I just picked up one of these drives. Has not gotten here yet and I am anticipating it's arrival. From the reveiws I read it's a good drive and has the self healing feature.

Hi,
I just put one of these in my box. It is the CAYC stepping and from what I have read this is a good stepping for unlocking. Unfortunately my board has the 700 SB and not the 710 or 750 so unlocking the cores is out. It runs stablle 3.12Ghz, stock voltage. All I did was drop the multiplier...
My take
Pick up this board
GIGABYTE GA-MA78G-DS3HP $85
Your memory $45
Opty 1210HE $83 if you shop around
HD4830 $74
For under $300 you get a board that is AM3 compatible and the opty will OC to 3G+. Mine is stable at 3.0 (1200mhz OC). It has almost as much cache as the Kuma and is...
I have some original PQI Turbo memory, TCCD. It run flawlessly at 3-4-4-8-1T at 275 FSB 1:1 2.7V. Running it on a 9NPA+ Ultra board. Have tried to squeeze the timings and the bandwidth is best at these settings.
tubar,
What is up? There is a lot of skepticism in regards to your creditbility as you have quite a few AT'ers pissed off right now. To say the least you have some balls! Please refer to this link

"that I have a bit of cash laying around" is an understatement!

What is the best driver for this card? I have a VisionTek GF3 and am using the drivers off the disk that came with it. Also what is the highest AGP Bus speed optainable with this card?

I have a Hot Rod 100 controller card that took some trial and error to get XP to load. XP ships with all of MS's digitally certified drivers so when I hit F6 and loaded the High Point drivers it hung when loading the OS. So I let XP load it own set of drivers for the card. High Point now has...
I have flashed my bios and am not able to get to the 166GSB to enable the 1/5 divider. I am using 1 256 mb stick of Crucial PC2100 DDR. Here's my setup and your advice is appreciated

Title says it all. I recently acquired the fore mentioned SCSI card and a Quantum Atlas V 10K drive with the adapter and 68 pin cable. The drive is a 160 LVD and I am using a 68 pin cable that is properly terminated (LVD). I need to know how to configure the card to achieve Ultra-2 SCSI transfer...
Follow o1die's advice and you should be fine applying the HSF. I just got a 1.333 AYHJA chip yesterday and installed it and was able to reach 1.6G stable. I am water cooling it and opted for 1554 as the speed to leave it at. I am also running a Epox 8K7A mobo.
Good Luck!
OEM chips definitely clock as good or better than reatil chips. I have never purchased a retail chip and have had very good results with OEM chips. What's nice is if you go to a local shop you can check out all the cores in a tray and choose accordingly.
Is the core chipped? This can cause some quirkiness like you described. I had this problem with a 900 Slot A Tbird I bought. Do you have a friend that will let you check it out with their chip?
Wipe as much off as you can with a Qtip and Alcohol then use a erasure. I've done this many times. Just make sure to rotate the erasure and rub off the paste on a napkin.
You will not be able to load W2K in DOS. Do like Dyngoe said and copy the W2K ATA/Raid drivers from the CD that came with your board to a disk. Then partition and format accordingly. Before trying to load W2K go into bios and disable the Floppy drive in the boot sequence and enable the CD Rom as...
I have a 200 FSB Tbird and bought a 266 FSB chip and compared them seeing no real difference in performance or overclockability. My 200 FSB chip actually matched it and cost less. The 266 chip ran hotter so I sold it!
Compuwiz is correct as the c chips are engineered to run at a standard 266FSB (133). To crank the FSB you have to have good ram or you will be limited on how high you can go. I am using NEC VC Memory and running a "B" 1.2G Tbird I bought from compuwiz at 1454 with the FSB @153 and the...
Your best bet is to use a pelt with a water block. You should be able to clock higher and not have to worry about the heat. I have a Overclockers Hideout copper WB and 80W peltier with the shim. That I got a while back in the forum. I was going to use it with my 1.2G Tbird but was advised not to...
