Help, I'm getting error checks on HD every time I reboot

Surprisingly the problem seems to have been fixed. I did the smart status and the HD passed it. Then I did an extended check of the HD with the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool from WD. No errors found. Since the normal error check from Windows (My Computer) didn't work, I tried to do it...

Help, I'm getting error checks on HD every time I reboot

I have four partitions: C, D, E, and F. C and D are on my Velociraptor 150GB. E and F are on my WD Caviar 500GB. F is the one that is always error checked every time I reboot. And this just recently started to happen. I haven't installed anything new. And I have checked the SATA cables. I...

    My 9800GX2 vs 8800GTX benchmarks

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Seems like it was a bit of a hasty decision on my part. Will wait for the GT200. Is that the true next gen from nVidia?

    My 9800GX2 vs 8800GTX benchmarks

The reason I did it was that a friend is bying a computer and he will buy my 8800GTX, so I get the GX2 very cheap. I thought the GT200 would not come until november or something like that. Isn't it 9900 that comes in a months time?

    Strange problem

A hot processor could cause strange behaviour (are you overclocking?). I have also experienced strange behaviour when I had a problem with the power supply (too weak). I suppose some memory problems could also cause such problems, but I think in most cases they will cause a complete lock up...

    F*cked by a DirectX train

Problem solved, kind of. Had to install older drivers. 4.12 to be exact. Weird problem though.

    F*cked by a DirectX train

I have a fairly old computer with a Radeon 9800 Pro, an Asus A7N8X-X mb and Athlon XP 3800 processor. I used Windows XP without any service packs and Catalyst 4.9 driver. And this configuration worked fine. But yesterday I decided to upgrade to Windows XP SP 2, nForce 5.10 mb drivers and...

My 4GB Memory only shows up as 2.75 GB in XP ?

Hey johnlee787 I recently had the exact same problem. I also have an EVGA 680i motherboard. You can of course do as the other guys here said and upgrade to 64-bit Windows. But you can also stick with your Windows XP 32-bit and return two of the 1 GB sticks and get two matched 512 MB...

System Properties displays wrong amount of RAM

The Mainboard tab of CPU-z shows only 6.00 PG, which is the AwardBIOS version, I think. Anyway, I flashed the P30 BIOS, and now the post screen shows Nvidia BIOS version 2.053.91. Before I flashed it was 2.053.74. So I guess 2.053.91 is the P30 BIOS. One last question: Assuming I get the...

Do any of you guys have an answer for my BIOS version question?

System Properties displays wrong amount of RAM

ryderOCZ, I will try adjusting the voltages and the other tips you provided. If the motherboard can't handle 4GB (i.e. if I still get those crashes), then I will go for 2 x 512. I'm very happy with my OCZ memory, by the way. ;-) Thanks for all help, guys. EDIT: Eh, I'm suddenly a bit...

System Properties displays wrong amount of RAM

Removed one of the modules so now I have 3 x 1GB. No more crashes. Ok, so I gather from what you're saying JustaGeek that I have 3 options: 1. Return the two 1GB modules and get two 512MB modules instead. 2. Use one of the 1GB modules, miss out on dual channel and keep the other 1GB...

System Properties displays wrong amount of RAM

Thanks, ryderOCZ. Useful info. Anyway, now my computer suddenly started crashing when I run games. There is a short white noise sound followed by a BSOD which is barely visible for a second and then the computer restarts. This happens after about 5 minutes of game time. And it started...

System Properties displays wrong amount of RAM

I have the following motherboard: EVGA nForce 680i SLI (A1) First I had 2GB of OCZ DDR2 2048MB Platinum XTC Dual Channel. Then I upgraded with 2GB more of the same memory to a total of 4GB. Now in the post screen and BIOS the memory displays correctly: 4193280K But in the System...

    CMOS checksum error

Yes, like I said, all the standoffs match the holes on the mainboard. Haven't tried to boot outside the case, though. Will try, thanks for the tip.
