Need help with upgrade..out of the loop for a while.

The E6600 is a nice chip. I've got mine overclocked from 2.4ghz to 3.24ghz without even touching the voltages. The Intel D975XBX2 (Bad Axe 2) is rock solid and stable, and unlike every other board I've ever owned has zero capacitor whine. Paired with 4gb (kind of overkill) of overclocked ram and...

16 hours of Orthos, 14 hours of Memtest86+

Just wanted to add ... the problem with Supreme Commander only happens when I've alt-tabbed out of a game and back in from Vista 64. 99.9% sure it's a driver issue.

16 hours of Orthos, 14 hours of Memtest86+

I have the exact same problem using HL2e1. It will error out with the same messages when loading from certain savegames, and sometimes when loading new areas. I noticed that after playing for a while the save game icons will be garbled and the saves rendered useless with crashes if I load them...

Should I be satisfied with this overclock? With poll.

I have an E6600 running on an Intel D975XBX2 and it's completely stable at 3.24ghz (360 FSB) on stock vCore, vMCH and cFSB settings. My OCZ PC6400 Plat R2 ram (4x1gb) are running the stock 4-4-4-15 at 1.92v on the default 1066 strap. Coretemps idle under 30c and the only thing really generating...

Intel D975XBX2 Motherboard Temp ... too high?

Just wondering if these temperatures are normal, and if I should get a separate fan for my Northbridge/Southbridge on my D975XBX2. I have an Intel Bad Axe 2 running an E6600 overclocked to 3.2ghz (with no voltage tweaks of any kind ... everything running stock), with 4gb in 4 sticks of OCZ...

Bad Axe 2 cooling - newbie question

Works fine without a fan connected to the cpu fan header for me. I dunno about a can plugged in though. :)

Bad Axe 2 cooling - newbie question

No fan plugged in at all. The only board-monitored fan I have running is right next to the Ninja Heatsink at the back of the case. Everything else reports zero fan speed. Still a bit concerned about the capacitors touching the bracket but there seem to be a lot of people with the Bad Axe 2 /...

Bad Axe 2 cooling - newbie question

I have the exact same board and heatsink ... set it up this past monday on a C2D 6600 and everything works perfectly. I'm not overclocking at all and have no fan attached to the Ninja Rev B ... the system is almost totally silent and the CPU reading never goes above 45 degrees. The Ninja...

    Would appreciate some upgrade help.

Thanks a lot for the reply. The memory I chose because, combined with the eVGA m/b at newegg, there's $15 off and a $40 rebate that makes it about the same price as the low-end ram. I don't know if I'll ever go SLI but I thought it was a good option to leave open. Plus I've had good...

    Would appreciate some upgrade help.

I'm sorry to add to the never-ending string of "help me with my build" threads, but, please ... "help me with my build." :) My current setup is as follows: AMD 64 3200 Abit KV8-Max3 eVGA 7800gs AGP 1gb Corsair DDR ram Antec TruePower 430 WD Raptor 74gb Seagate 320gb .10 Antec P180...

    Little help with my build.

Thanks guys ... got all the parts from Newegg yesterday. Going to assemble over the weekend.

    Little help with my build.

That's strange. ... I've been reading the reviews and each one says the Ninja is really easy to install ... less force required than the others.

    Little help with my build.

I wouldn't ship it with the ninja attached ... just thought I could attach it to test, then remove it and ship the ninja separately. I'm assuming the ninja is just as easy to attach as the zalman ... seems to have a back plate as well. He's really stoked on the idea of using the ninja now...

    Little help with my build.

Ok I'm dumb. Found the Ninja on newegg. So you think the Ninja here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185001 is better than the Scythe Mine cooler here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185023 I see the second one has the fan mounted right...

    Little help with my build.

Newegg doesn't sell the Ninja does it? I've been looking for a good cpu heatsink but am just going with was good a few years ago. What else would you recommend? Thanks for the input btw.

    Little help with my build.

My brother's computer just died, and he needs something immediately to replace it. The only thing I was able to salvage was a WD Raptor 150 plus a floppy, dvd burner, etc. He wanted the nice black/black Antec case, so I added that in. I know the new M2 is out soon, but he can't wait. Put the...

    6800GS AGP discontinued already?

I'm looking at the exact same situation, and I've been looking at the 7800 GS models a lot. The eVGA 7800 GS CO can be had for $270 after rebate, and it's very tempting. It's just hard to justify sticking with AGP when the money will net more for PCI-E. What I really want is something that...

Need best VC option for Dell 2405FPW

Ordered the 7800 GS Superclocked card from Newegg last night, then cancelled. It was $313 shipped. Noticed that after $80 rebate and the ATI promo code, I can get a HIS x1800xt 512mb PCI-e video card and a refurb Biostar NF4 socket 754 motherboard for $322 shipped. Both solutions are...

Need best VC option for Dell 2405FPW

I believe the 7600 doesn't come in AGP flavors. I'm just looking for an interim solution to tide me over until the latest from AMD/Intel and a DX10 card (probably in the late fall/winter). I know it's stupid to drop $300 on a 7800 GS, but I'm tempted.

Need best VC option for Dell 2405FPW

I've been looking at that card. But I'm really leaning towards a 6800 GS and trying to unlock it. I can easily swing $100-$150 cash right now, and with the $80 for my AIW, I can upgrade from the 9800 for a good 9 months. The 9800 is just chugging on me lately.

Need best VC option for Dell 2405FPW

Hmm ... got a friend willing to buy my AIW 9800 for $80 ... that could easily apply to an interim agp replacement, before I go pci-e in the fall with the new processors/DX10 VCs. Now I'm leaning towards getting a 6800 and trying to unlock it. Or just buying an x800 GTO. Either is going to run...

Need best VC option for Dell 2405FPW

Thanks ... that's kind of what I'm leaning towards. But once you upgrade one component you really get the itch to upgrade others. Money isn't really a concern, but you're right, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to upgrade a dying standard. Don't want to spend much to do that.

Need best VC option for Dell 2405FPW

I just ordered a new Dell 2405FPW display to replace my old Dell 19inch LCD, and am beginning to wonder if it'd be worthwhile to upgrade my Radeon 9800 Pro AIW at the same time. It's on an older board with AGP-only, running an Athlon 64 3200 cpu. I'm hoping to put off a system upgrade for as...
