    Vista Upgrade Coupon

Just go to the upgrade website, and send an E-mail to ask about status. they will send a reply, and go from there. It REALLY is worth the BS, if you don't mind jumping thru all the hoops, but OEM is the way to go now. They will probably ask you to resend the pop. Make sure you always use the...

Is Windows XP going to be unavailable?

Maybe not retail, but XP will be available on the net for quite a while, as they are going to support at least PRO for seven or more years. Word has it, they also extended the other os support too, in view of all the upgrades that were sold. If you look hard enough, you can still buy W95 or 3.1

Upgrading from Win XP Pro to Vista Home Premium

There's a CUSTOM install, that basically rolls all the old junk into a seperate folder, and then does a clean full install of Vista. Or you can use the double install routine rolling around the web.

Anyone else having issues with Moduslink?

Do you have the software installed and activated? If it's not, you can't get the coa verified, until you install the qualifying software. Some have CLAIMED they got thier upgrade coupon threu without having the softwarte installed, but it wouldn't verify for me until I installed MCE2005. Keep...

Do yourself a favor, and DON'T go the upgrade route. It just isn't worth all the MAJOR BS. Either wait, and buy OEM Vista ,or ditch the modem now, and buy something cheap that will get you thru. What are the legalitites of using any XP CD to do an install on any PC?

I'm sure you know that you can't mix versions, retail for retail ,oem for oem, and upgrade for upgrade, but I have never had an install fail because of using a different disc. It's SUPPOSED to be with the original software, but since the EULA allows for you to make 1 copy for your own use, I'd...

running one copy of XP on two computers

Tell your friend not to be surprised if he gets "THE BIG BLUE ROSCOE" thats a big blue star that appears in the tool bar ,with the message, "This copy of XP needs to be reactivated." XP Pro OEM and Update to Vista

XP would need to be installed and activated and the upgrade papers submitted before the 3/15 deadline. FWIW, I tried to order the upgrade without installing MCE2005, and the upgrade center wouldn't validate my coa. You are better off just buying a full copy of oem Vista later on, because the...

Mom wants me to take XP off her laptop and go back to 98

You would be better off buying an oem copy of XP. 98 isn't gonna do very well on todays web, as a LOT of stuff the web uses every day, isn't supported by 98. I tried keeping a 98 box alive, but got fed up with the TONS of illegal ops messages and the numerous crashes. Be prepared for a LOT of...

    Windows licensing

Upgrade means just that, UPGRADE. Once you upgrade a copy of XP, it's against the eula to continue to use it, UNLESS you uninstall Vista ,reinstall XP ,and call to reactivate it. You can then use your RETAIL copy of Vista ,on another pc, with a qualifying old OS on it.

    Vista 512MB RAM requirement

I ran it on a NF2 with 512mbs of memoryand a 2500 Barton, and it reminded me of a p2 running 98 on 64mbs 1 gb is definitely a requirement if you want Vista to run well. Vista uses memory much different than previous OSes did. You might qualify to run a copy of Vista basic.

Clean Install not possible with Vista Upgrade Discs

You might want to be a little careful here, as using the anytime upgrade option, the eula is different ,and only allows for 1 transfer of the os. It's an exception in the eula under anytime upgrade. From the EULA: "The first user of the software may reassign the license to another device one...

Should I buy OEM or Upgrade for Vista?

When you use a retail upgrade on an OEM copy of XP, you just upgrade the OEM license, you don't change it to a retail license. Upgrading from Windows 2000 to Vista Question

What is stated here is true for W2K BUT W2k with sp4 must be on the drive you are going to put Vista on. Vista then rolls it into a Windows.old folder and does a "clean/full install of Vista. This is the LEGAL way to do your UPGRADE.

Clean Install not possible with Vista Upgrade Discs

you want to hear a real good one? They are linking you to those instructions when asked about a clean install with an upgrade disc over at the oem forum.
