ram cooling on 8800GT? How important is this?

I just fitted my old Zalman 700Cu on my 8800 GT losing the warranty in the process. It works better than I expected (-10C Celsius on the 5V line,-15 C on the 12V line at idle; amazing at load). I fitted the Ram heatsinks with some difficulty, but I left the power circuitry on the end of the...

I have joined Nvidia's Focus Group.

One more reason to NOT come here anymore. This is turning into a pathetic move by Nvidia and is as disgusting as can be. I can understand those of you that benefit from this, but don't expect some congrats or whatever.:disgust: This forum is turning into a joke, it's just fair that people...

    Samsungs 226BW can do 1080P?

Nobody bothered to answer you because is not such a smart question. Like you said, the maximum resolution and the only TRUE one is 1680x1050 pixels, even if your input signal reported by your monitor is 640x480, 1024x768, 1280x1024 or 1920x1080. No matter the input, you use all of your 1680x1050...

    Spare parts for Zalman?

I've been looking at mine and you might try with a long screw (Nipple A + Nipple B long) that is thin enough to pass through the holes on the graphics card. You would have to then screw both sides of the metal bracket one at a time. And in place of Nipple A try a cilindrical piece of plastic...

The Rumor Mill on the Radeon HD48XX

Frequency 1050 - now THAT'S impressive! And if those numbers about idle consumption are correct, I will trade my 8800 GT for one of these. I am gaming for something like an hour a day out of 13-14 hours, and this will come in handy. I wonder if current power supply won't have...

    3DMark Vantage Screens

Thx, aberforth. I like the way they clearly separate CPU from GPU tests. 3dmark 06 was useless in the last 2 years because of the importance the CPU score played in the final score. Not reality like, really.

    8800GT Temperatures

I removed the metal plate on my case located underneath the graphics card so that that hot air that the card's fan is blowing toward the back of the case has a place to go. You can try with more of those metal plate depending of your system configuration. The fan located in front of the case...

No DirectX 10.1 in Vista SP1

Not to piss me off. The only ones that have a lot to gain from DirectX10.1 are AMD/ATI. If there is no DX10.1 in SP1, they have a lot to lose. To the consumer, DX10 itself didn't bring anything usefull yet. I don't see any reason to hide the fact that it has DX10.1 if those .dlls are the real...

No DirectX 10.1 in Vista SP1

Having read that Microsoft finished work on SP1 and announced a RTM, I was curious as to how will this work on my Vista 32. And then, the bad news, that I had to wait until march or even later to install it. So, I just downloaded off torrents the SP1 that everybody called Final only to find...

    8800GT GPU Fan Speed Issues w/ P5K-E

First glance at 3870X2 Crossfire X results.

It looks really good for AMD. It's now clear that the drivers will make this a must ot bust for them. And with the next gpu coming in multi-die form (the R7x0), this results are the first indications for future products performance. Go ATI!

question for those with nforce 4 motherboards and who bought a new PCI-E 2.0 video card

I have a Nforce 6100/430 working with 8800GT. PCIe 1.0a also. This stupid rumor about compatibility started from some AsRock users having problems (most with AGP+PCIe motherboards) and was blown out of proportions. I have yet to see one user with an Nvidia motherboard chipset not working...

AMD 'to ship half a million RV670s'

ATI simply surprised Nvidia with these cards. They were forced to release a product (G92) made to save money on the high-end at a lower price than intended and with a confusing name. And they killed the sales of GTS and GTX cards with this same move. The good news is that they will...

    Zalman VF700-Cu on a 8800GT

    8800GT Review(s) - (18 and counting)

There are a couple of things I also don't like about this review: 1. Different/ancient versions of drivers: Catalyst 7.9, Forceware 162.18 (8800GTS) and Forceware 169.01 (8800GT) 2. Power Consumption Tests: it should be a simple read but ALL numbers seem higher than normal. 3. They don't...

    8800GT Review(s) - (18 and counting)

Another review Link ; No Crysis, though. Looks hot and noisy (2900xt level). Single slot cooler doesn't help. They measured the heat "behind core", it looks to me like they are trying to hide something. Great performance, I will wait for a real review of a dual slot cooler card before I...

    8800GT- Question

"EVGA provides lifetime warranty and accepts overclocked gpu so why not" 1. Lifetime warranty - doesn't exist in EU (maximum 3 years warranty for EVGA cards in my country). 2. Upgrade - not here. 3. That "after rebate" - I don't even understand what that is. 4. Considering 1+2+3 and the...

UPDATE: I pull the trigger on the LG 226WT

Bambooshoot, Krisha, there's nothing like you experience on my monitor. Try not using the Forte Manager, it might help. @Krisha: You simply might have got a bad monitor. It's sad, but is seems weird that with a Service Bios higher than 1.14 the problems already solved will come back.

    HD 2900pro launch

That card looks like a winner to me. The only problem is that is going to consume a lot of power being based on the R600 core. I will guess around 120 Watt max, and the cooling solution will be a determining factor also. If ATI retains the two slot cooler from the 2900xt, this card will be...
