On my old GA-EP45-UD3P, the eSATA ports were on a slot bracket, and I plugged them into SATA headers on the motherboard.
On my new GA-P55-UD4P, the eSATA ports are part of the rear connectors. I have them enabled in the BIOS (which is the default), but I can't get either of my eSATA disks to...
Core i7 860, Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P.
I had this running at 180 * 21 = 3.78 GHz using auto everything.
Then I tried the settings specified in this Anand review of the UD2 (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3652&p=6):
VCore 1.375
VTT 1.39
PLL 1.86
And now my system is...
During the hot weather last week, my system was having some troubles. It finally failed to boot, and I noticed that the NorthPole XL chipset cooler fan wasn't turning.
So I bought another one and installed it, and this one won't turn either. I tried it on all 3 plugs on the motherboard, and...
I am looking to build a NAS server. I am looking for a motherboard that:
Supports 6 SATA drives in a RAID 0+1 configuration (e.g., 6 500GB drives, fully redundant, for a total of 1.5TB of available storage)
Supports Core 2 Duo processors
Has 4 DDR2 memory slots
Has gigabit ethernet
Any...
My Dell SC420 has a 775 socket, which fits the Core 2 Duo processors. Has anybody succeeded in upgrading an SC420 with a Core 2 Duo?
I realize that the bus speed on the SC420 will remain at 800MHz. But I'm concerned about the Dell BIOS. I am assuming that it won't know what to do with the...
In this thread, I detailed my overclocking efforts with a Core 2 Extreem X6800. I settled in at about 3.6 GHz. Everything worked fine for several months.
Now my system is spontaneously rebooting. Sometimes it lasts an hour, sometimes a minute.
Edit: it's not rebooting, it's freezing...
All of the memory articles on Anand describe memory timings with four numbers: for example, "4-4-4-12". I'm looking for specifics on what each number refers to.
I ask because CPU-Z and my Asus P5W DH Deluxe BIOS specify the numbers in a different order.
CPU-Z reports them in this order...
I am going to document my experience with the following hardware:
Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor
Arcitc Cooling Freezer 7 Pro heat sink/fan
Asus P5W DH Deluxe Motherboard
Corsair 2GB XMS2 PC2-1067 memory
Western Digital WD1600ADFD 10K disk (the Dell 160GB version)
ATI (Gigabyte)...
I got my X6800 from MicroCenter today. I think it is DOA.
I popped an old Pentium into my P5W DH Deluxe and upgraded its BIOS to version 0801. I then restarted and verified that the BIOS was upgraded successfully.
I pulled the Pentium and put my brand new Core 2 Duo X6800 in, and...
I am building a system around an Asus P5W DH motherboard and an Intel Core 2 Duo X6800 processor. I also have a Dell 2407 wide-screen monitor.
The motherboard has no onboard video, so I need to buy a video card. I have an ATI HDTV Wonder that I will put in it, so I'm going to go with an ATI...
I have ordered a Core 2 Duo X6800, and 2GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2-1066 (PC2-8500) RAM.
I plan to do some minor overclocking, but nothing that would involve liquid cooling, etc.
I am not a gamer. I mean that I never play games on my computer; I spend my days building code, rendering video...
