My system has been running 24/7 for more than a year.....exept for 3 days when I upgraded CPU, MB and changed fluid.......
My system also is stressed quite regularly.
No leaaks....
Is this the initial boot from the CD or is a subsequent reboot during the install process. If it's the initial install, you could manually copy the i386 folder and run winnt .
Actually ram is the least of the concerns when considering Vista...
I fact the major requirement to run Vista is the HDCP factor ...M/B, GPU & monitor with HDCP/HDMI.
Really kinda depends on what CPU you have and what your primary uses are.
But to answer your question ..........Most Cl 3 522 can reach 667 @ Cl 4 with a little tweaking..
1Gb may be fine for you but most prefer 2Gb ......but again t depends on what you are doing.
OK....I am looking at this monitor:
http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/pr...x?c=uk&l=en&s=bsd&cs=ukbsdt1&sku=78642
Why s it cheaper than the 2007FPW an has better specs& HDCP!
They are not planned until 2009.
Maxttor 1 Tb is now......
Well Seagat own Maxtor now & I think this may be the 1st colaboration drive..
I don't like Maxtor either.
BTW the new Hitachi range is looking good.....The 320 in particular.
I bow to your superior kowlge.......
However , I have not been investigating CPU's vey much recently .
But I was planning a CPU/MB upgrade early next year and Kentsfield 4 core EX was my planned upgrade along with the best mainbaard available.
This damning info about core 4 really...
I am running XP SP2, made no changes to the computer by installing or uninstalling anything but when I turn the computer on, when it gets to the desktop, the folder c:\windows\system32 opens up. Any suggestions or info?
It def ends a lot on what you do, Games, video & hhotoshop...etc
The beta /RC versions of Vista have been quite heavy on memory, I topped 2gb usage on RC2 X64 while running multiple task.
Maybe the retail version will be a bit lighter on ram.
If you do normal stuff 1Gb Will be fine.
This is highly recommended- .Skill DDR2 6400 HZ 2x1GB (Micron D9xxx)
This ram has produced some outstanding numbers , this is the best you could buy.
There are many other that could be considered.
oops
yeah
Recommend- "DDR2-800 - CAS 4-4-4-12 @ 2.0V"
Tthere is not too much variance between 1.95V and 2.0V, so if your motherboard supports it, I would say just go ahead and stick with 2.0V to be safe
Yes he chips you haveare very nice. A;so the ones ones you have as mentioned can take upto at least 25v and run very sweet..and yours are starting at 1.9v!
As for future proof I would say HDCP would be a definite requirement.
And a card(s) that are direct-x 10 .
A decent 256 or 512 that has DDR4 and these capability's is what to go for.
