I'm looking for a good web camera for my laptop to use with talking to friends/family, etc. Any companies that stand out? What would be the different price ranges for the different tiers of web cameras? Thank you.
Thinking about buying a thinkpad which comes with a Quadro FX 570M GPU. I was wondering what people would recommend in regards to OS. I plan to dual boot with Ubuntu as well. This laptop is not for gaming, but more CAD, PS, etc.
What would be the cheapest price you could build a linux rig? Main uses surfing the web, word processing, and multimedia purposes. I already have a gaming rig.
I know that LCD panel technology used in LCD desktop monitors can vary from model to model, but what about laptop LCDs? Do all LCDs use TN panels or do some use IPS, etc? I was just wonder seeing as 15" LCDs on Laptops can display resolutions as high as 1920x1200 they must use some sort of...
My current case fans are pretty noisy when running at 100%. I've been thinking about replacing them with some Scythe fans. Can anybody tell me how quiet 28.00 dBAs sound like? I've been looking at the Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F 120mm fan which pushes 63.7 CFM @ 28.0 dBA and also the Scythe Minebea...
I'm looking for a laptop for around $1000 for college. Does anybody have any recommendations for which brand to look at. I've been thinking about ASUS or DELL, but I don't know too much about laptops. Main use will be internet, watching videos, basic word documents. I would like a 15.4"...
yes my room is cold, I sleep with three blankets on. My room is also has dark walls which may also help a little and in the day time the room stays fairly dark. I would say my room is no hotter than 65F at most.
Okay just now, I realized that my computer is running hotter than usual. I can tell by just feeling the exhaust air on my case. When I go into the BIOs to check the CPU Temp it's idling 8-9 degrees Celsius higher than the usual. 28C-29C up from 19C-20C. I currently have a ZALMAN CNPS9500LED with...
what kinds of games are you playing? fps? For gaming I would either get a 5.1 system or I'll probably start a nice headphone setup. I've currently been looking into setting up a headphone rig for my new gaming rig.
The budget is around $100 maybe $150, I have done a fair amount of research on bookshelf speakers because I was looking into the Ascend CBM-170SE bookshelf speakers a while back when I was planning a system for my pc but I decided to go the headphone route. My friend said that she wants good...
Does anybody have any recommendations for good 2.0 speakers for a computer. I'm planning on purchasing a Chaintech AV-170 as well. I've been looking at some of the klipsch speakers but I would like to hear some feedback from other people too. She doesn't want anything high-end like bookshelf...
Okay when I play games with my headphones pugged into the front of my case I tend to get some noise in the background. However this only applies when I play games, i.e. Company of Heroes, but when I listen to music, i.e. through foobar2000, I don't get any interference. To use the front...
Are there any differences between the Windows XP OEM and Retail versions? What about Windows Vista? I'm looking at buying an OS for my new build and was planning on purchasing the Windows XP Home OEM as it's $100 cheaper than retail.
For quality PSUs, go with a Seasonic or a PC Power & cooling If you willing to spend a couple of hundred bucks on a PSU.
As for the sound card what will you be using with it? Speakers or headphones and an amp? You might want to look into an EMU 1212m (around $100), Chaintech AV-170 ($22)...
Thank you Fullmetal Chocobo for the link, the modding done to the 9500 seems easy enough. And thank you everybody else for the responses. I just hope my build will experience few problems if any.

System specs for my new rig are as follows:
Mobo: either the EGVA 680i or the P5N-E SLI 650i
CPU: E6600
GPU: 8800GTX (Getting tired of waiting for AMD/ATI but I probably won't SLI yet)

PSU: Seasonic M12 700W
Case: Lian-Li PC-V1000...
VanillaH knows what he's talking about and I would have to agree with VanillaH, it depends on what you'll be using it with. X-fi is probably the better choice for most games, but if you have a headphone rig and listen to music a lot, you might want to look into getting the EMU (around $100ish)...
Does anybody have any recommendations for a MB that'll run in a Lian Li inverted case without overheating. I heard that wicked heatsinks work in any direction as was wondering what other Lian Li users are using. Also I plan to upgrade to a R600 whenever it comes out.
Can all Lian Li PC-V1000 owners post which MB they have that runs without heat problems on air? I'm planning a build and would like to know which mobos don't have heat problems.
How fast is a pair of 7,200 RPM HDDs in RAID0 compared to a single Raptor? I'll probably just get a single Raptor to install the OS on, and use my Seagates to store everything on.
Is there really only about a 3% increase if you RAID0 two Raptors vs. a single Raptor? Or does a RAID0 setup really seem that much faster than a single Raptor? I'm really curious, because if it's true then I'll just stick to buying one Raptor.
I'm looking at getting a pair of Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speakers for my friend, but they'll probably need a sound card too. How do the ProMedia 2.1s sound with integrated sound when playing music and what good sound cards are there for music playback. Gaming sound doesn't matter. Also how...
Any other reccomendations for DIY bookshelf speakers that'll be better than the Z5500s and Klipsch, and a recommendation for a sub that'll work well in a 13'x14' bedroom. I'll probably just end up starting a Home Theater DIY system as It'll probably last me longer and I will get better overall...
Yes these are at the top of my budget range. I'll mainly be using these speakers for games and movies. Music wise I'll probably get a nice pair of head phones or something. These speakers will also be going into my bed room which is a decent size room. Also how much would a Acsend CBM-170 SE...
Has anybody had any problems using this PSU with this case? For example, having to remove the wall separating the PSU from the Hard Drive Cages. I'm looking for a solid PSU that will let me upgrade in the near future. Must be able to run a 8800GTX. If there are any other good 600W+ PSUs that...
Well here's the thing, my parents are paying for $2,000 of the system which is about what I have w/o the sound card and speakers. I probably won't be updating my computer for another few years either. I'm trying to build the best possible rig with a $2000 budget.
First post here. I was wondering if anybody could give me some feedback on my future system.
This'll be my first build and I was wondering if anybody had any changes they would make. Here's my list of parts:
Case: Lian Li PC-V1000APlus II
PSU: SeaSonic S12-600 ATX12V 600W Power Supply...
