I'm going with an E6400 and the Gigabyte S3 MB.
Is this RAM a good deal for the price. I only want to do moderate oc'ing.

Can someone give me a quick rundown on why the P5B http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131045 is more expensive than the S3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128017#spec and why should choose one over the other.
I'm building a computer for a friend and chose to use the E6400. I want to be able to OC to 3GHz, but not sure which motherboard and RAM to choose. I've read through the forums and seen several different suggested motherboards, but need to narrow it down to 1. Also, I'm confused as to which...
I asked a question yesterday and finally got everything sorted out. Thanks for the help.
My network consists of a cable modem, plugged into a Belkin Message Manager router (for voip phone), which then goes into a Linksys wireless router, and from there into my computer.
The problem I am...
Yeah, I know I can reset the Belkin back to default, but I kind of wanted that to be a last option because I would have to contact my voip support to get all of the settings that were originally in there for using the phone.
Since I disabled DHCP on the Belkin router, if I assign my computer...
Thanks for the reply. The problem is that I don't know what the Belkin's current address is anymore. The linksys router's IP is 192.168.1.1, but I can't access the Belkin router at all.
I've been using this new voip service that my mother-in-law started selling subscriptions for. It came with a Belkin Message Manager. Originally, I set everything up as the instructions suggested and the phone and internet was working fine.
However, when I wanted to download some torrents, I...
Ok, we have about 6 different people who all have their own machines who would need to use the server.
The software is HFSS, which is an engineering design software package.
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm obviously a big time newb in this area.
I'm not familiar with Citrix, so I assume we won't be running it.
So you are saying as long as we purchase the 2003 Server Standard Edition, then we will be able to access programs on the server from client's computers with no additional licences?
The small company I work for is interested in purchasing windows 2003 server software. Mainly what we will use it for is file storage, managing accounts, and using it to run special software packages on from remote computers.
My first question is whether or not Windows 2003 Server Standard...
I have an 800JB also, and it's a little less than a year old. It is being used as the storage drive for movies, mp3s, etc.
As far as the capacitors on the motherboard.....how could I even test that?
I do have a CRT, but it is definitely coming from the system.
I'm pretty sure this MB doesn't have a fan on the chipset, so that couldn't be the problem.
I have checked the graphics card fan and it isn't it. I havn't check the power supply fan, so that could be it although it doesn't...
I'm getting a high pitch noise coming from my system. It is not exremetly loud, but loud enough for me to notice and it to annoy me. I know it is not the case fan or the cpu fan (i stopped these fans with my finger which probably wasn't the wisest thing to do but oh well).
The noise seems to...
I have an Athlon 64 2800+ with Chaintech vnf3-250 motherboard and it has multiplier settings all the way up to like 15x or 16x that I can choose. I havn't actually tried using these multiplier settings, but they aren't greyed out or anything.
I have an Albatron Geforce4 ti4200 8x agp card and I was trying to overclock it some last night. The default settings are 250/513. I was able to get the clock to run at 300 easily with no problems using AquaMark 3. I then put the clock setting back to default and started raising the memory...
If you are talking to me then yes I did read the sticky and it was very helpful. I just needed some more detailed information more specific to my case.
Thanks for the help rpv. Does anyone know if I will need to oc this ram to get a decent cpu oc? (Is this ram even oc'able?) Having a higher fsb speed than ram speed isn't very efficient is it?
I will be taking on my first real OCing endeavor today. Here are my system specs first:
Chaintech VNF3-250 MB
AMD Athlon 64 2800+ (Stock HSF)
1 GB Corsair Value Select DDR PC-3200
Thermaltake silent purepower 420W power supply
Geforce4 ti4200
120GB Sata Seagate
I'm not looking to...
I understand that it's still in beta, but the problem I am now having seems to be some connection/setting issue. Basically, I just need to know what could cause cd audio to work, but sound from sotware such as winamp to not work.
Ok, I have made some progress but there is still one problem. I found the Nvidia Nforce 64-bit chipset drivers that included a 64-bit AC'97 codec, which was compatible with my onboard 5.1 sound card. The sound card has a SPDIF out port, a center/bass port and a left/right port. My speakers are...
What do you mean by proper 64 it chipset drivers? I installed the MB drivers that were on the cd, but that was it. Should there be 64 bit chipset drivers for the vnf-250 motherboard???
I just installed XP 64 last night, and I have everything working except the sound. Initially I had a Soundblaster Live! Platinum card in there. I found some preview xp 64 drivers from creative's website and installed them, but the sound wouldn't work after the drivers were installed and a lot of...
Hi, I need a little help.
I just upgraded my mobo, cpu, ram, and power supply. I already had a Windows XP Corporate Edition installation on my hard drive. After installing all of the new hardware, I did a repair installation of XP so that it would get the updated drivers for the new...
I'm trying to find the best card available for under $100. Preferably more in the $75 range. I mainly want it to play World of Warcraft, which will be out soon. Right now I am using a GeForce2 Ultra 64MB card. I am going to put this in my fiancee's system and get something a little better...
