    VOIP services--PhoneGnome & OOMA

I must say that so far I'm happy with Ooma even though I've only had the service for two weeks. If Ooma does well for the next two weeks then I'm going to sell my Ooma Scout on eBay. This will recoup even more of my initial up front cost. I think most of Ooma's revenues come from its Premier...

    VOIP services--PhoneGnome & OOMA

Overall call quality is good, however I've had calls where my voice sounded tinny to the other person. That's another area I feel ooma could use improvement. I heard a few months ago ooma was having some cash problems but were able to get additional investing and put the money into more...

    VOIP services--PhoneGnome & OOMA

I decided on ooma but wanted to wait for Newegg to drop their price on it. Now that I have Ooma set up (which didn't take long--10 min), I can comment on it. Some things I really like about it: - It is quality equipment. You can easily tell this by the nice box and packaging it comes in to...

    VOIP services--PhoneGnome & OOMA

I'm searching for a decent VOIP service to replace my current Time-Warner digital phone service. I tried magicJack but didn't care for it at all so I returned it promptly. I don't like having to have my PC on to talk on the phone. I am currently looking at both PhoneGnome and Ooma but I'm...

8800GTS - slow display at POST & in BIOS

My BenQ monitor scales quite nicely to VGA res. I noticed the 8800 GTS doesn't scale to the full edge of the screen like the 1900XTX. The 1900XTX has very sharp text in Ghost and no lag exists while navigating the BIOS. On the GTS text is fuzzy in Ghost but sharp in the BIOS. There is quite a...

8800GTS - slow display at POST & in BIOS

Actually I must change my previous reply to clarify. The problem I'm experiencing is not with DOS boxes under WinXP (whether full-screen or windowed). The behavior is only present at POST (boot-up) or when navigating the BIOS. Apparently something is still amiss with either the Commando...

8800GTS - slow display at POST & in BIOS

Thanks Rubycon (superb caps BTW--never had one fail on me). At least now I know it's not the card. I've returned untold amounts of hardware over the past several months and really didn't want to face returning the 8800GTS because it's comparatively heavy.

8800GTS - slow display at POST & in BIOS

I don't spend much time in DOS other than Ghost and the BIOS. What mobo(s) are you using? I was thinking maybe there's an issue with Nvidia cards on Crossfire (P965/975 or ICFX3200) boards.

8800GTS - slow display at POST & in BIOS

It's been sometime since I've purchased an Nvidia card and one of the main reasons was because I like ATIs image quality. I've read where Nvidia's IQ is now on par with ATI's so I decided to purchase an 8800GTS. It surprises me that the DOS speed and IQ is so bad. I posted here to see if it's...

8800GTS - slow display at POST & in BIOS

I recently purchased and installed a BFG 8800GTS OC 640MB in my PC. When my system POSTs, the text is displayed slow. When I'm navigating the Commando (AMI) BIOS the screens display slow as well. Also, text is rather fuzzy in Ghost (DOS version). The card works just fine in WinXP (158.22...

No one using high-speed RAM to overclock C2D?

Don't be. I'll be adding a CoolIT Freezone and may go Crossfire in addition to adding more drives. As I mentioned in my previous post, I do a lot of video editing.

No one using high-speed RAM to overclock C2D?

In Conroe OCDBs across the Net I rarely see anyone using high-speed memory like Corsair PC2 8888, OCZ FlexXLC, Mushkin Redline, Geil Ultra PC8500, etc. I can only attribute this to one or more of the following: 1. High memory speed lowers CPU overclockability 2. Serious compatibility...

DFI-Street and DFI Corp go separate ways

I think some of the posters were so jaded with DFI's products that they couldn't see the limitations, especially with the Inifinity 975X/G. But you see this on all forums that cater to a particular manufacturer (ASUS forums are really bad for this). Overall the information was objective and...

Just before DFI-Street parted ways with DFI Corp a veteran poster had replied to a comment of mine about the 680SLI. DFI-Street and DFI Corp go separate ways

    "Official" DFI nF4 Ultra-D / SLI-DR Thread

Update to my previous post... I bumped up the core to 1.64v and upped Max Async & Read Preamble a notch. That did the trick. I ran SP2004 in blend mode priority 3 for over nine hours and at the same time ran a video encode which took over 4 hours. While all this was running I was also surfing...

    "Official" DFI nF4 Ultra-D / SLI-DR Thread

I've been using SP2004 (Stress Prime 2004) in Blend mode to verify the stability of my overclocks. It is but one of the tools I use but I like it because it is one of the most rigorous tests for determining whether an overclock is stable or not. Here's my scenario. If I run SP2004 standalone...

    Enhance ENS-0565 650W PSU - opinions?

With the feedback here and favorable reviews from johnny and others, I've decided on the Enhance. I can get it about $10 cheaper than the Fortron and it's modular to boot. Thanks for all your comments.

    Enhance ENS-0565 650W PSU - opinions?

johnny really liked the ST60F (0560G). It provides more current on the 12v rails than the FX600-GLN. The biggest complaint against the ST60F was the noise, but that has been rectified afaik. The X1800/1900 series cards EAT current so I want something that's not going to bark under load. In...

    Enhance ENS-0565 650W PSU - opinions?

eWiz doesn't appear to be carrying the ENS-0560G psu any more so I'm looking for an alternative (I plan to have a Crossfire setup in the future). They carry the ENS-0565 but this unit doesn't appear to have the same amount of current on the 12v rails as the former. According to this review...

    FX600-GLN vs ENS-0560G vs OZC powerstream 520

They do? I don't see the Enhance on eWiz's web site any more. This was a direct link to it: https://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-EN0560G# The Fortron is considerably more expensive and the PowerStream 520 doesn't have dual 12v rails, something I want for a future Crossfire setup, not to...

Are you sure? I've seen where some have been able to push the 7900GT far past GTX levels. It's been hit-or-miss for me. My current 1800XT has been the best overclocker yet at 700/800 with stock cooling but my old 9800 Pro hit a wall quickly. The 1800 will go more with additional voltage but...

Once I get my Ultra-D I will have to see how far it goes. 350 would certainly be high enough for me. The ability to change the CPU divider will help further tweak my memory. The divider is one thing my current A8N-E lacks (among the ability to overclock well in general).

Well, I'm sure your watercooling is helping out. :D The Opterons also seem to hit higher number for some reason--perhaps that AMD bins them because they're server/workstation parts and the temp requirements are more stringent. From what I've read, it appears the Ultra-D stock cooler is goood...

The SATA header issue when overclocking is not just a problem with ASUS boards. SATA ports...

I've read from several sources that Nvidia bins their nForce4 chips, using the ones that will reach a higher speed for SLI parts. For those of you who have recently purchased the LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D, what northbridge speeds are you topping out at and at what voltage? Is there an...

These are some consistent problems I keep hearing about the A8N-E. 1. You MUST have your FDD enabled to avoid problems 2. When overclocking, if you want to avoid slow downs on your SATA drives use header 3 and/or 4 (not 1 or 2). Note: If you also run and IDE hard drive and want to boot to...
