Battlefield 2142 works fine on Vista, however you will need to run BF2142 as an admin or else you will receive a PB permissions error while joining a server.
I have no intentions to dump any money into it, I was just hoping I could score a mobo with PCI-E for like $40 or something.
I guess I'll sell the x1900 for like $150 and use that money to buy Vista heh
I heard about a Socket A (462) mobo a while back that had 1 AGP slot and 1 PCI-E slot. I've recently purchased a nVidia 8800 GTS for my main system and I was going to throw my x1900XT into my second PC.
I think the mfg. I heard that made this mobo was Asrock but i could be wrong. I would like...
well my BIOS hasnt changed in months, chipset drivers have been the same from the start, I built this rig little less then a year ago. I dont understand why its all started now for no reason.
After messing around I now have the keyboard and mouse plugged back into the rear of the PC and...
This is by far the oddest problem I've ever encountered.
I'll start from the begining to give all the details, I had Vista installed on a partition on my HD, I removed the partition and resized etc as I have done several times in the past.
Then, to get rid of the boot choices I did a...
I had Vista RC1 installed on a partition of my HD, as I have several times from past beta's etc.
The problem is (and is everytime because I forget how) now I have everything back to normal on my HD but everytime I start the comp it still sits me on the choice screen for vista (default too...
I honestly dont know where anyone got their reports.
Here are my personal tests with the Accelero X2 and Zalman vf900
Room Temp:

System:
AMD Opteron 165 Dual Core @2.4ghz with Zalman 7700CU @ 37c idle
Corsair XMS 2-3-3-5 DDR400
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
Asus ATI x1900XT...
I just got a new case and I'm hooking it up to my mobo.
Well the Labels on the mobo and the case pins dont match up, I know this is my firewire hookup on the mobo.
here are the layouts on the mobo (forgive it not being straight, the * indicates the pin itself)
CGND - 10 * * 05 - PWR0...

well, I dont live in the area, but I can tell you you will spend a LOT more money buying from a retail store, x1900xt runs 500-600 online... I would expect to see you pay at least 600-700 in a retail store.
I'm going to be upgrading my comp this week (parts on the way) and I already have a second comp that has a 30g and 80g in it, well it doesnt get used very much at all.
So I was wondering if it is actually better (performance and stability) to install the OS on the 30g and all the drivers and...
Well after personal experiences as well as friends living nearby, it took them 2 days JUST to process my order, another 2 days to package and ship it and then it was a day late, ZZF sucks. I just spent $1200 at newegg in the past week knowing full well I couldhave saved about 50 bucks overall...
ATI without a doubt, almost everyon I've gamed with (friends and several clans) the majority of them alwyas had better luck with ATI (myself included). nvidia always seemed to have flakey drivers and for a while you had to change drivers just depending on which game you are playing.
ATI has...
I'm not worried about the SLI or Crossfire, both seems like a waste to me. I'm interested in knowing if the new ATI RD580 chipset will allow my x1900xt to give me a better performance in games. Money isnt the issue on this build as its a trivial amount to make sure I've maximized my performance.
Well, nothing from nVidia impresses me. I've been a loyal ATI consumer for years and have never had any problems with the products nor the drivers, nVidia has not even come close to offering me the same.
As for the money difference I can only see it costing me at the MOST about $60 more...
I have recently purchased the Asus x1900XT and I have a Asus A8N-SLI Premium ordered and on the way, but I want to know if the new A8R32-MVP Deluxe from Asus when coupled with the Opteron 165 Dual Core whcih would give me the best performance??
I'm just wondering if I should get the new board...
Well, my info came straight from Asus tech support (not that tech support isnt a bunch of moneys answering phones and hitting random buttons on a keyboard for answers like a magic 8 ball) so you just take it with a grain of salt.
If the board will post thats all I want lol.
Ya I think yrou right, I'll suck it up and just get the Premium, less risk of an older bios on those, especially seeing as how fast theyt fly out of newegg the chances of getting some old bios is slim ( I think the A8N-SLI Premium is the best selling mobo currently available)
This will be my...
sounds like what happened to me when 1of my sticks of ram started to go bad, ran memtest86+ and found out I had 1 bad stick, took it out and everything ran fine.
Well I'm a pretty firm believer that SLI and Crossfire are a huge waste of money, meant only for those that need to tell everyone else how big thier e-penis is and to show how to waste money for a very minmal increase at high resolution which most peoples monitors/lcd's dont even support. Most...
ok.. maybe I'm not making myself clear, or people are choosing to not even read the post.
The deluxe will offer the SAME problem with a 50/50 chance of the motherboard not posting with the opteron 165, if it will not post I CANT UPDATE THE BIOS.
I chose the A8N-SLI because it gives me...
I dont need it put in for me I can do it but I need a cpu to put in to update the bios, and there is no question that the new bios will work with the operon 165 its just getting it to post on stock bios is my only issue, but I still need an answer to my original question of WHICH motherboard...
The board WILL work with the CPU, but some older versions of the BIOS wont recognize the CPU and will not post, thus not being able to reflash the BIOS. This is the information I got directly from Asus (before I looked into the SE as a potental solution).
At any rate if you can flash the BIOS...
I have recently been looking at buying a new mobo and have narrowed it down to the Asus A8N-SLI (or SE) and I was wondering which mobo has the best or most recent bios as I'm going to be buying an AMD Opteron 165 and I hear its a 50/50 chance of the board recognizing it. I'm currently running an...
