Question concerning replacing an XBOX 360 dvd drive

So I've had some trouble with my XBOX 360 being unable to read discs that were in pristine condition for some time now. Specifically, I'd experience "unreadable disc" issues with both new and old games alike. Sometimes the XBOX 360 would load the game and I'd be able to play a bit before I was...

NVIDIA nic problems on my A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard

I am running Windows XP on an A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard with onboard Marvell and NVIDIA network cards. Until this morning, I had the Marvell nic disabled and was connecting to the internet through my router just fine. However, when I turned the machine on this morning, no internet...

Combine FS/FT and WTB into one category again?

I favor recombining them. I rarely check the WTB forum unless I'm posting something there myself. I also favor creating a separate forum for suspected trolling threads as they do clog up the FS/T forum.

By the looks of it, I am now absolutely back up and running in the original windows configuration I was running in when I powered my machine down yesterday to change its case. Thank you very much for your help dclive!

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt

Thanks again for your help. I managed to find the raid drivers, which are apparently required in order to follow the instructions on your site (great information, btw!). However, do I have to create a plugin for these drivers or do I just add the files to the image when it is being created?

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt

Thank you for your reply. However, I have an Nvidia Nforce4-based motherboard in my A8N32-SLI Deluxe. I've looked around for the sata raid drivers for that and thus far have found nothing. )=

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt

I recently moved my Win XP Pro-based system over to a new case I bought from a hardforum user. I initially encountered problems booting the machine in this new case whereas I never had these problems with the machine in the old case. I think I identified and corrected this problem (video card...

Another update: I received my xbox 360 back from MS today. They didn't fix my old unit at all. Instead, they just replaced it with a completely new one. (= However, I also got another package today that I absolutely wasn't expecting at all since I got the two replacement parts to get my...

Glad to hear everything turned out ok. I reset cmos as well when I was troubleshooting, so I had to go in and set everything to the way it was originally, which was a bit of a pain since I run my os off a two hd's in a raid config. (=

Trouble accessing shared folders via non-simple file sharings in Windows XP

I am trying to access shared folders between two windows xp sp2 machines I have connected via a router. Furthermore, I run Zone Alarm on both machines. With simple file sharing enabled, I am able to share files with no problems. However, I don?t like the idea of using simple file sharing and...

jjzelinski, Thanks for your reply. I was able to boot my machine with my old AMD 64 3200 cpu and the psu from my secondary machine. However, if I attempted to boot the machine with the fried AMD 64 4600 X2 or the Hiper 580W psu, the machine would absolutely not post. It was really a pain...

Update: I received my replacement psu from Hiper on Monday, July 30th, and my replacement cpu from AMD on Thursday, August 9th. My computer is back up and running exactly as it was before it decided to go boom. I honestly had a better experience with AMD's rma process than I did with Hiper's...

A bit, yeah. (= I just got off the phone with AMD and recieved an RMA number. The operator did ask me a fair amount of questions, but I did sort of "not really tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" on the where/when I bought it. Nevertheless, hopefully I'll have a...

Thanks for your reply Montag. Over the past few years, I've gone through 3 psu's. AMD CPU recently died - can I request an RMA even if not the original owner?

My AMD X2 S939 4600 CPU recently died (along with my Hiper 580 W psu). I purchased it from a seller on hardforum.com approximately 2 months ago. While in my possession, the cpu was not subjected to any undue stresses as I never overclock my hardware. After testing, I'm positive these...

Update: I couldn't get the pc to do anything other than simply power up when I was using a friend's new psu. The pc still would not post. This made me believe that my psu along with an additional one or more of my components were damaged. After checking, I found my secondary Linux machine...

Quick update: I have my computer over at a friend's house right now. I plugged his new, identical psu into my system. Montag, Thanks for all of your help. I really appreciate it. I think I may be in some (slight) luck however; a friend recently purchased a new pc and has yet to build it. With any luck, he'll let me borrow his new psu tomorrow for 5 minutes to confirm whether or not it is indeed my psu...

With no ram inserted, nothing happens. The computer still won't post. However, when I was fiddling with the computer just now, I did notice that when I connected the psu, a green light at the bottom of my a8n32-sli mobo lights up, indicating that it is receiving some power.

Well, I live in Oklahoma, and we've been getting slammed over the course of, well, the past 3 months. So yes, we have had some thunderstorms, but none within the past 2 days. (Furthermore, I do have this computer connected to an outlet through a surge protector.) My case is pretty clean, and...

When I removed all unnecessary components and switched the psu on, the LED light on my Zalman 9700 cpu hsf lights up for about half a second and the rear case fan briefly spins. Well, I did a CMOS reset by popping the battery. When I plugged the power chord back into the psu, the computer again turned on by itself, but immediately powered down after a few seconds. Now, the computer is completely unresponsive. I'm pulling components out now.

Montag451, Thank you for your reply. I hadn't thought of a CMOS reset. I'll give that a shot right now. I was debating about pulling every component aside those needed to post (ram, mobo, cpu), but the inside of my case is all a jumble and not something I'm overly eager to jump right into...

Need advice on hsf/cooler setup for AMD 4600 X2 S939

I recently purchased an X2 4600 from another member through hardforum and have generally been very happy with it. However, when I purchased it, I also purchased a Zalman 9700 through newegg as my Thermaltake CL-P0114 Big Typhoon was not rated for this processor. After reading some reviews, I...
