I thought of that, but I've been using the same driver for a month without any problems. The only thing that I think I've installed before everything started was rivatuner 2.03, but I have it in both PCs and uninstalling it did not help.
The new video card is in my other PC and today, during...
An update for anyone who's interested: I've replaced the video card (8600GT) with an old 6600GT and there seem to be no problems at all. The 8600GT I installed in another PC and again no problems. With the video cards swaped everything works perfectly.
It looks like the suspect(the video card)...
This is a weird one.
First of all, the components (the PC is few months old, zero issues until now):
mobo: Gigabyte 965P DS3, rev 3
cpu: E4300 (not OC)
video: Leadtek 8600GT
psu: Enermax noisetaker 420W
monitor: Samsung 226BW 22"
A couple of days ago I noticed during a game that the video...
My current fileserver is a pentium 4, but I'd like to replace it because I have my gaming rig in the same room and it gets pretty hot (the AC has to be on while I'm on my computer)
JackMDS, a NAS box looks like alot of trouble (many if not all of the people who bought one had problems with the...
I would like to install a file server on my wrt54gl router (dd-wrt firmware) to replace my current file server. I've thought of buying a case (with ethernet support) for one of the HDD and adding a mmc card to the router, but I'm not sure this will work. I can't put money into this if I'm not...
Update: I've just got an email back from Leadtek and they cliam all their 8x00 cards don't support manual control the fan and that the bios controlls it. This is not true since after installling the driver the fan slows down.
This is exactly what I did but the minimum speed is 100%/"GPU temp". When on Automatic the speed is 98%/"GPU temp". I can't get it lower than 100%, but I can higer.
I've already installed the 162.18 drivers and ntune. The only option in Nvidia Control Panel is for 3D and the minimum value is 100%/48C - this is also the "automatic fan control config.
Hi. I'm looking for a way to lower the fan speed from my Leadtek 8600gt card. Don't get me wrong, the card is not that loud (when in Windows), but it's the loudest component and I'm hopping to change that. When I boot/reboot the PC the fan is at full speed and the noise level is high (I think...
Your right; if not for me, maybe for the poor chap who gets the computer with the sticker and doesn't know why the temps are so high. But after meeting so many ignorant people one tends to develope certain immunity to this kind of behavior.
lamere, I apologize. I've posted the image on...

Nah, thats how I clean all my CPUs. Just use a paper towel or a lint free cloth. The alcohol should be the last thing you clean with so there are no impurities on the surface.</end quote></div>
I'm not worried about cleaning it...
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: stogez
Yeah that shouldn't be there. Take off the sticker and then get some Goof-Off or other cleaner to clean the adhesive. Then clean it with 91% rubbing alcohol and you should be fine.
Edit: Sorry about my previous posts. Your post...

You dont HAVE to remove it unless you plan on using some other kind of thermal paste. It is NEEDED for proper heat transfer between the surfaces.
If you do need to remove it, use some rubbing alcohol. You can get 91% from CVS or...
I've already posted this question in the CPU forum, but I'm hoping to get faster replies in here. I have a new CPU with a stiker on top of it's heatsink that covers almost 1/3 of the heatsink. Is it ok to install the cooler like this?
Thanks.
No cross posting. Your thread in CPU/overclocking...
Just got a new C2D processor and it has an ungly sticker on it's heatsink. Should I remove it?

This may be a stupid question, but I'm interested to know if turning off the LCD monitor from its power button could damage the monitor or the computer video card. I have a new monitor with a bright binking blue led in my bedroom and I cannot sleep with it binking in my eyes.
I've just come across the very elegant i-chill series from Inno3d. So far they include:
7300GT
7600GST
7600GT
7900GS
7950GT
and more....
The 7300GT looks like a very good choice for a gamer on budget (DDR3 and great speeds)
What do you think?
LOUISSSSS, what I meant to say was that I don't live in US so not only the prices are higher here, but also the ratio is different: for example the aurora is indeed 150$, but the p180 is way more expensive (~210$ for the p180 and ~235$ for p182); and I can't even touch the Lian Li cases.
I'm...
Thank you all for your replies.
I still haven't bought the components because there was a problem with my order. No worries, I have another list:
mobo: Gigabyte 965p DS3 rev 3.3
proc: E4300
ram: G.SKILL 2GBHK DDRII 2GB 800MHZ CL4
video card: Gigabyte 7600GS Silent
case: Gigabyte 3D...
Actualy I'm not so sure now. I've read that the active cooled one is also quiet, it overclocks better and the passive cooled one slows down when it reaches certain temperature during games.
