Bacon cooked in a toaster oven..

I normally just fry in the pan, but I need to try the Feasty Boys' breaded bacon: 1 lb. Sliced Bacon 1 cup Flour 1 cup Brown Sugar 1 tsp. Black Pepper Shake up in bag, then 10-15 minutes at 350. Haven't tried it yet, but it sounds amazing.

***DETROIT RED WINGS - 2008 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS***

Go Caps! Unbelievable. Two for Green to tie and Ovechkin all on his own when it really mattered.

more right-handed or left-handed pitchers in MLB?

I think lefties are over-represented based on their portion of the general population, but still significantly minority.

So what kind of stuff does my kid need for college?

I'd add another strong endorsement of the egg-crate mattress pad. Also, didn't think the mini-fridge would be really necessary, but it definitely is--coordinate that with roommates. For shelves I had some plastic milk crates and a wire frame shelf thing you build--wait till she sees the place...

    Incorrect phrases you often hear

People thinking "cliche" is an adjective: "That expression is so cliche." And: "That didn't phase me."

    OMFG PTI April Fools

They did a good job selling it, but they shouldn't have revealed it right away. Isn't half the fun having people call/write in in shock? I guess they wanted to do the responsible thing to not annoy people.

    Happy Ivy League Notification Day!

Fall is definitely really nice. Spring is good too, except that it starts about two weeks before the semester ends. Summer is nice if you're there. Winter is, well, not that much worse than anywhere else in the Northeast. Any time of year I enjoy the busy humming of the bustling town...

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for DS

The linearity of PoR was a common criticism, and I agree. DoS was more like all the other "Metroidvania"-type games going back to Symphony of the Night, where you had one big castle and you had to figure out where to go next after getting new abilities. I thought it was cool to have other...

Tell me where to eat in NYC

Dim sum in Chinatown is fun, and pretty cheap for the huge assortment of stuff you can get. Jing Fong is one of the biggest and most famous.

Friend got a job offer from NSA??!!

Yeah, definitely. The problem here was that they were trying to intimidate her into admitting that she'd done drugs, but she's never done any. So it was pretty much a no-win.

Friend got a job offer from NSA??!!

As with others here, she also failed the polygraph twice because they didn't believe that she had never done drugs. I know for a fact she was telling the truth, so the whole thing makes me question some of these security procedures. She ended up being spared the 8 hour in-depth poly after...

Friend got a job offer from NSA??!!

A friend of mine also got an offer from the NSA and I got a visit from a retired FBI agent. The questions were all pretty simple and he was a nice guy. My favorite thing he said was after asking about foreign contacts, "I'm basically trying to find out if she's a communist." Seems like he was...

What kind job can my GF get?

Has she talked to the Harvard career office? They should be able to tell her what kind of jobs and salaries she should be looking at.

how far do u sit from your montior and what size is it?

I'm about 2 feet away from my Dell 2407, which is a bit close, but the best I can do with my cheap college apartment-furnished desk. It's kind of cool for games though as it takes up almost my whole field of view.

    Oblivion safe storage of items

Almost the very first thing I happened to do was the quest in Aleswell (on the ring road north of the Imperial City.) When you finish that you get a free bed and a chest in the inn. The chest has been 100% safe.

    How old are you?

    22. Makes sense that PC gamers are older. It's a lot easier for a teenager or younger to ask for an XBox for Christmas than a gaming rig.

How did I live without this!

I had one of those, too. So when I put together my desktop I was hooked and couldn't go lower than 24". It's great having all that resolution and not having to squint at microscopic text and 1 square inch YouTube videos. I swear that thing messed up my eyes.

    Fuddruckers

Glad to see the love for Five Guys. Back in high school I used to go to one of the original locations in Northern Virginia all the time. There were only three or four back then and now it's really exploded.

What does 'grad school' mean to you?

I generally think Ph.D. mostly because I think of "grad students" being the hardcore ones going for the doctorate. I think of people going for a masters (such as myself) as not being "true" grad students. Obviously it means both, but I think Ph.D. first.

As far as popular music goes, Yellow Ledbetter - Pearl Jam

"Flight of the Conchords" on HBO.com

I like this show a lot. The songs are clever and I also enjoy the dry deadpan of the rest of the show. It might not be big, but it definitely has all the makings of a cult hit.

Anyone have the new LG Chocolate (vx8550) ?

I also have a VX8600 and I like it a lot. I only use it for calls. It has a nice form factor and seems to have good call quality, reception and battery life. Reviews complained about the flat keypad which may be a problem for no-look texting.

    24" Monitor Recommendations

I have a Dell 2407 and it's great so far. I was wondering, though, if anyone knows anything about its HDCP compliance. Is it true that it's still not compliant over DVI? I can't seem to find much recent info about that. Is it even an issue? I don't have anything hi-def yet, but would like...

    Its college season almost

Lets see, I second mini-fridge. Also, bring a nice desk chair. Some dorms have crappy wooden chairs with no arms. You can always see if you need one when you get there. I also agree that old consoles, if you have any, are always a big hit, especially with engineers. Oh, and a toolbox with...

    Hauppauge HDTV 1600 card

I have that card. I've been using Vista media center and it seems to be good. I haven't tried anything else. This is also only for the cable--my HD antenna hasn't arrived yet.

    72 yr old pummels pickpocket....

15 years seemed really harsh to me too. I can see that for a robbery where you're threatening someone, but the whole point of pickpocketing is to go undetected. Maybe it would be too hard to legally differentiate, so they just call it robbery.

    Panel Inquiry on my Dell!

I also recently got a 2407WFP and it looks fantastic, but I have one question. Do you know anything about its HDCP compliance? I read a bunch of stuff about it not being compliant for 1080 over DVI, but most discussion seems to be from early last year. I'm not planning on getting into hi-def...

    Build me a computer

One question: if that PC comes with Vista, why are you buying XP? If there's no reason you really need to avoid Vista, you can spend that money on a nicer monitor, which would definitely be worth it.

    Antec 180 Fans

Need help with my new school computer

I'm no expert, but I have a P180 and it's really nice. It usually retails for around $130, so that is a great price. I'm not familiar with the other cases mentioned here, but this one is probably quite a bit bigger and heavier than most. Its unusual configuration also makes it more difficult...

    Installing new boot drive

I just completed my first build a couple weeks ago (thanks in large part to these forums!) Now I want to change the boot drive from a 7200 Barracuda to a Raptor. This should be simple, I'd just like someone to verify that I'm not overlooking something important. So the plan is simply to...
