formatting 250GB external drive as FAT32?

I think FAT32 is the only one. I was looking for other partition software and found Acronis Disk Director. I also use Acronis True Image and have been very happy with it, so I decided to try Disk Director. It worked perfectly. Thanks for all the feedback. Andrew

formatting 250GB external drive as FAT32?

Are there any other applications similar to Partition Magic that I could try? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

formatting 250GB external drive as FAT32?

Thanks for the reply. It's a brand new drive, so there shouldn't be any partitions on it. When I open PM it shows the entire space as unallocated. If I try to create the 196GB partition that PM allows, it still shows the remaining space as unallocated. Andrew

formatting 250GB external drive as FAT32?

I have a new 250GB drive in an external USB/FW enclosure. I'd like to create one large partition in FAT32 because I may plug this drive into Mac computers in the future. I know WinXP can't create FAT32 partitions larger than 32GB, but I have Partition Magic and it will only allow me to...

server for windows and mac with hot-swap drives?

I just came across this Storage Tower on addonics.com that is available with a JBOD USB 2.0 adapter so you can connect up to four drives with a single USB cable. It also accepts standard 5.25 mobile racks. It occurred to me that this just might work with the new Apple Airport Extreme's drive...

server for windows and mac with hot-swap drives?

Something like that might actually work fine. When I said proprietary I was thinking more about some of the products I've seen from Lacie, Icy Dock, Wiebetech, Buffalo, etc. Many of those items have removable trays, but they are only compatible with specific products from specific manufacturers...

server for windows and mac with hot-swap drives?

I have to agree and that's why I'm looking at servers now. I already have 5 external drives, each with it's own AC adpt, cables, power switch, etc, and it's getting to be a real mess. I will need to add at least two new drives very soon, and would also like to replace my off-site DVD archives...

server for windows and mac with hot-swap drives?

Thanks for your response. Creating one directory would be fine, and I guess I was more concerned about hot-swapping and whether the drives would appear on the network as they are swapped in and out. I'm still not sure if hot-swapping would even be possible, or if the server would have to be shut...

server for windows and mac with hot-swap drives?

I would like to build a server for my home office that will work for file and printer sharing with both Windows and Mac client computers. I have fairly high storage demands and would also like to have hot-swap drive trays in the server case so I can easily swap out back-up drives that will be...

dual video cards in Asus P5W

Sorry about that. This was my first topic here and I guess I didn't scroll down far enough to see the video forum.

dual video cards in Asus P5W

Thanks for the update. Were you able to test it with two identical PCIe cards? Perhaps having two different cards is the problem.

dual video cards in Asus P5W

Support for two monitors is one thing, the other question that I'm trying to solve is the calibration and creation of separate and unique profiles for each monitor. I use the Monaco Optix XR calibration device and software, and according to their support forums you must have two separate video...

dual video cards in Asus P5W

It wasn't my idea, and I was obviously given the wrong information by salespeople and posters on various forums, including this one (see the first response to my original post). I honestly didn't even know what Crossfire was. I just want to run two monitors for photoshop use and I've been...

dual video cards in Asus P5W

Thanks very much. That's what I wanted to do, but I didn't want to buy one card now and then find out that I had to buy two different cards later. I read lots of complaints about loud fans on many of these cards. Is it possible to upgrade the fans if I find it's a problem?

dual video cards in Asus P5W

I'm soooo confused  An earlier poster here said "They must both work with Crossfire" and that's what the guy at the store said as well. I just don't know who to believe, and there doesn't appear to be anyway to contact Asus with technical inquires unless you already own the product...

dual video cards in Asus P5W

Does anybody know anything about HIS video cards? I've been searching for an inexpensive Crossfire card that is quiet and I found this one that fits the bill: HIS Radeon X1300 Pro iSilence I know the Radeon X1300 chip gets good reviews, but I've never heard of HIS and I can't find much...

dual video cards in Asus P5W

I appreciate the quick replies, but this really sucks! So, just to confirm, if I'm running one card it can be any old PCI-Express card or SLI or Crossfire. But it I want to run two cards, even it's it's just for Photoshop, I have to spring for two expensive identical Crossfire cards? Does...

dual video cards in Asus P5W

I want to build a new system and the primary use will be Photoshop and other 2D imaging apps. I had planned on using the P5W DH Deluxe motherboard and an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. I will also be running two CRT monitors and I would like to colour calibrate both of them. From what I understand I...
