Is there actually a list anywhere of what games support how many cores?
Thats would be useful to know, I personally suspect that not many fully support quad cores.
isn?t this all down to the definition of "stable"
if your pc does a 48+ hour burn in test using the recognised utilities then surly its stable, overclocked or otherwise?
I think the stress tests prove if its a fully working OC or not. I have often wonderd myself though as at the end of the day stress test utilities are uually artificial and dont represent real world load.
TBH I'm using adobe premier on a Q6600 OC'ed to 3.2gig and 1333 bus and I'm quite suprised with the results. Spose it depends on the type of videos yoru making though.
was just thinking the same!
he could get another 200-300 mhz out that CPU without even trying. its criminal to have a Q6600 and OC it even a little bit!
hmmmm, why not use virtual PC with an MS DOS disk image.
you wont have to worry about windows compatability issues (as you effectivly running the apps on a complete DOS OS) but you will need to get the apps working with the virtual network adapter virtual PC uses.
I have an overclocked q6600 and having played lots of games over the past year I feel I could have managed just was well with a dual core overclocked higher, if not better.
If you mean you put a new HD in your pc just right click on my computers, go to MANAGA, go to disk manager, right click on the unallocated space and create a new basic drive using all the space... format, assign drive letter of your choice, Job Done
I;m assuming your talking about the text based setup screen
you probably have to get the drivers off the driver CD, put the on a floppy disk and press F6 (I think) when it asks you if you want to setup any 3rd party scsi drivers durin windows setup.
download the CD image from here and burn:
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
boot off that CD and you have a mass of freeware formatters, disk erasors (really secure) defraggers, disk cloners, etc.... plus a lod of other tools
go to the website of the company who makes your hard drive, they should have a tool that you can use to low level format the hard drive.
once you have done that i cant see why you would not be able to install XP, unless you have a hardware problem.
use netlimiter to limit your upload speed
if you max out your upload then bittorrent cannot send ACK's back timly fashion and your downloads will slow down.
In your sutiation I woudl do the same thing, you can get 1gig that way.
anyway, standard cat 5 cabel would start to deteriorate afrter 5 years. you could buy strips of plastic cable shield from these guys: http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/
I cannot see any reason why this would not be legal...
was gonna suggest this myself. I seen lots of instances where 1gig cards autodetect down to 100, even when 2 computers are connected direct with a crossover cable.
hmmm, I dont know about that router, so I dont know if it can tell you what you need to know.
one free way to find out is it install DU meter on all pc's so when a lag happens you can go back and look at the graphs.

We had the head network guy tell us that cisco wont support our core switches once they are 3 years old. They want us to trade them in for newer models which woudl costs us tens of thousands. This is really anoying as there hardly a spec of dust on this hardware and now cisco want nothing to...
