Which of these these sound cards?

The normal X-Gamer is the card Creative built to replace the X-Music. It is pretty much the same card. Except it is a half height card. There has NOT been any reported differences between the two cards. Avoid the X-Audio as it does not have a real X-fi DSP chip.

    Auzentech X-fi Prelude Picture.

Here is a thread with info and a Pic of the New Prelude card. I read some older threads where people seemed interested in this card. The official release date is the end of June. There is a full list of supported features in the thread. Including future support for HDMI 1.3...

That is where we got the info from of which ones to try out. There is another user that is modding the card even further by bypassing and removing certain capacitors. He says this improves sound quality also. The jury is still out on that one. The comparisons have died down alot. They...

Latley a group of us have been testing other Opamps we have tested the OPA2134's OPA2227's OPA2107's LM4562's The 2227's have a very nice bass response to them. The 2134's and 2107s are very "analytical" sounding in their response. The LM4562's seem to be the favorite now among DIY'ers...

I guess they will release the driver when it's done. Must be very nice to have all the soundcards functions under the Vista OS. Seems to be alot of mad people with other soundcards. Games that are said to work don't. The ALChemy wrapper causing BSOD's. Poor sound quality. Guys with full 7.1...

You would be better of getting a X-Gamer instead it contins the real X-fi processor.

Want surround sound in games w/optical

The X-Meridian has Dolby Headphone. Creative Lab's CMSS3D hasn't a hope in touching that. CMSS3D sounds very Hollow in comparison.

    New PC Build startup issues

to use the DMM, you will need to know the In outs of the connectors. Unfortunatley this is not a good way to test becasue you won't be able to test for current issues. You can only test for issues with Voltage. I would just swap it out. Issues like this are usually the power supply. if not...

Just saying if EAX is such a burden to you. I know all about that AC3 encoder, I know the developer. What is the top quality of in game sounds? 16/48? the encoders can be turned on or off. I see you still don't get it do you? keep studying.

On the same subject a guy at Guru3D has his Audigy 2 wired to the X-Meridian by digital. He said the Audigy 2 processes the audio for his games only and sends the audio to the X-Meridian over a digital connection. The X-Meridian outputs the sound with whatever enhacments you would like to add...

Whatever gets you through man. You shouldn't assume everybody is a gamer or even care in the slightest about gaming. I care about how the card sounds and it sounds better than a X-fi. That is all I care about and yes I have heard both. The difference is NOT slight the X-Meridian sounds alot...

You need to keep researching, you don't have the whole picture. Vista is removing Directsound support. EAX are extensions of Directsound-more or less. Instead Vista is moving to OpenAL, so you will still have game effects through OpenAL. X-Meridian will be supporting OpenAL in Vista...

No matter who does the review I guess you can't make everybody happy. I already own the card so reviews are read for something to read. People might like to think Creative cards are the only ones that sound good in games. C'mon think about it. If a card sounds good it's goona sound good no...

Most cards using the 8788 chipset are based on the C-Media 8788 reference board. They all look the same and all contain the same components. The X-Meridian is the first card CUSTOM designed to take full advantage of the 8788 Chipset. There are alot of major and some very subtle differences...

Simple point to that review, The X-Meridian sound ALOT better than X-fi. Hey Dangler, check your PM's Of course the Creative fan boys will disagree. I am just waiting for the X-tesnsion board to come out. I want all the toys for the X-Meridian.

    Multiple audio control

just to help some more, you could in theory use multiple instances of Winamp, set the direct sound out put to different stereo pairs 2/3,4/5,6/7,8/9 etc this would give you the ability to play different sound to each output...

    Multiple audio control

YOu can do this with KX drivers and Creative cards. You can map outputs to stereo pairs. e.g. fronts, rears, cntr/sub. same thing with 7.1 Audigy cards. this is the easiest way to do it without buying exensive external gear. It has been done may times with KX drivers. -it's a common thing...

Those DAC's I think are the same one used in the X-Meridian. Gald you got some good sounds going. Well if your going stereo the X-fi is capable of 24/192Khz but that is ONLY in stereo mode. AFAIK. Never considered multichannel? I love 5.1 sound... Enjoy your new X-fi.

Another one of those guys that admits it does crap resampling but say's it does it very good though. If your going to be connecting the card a HT system, then I would go with the X-Meridian over the X-fi easily. You can use the included Fibre Optic Cable or go co-ax and you'll have 24/192 of digital goodness. The X-fi's connot compete with a X-meridian in this area of audio. you will only get...
