I had a Belkin Universal 1100 UPS it was replaced when it sacrificed itself to save my hardware (short caused by a bad power cable). The replacement is the current Belkin equivalent.
That's the purpose though, to protect your hardware from electrical damage. Any current surge protector that...
Its only a matter of time. How much time is the question, and that i do not know.
The 15k Cheetah is a nice drive I've had my 2nd generation X15 for about 3 years. CS:S loads pretty quick.
The faster the drive the better it is the slowest component in the PC. Flash Drives will probably...
IMO, if you have to purchase the drives & hardware to acquire RAID functionality then it is not worth it.
If you already have all the necessary components sitting around then go for it the only cost is the additional electricity the HDD will consume.
For the cost of investing in a RAID...
I don't think the cooler is that bad, Its a little loud when the PC starts but quiets down there after. I don't notice it over my case fans and HDDs.
Then again I'm running it at stock speed which is plenty fast for me.

Even though you already made your decision. Here's the Sapphire X1900GT for $199 at newegg. Maybe someone else is looking for it :)
This process is absolutely possible and exactly what some data recovery services have to do in order to recover data from failed hard drives.
The problem is that it takes special tools to carry the read/write heads safely away from the data platters and a clean room free from moisture and...
Wow I purchased my Sapphire X1900GT for $199 on newegg just a week ago and now all the X1900GTs are $50 more. It's amazing how volatile the PC market is.
And I think i saw someting that showed that the X1900GT did out perform the 7900GS but then again I may be wrong.
I concur, build a new system and sell the old one. As was mentioned the complete system is worth more than the parts. And the cost to upgrade an AGP & socket A system won't be worth the increase in performance.
Just my opinion.
I think Memtest is a pretty solid tool for identifying bad memory. Just read the website to see why.

As far as if its causing your problems I'm not sure. Stability issues can be caused by many things (weak PSU, buggy OS, buggy drivers, hardware incompatabilities...
I also was looking for a replacement for Norton Ghost but didn't find anything at that time.
I found this link thou I have not tried any of the listed disk imagers yet.

The most insignificant & unnoticeable upgrade I've ever made was a CPU (P2 300MHz to P3 500MHz).
The most significant & noticeable upgrade ever, you ask? 5400rpm HDD to 7200rpm HDD and then 7200rpm HDD to 15000rpm HDD.
For $300 I might consider looking at a Raptor HDD but anything other...

I've never tried a network install of Windows, however I tried to help an forum member to install Windows XP to a USB HDD and he could install it but on once it would boot to the USB HDD when Windows XP initiallized the USB drivers it lost communication with the drive and would hang.
If you...
You can use DVD Decrypter to copy the DVD to the HDD, if you can find a copy.

If the DVD is from Sony it may have an additional copy protection on it. Refer to my post at the bottom of this thread.
Media Player Classic & VideoLAN Client (VLC)
They both run on Windows & play DVDs the problem can sometimes be getting them to send out the surround sound.
fierydemise,
Thats a cool app, I like the idea that you could create the screen relationships and (I'm sure) loop the screen relationships so that once you got the the far right screen moving the mouse to the right would loop it back to the far left screen.
I also found MediaPortal...
I've been using Unlocker for about 3 months now and it is really nice to force Windows to do as you tell it.
It can almost always resolve the "denied access" prompts.
Note: Yahoo Go Beta DVR looks interesting but currently its limited to 4 TV tuner cards.

I believe you are correct.
1) Most people don't own displays that have high enough resolutions for them to see the increased picture quality of HD DVD or BR. These same people do not have surround sound speaker systems that will allow them to hear the difference between the...
21" over the 20" unless of course the price diffence is significant enough to persuade you to go with the 20".
Since the resolution is the same the bandwidth required to drive the LCDs would be the same.
Keep in mind the different characteristics that Amplifier mentioned.

Well,
Hopefully your onboard sound is disabled and the drivers with it or this could be causing problems In addition you should have the latest SB drivers installed.
Considering that your using the Logitec Z-5500 speakers which have an external DD & DTS decoder you should have no problem...
I have Seagate 7200.7, Hitatchi 7K250 & Hitatchi T7K250. I have never had a problem with my seagates. I just recently got the Hitachi's and one of the 250GB 7K250's was DOA but the replacement & others have been good since.
These HDD are under light use (less than an average PC) so I dont...
I invested in a Seagate X15 18GB SCSI HDD with an Adaptec 19160 SCSI Controller. I invested $400 for these items back in 2002 and while the access time of the X15 is noticable & impressive IMHO it as not worth the cost associated with the benefits.
Unless you really need the access time or...
