold out soon.
I currently have a Corsair HX-620.
Is it time to upgrade or should I be fine with what I have? Does it perform as well?
Setup:
ASUS Rampage II Extreme w/ i7 920...
Sigh.. I know. The Retail Edge deal was just too good to pass up on though. an D0 i7 for 140? I think im going to go ahead and get the 12GB. That shouldn't hurt my overclocking performance by much, should it?
Okay, I was ABOUT to get the 12gb... but do I REALLY need it? Do you think 6GB will be sufficient for me? Resource Manager says Ive used 4.5GB Max today. And today was just normal usage. After Effects, Video, and Web-Browsing today. Heres my task manager screenshot...
Oh yeah.... you think I could fit my video card on the Rampage since it has a watercooling block on it? From the pictures, it looks like the Rampage's video card slots are spaced close together.
Going with the OCZ's. Just made the final decision. Thanks guys!!
I have a feeling they will do good!! Think I can hit 4Ghz with water cooling and my Rampage II Extreme?
1.) Oh yeah... my i7 is going to be a D0 Stepping. I think thats supposed to be better than the previous, right?
2.) I was leaning towards the Rampage II Extreme, but the reviews on the newegg for the Rampage says it does not support 1800 and 2000 speeds with memory. The P6T Also lists a lot...
haha thanks n7. You added the XMP kit I originally posted back in the loop. Now I have to decide between the two OCZ's and the Corsair.
If Im reading your post correctly n7, you're saying out of the Plat and Corsair, you'ld chose the Plat. But out of the Plat and OCZ XMP-Ready, you'ld get the...
Yea, normal windows work....
Though I DO use it for videos more since my HD4870 produces artifacts sometimes on mkv videos. I think its the driver. Im using Catalyst 9.3 because it works with both monitors.
Okay, this is the final decision I have to make before buying.

I'm finally making an upgrade and am going from a e6600 to a i7 920. I'm not sure if my water block or other gadgets in my setup will fit. Do I need to change anything or is my current water block okay. I assume if its okay, Ill need some sort of 'adapter' or mount so that I can mount it on my...
Haha, so if I'm reading u right, you're saying if I have more than 6gb (I have 8gb now so yes) I will see a decrease in performance with only 6gb ben though it's newer and triple data rate, instead of dual like my 8gb?
Yeah.. sorry. As weird as this sounds, I mostly use the ASUS Auto-overclock, or adjust the CPU overclock manually. I usually dont mess with the memory that much. Usually just auto-overclock it, then adjust the FSB and cpu voltage afterwards until I get a good temp/speed.
The second link...

Those are the two best deals on 6GB DDR3 memory Ive found so far. I dont know much about memory and timings etc, but do you guys have any suggestions? Does...
Wow, thanks Zap! Really helpful information. Good thing I asked. I had NO IDEA that my current 8gb setup of memory wouldn't work with the i7.
Few final questions...
°You're saying that a lower end 4000 series gfx card will actually work better than my current x1900?
° Im debating between...
Just bought the i7 for 129... 129.. yea right... Intel charged me 158 total for shipping and tax. Better ship fast, jeez.
Anywho, Ive got a list of mobos to look at. Which do you guys would say is best in cost/worthit ratio?

UPDATE: Narrowed it down between the Rampage II Extreme and the P6T DELUXE V2.

This has been going on for about a year, but I'm getting more monitors, and I need to know what's causing this and why.
When I turn on my PC, my screen flashes blue and red, and the text distorts too. When I'm in bios, sometimes I can read it, sometimes I can't.
It does this until Windows...
Sry, forgot the video. I have an X 1900 XTX right now, but I'm looking to upgrade in the summer.
What I think I'm going to do is RMA my power supply, then sell the new one when I get it.
After reading Scoop's post ...Right now I'm leaning toward the HX620 instead of the 750W. Wise...
Hey, do yall have any recommendations regarding silent PSU's?
$200 is my budget, and I really need to replace my GameXstream 700W, as I get headaches everyday from this small high-pitched noise coming out of it. It's the only thing I hear in my pc. I've put it off for too long.
Anyways...
Hey, I'm having a problem with my current power supply. It's gotten kind of loud. I hear the sound of a fan going, but what's really annoying is this high pitched noise that's not real audible, but is still annoying.
It's a Game Xstream 700W power supply.
Does anyone know of any Silent...
Hey, I want to setup 4 monitors, as it is really beneficial to me at school when I use 4 at once. I do lots of multi-tasking.
Anyways, here's my options I was considering. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
1.) Get another X1900XTX (I have one), and crossfire it.
2.)...
I've been running the beta version of vista 32-bit for a while. But a month ago I got the retailed version of vista. I had two versions. a 32-bit and 64-bit. I installed the 64-bit. Worked fine.
Last week I formatted my pc, and re-updated everything with new drivers and even my motherboard's...
