thanks for the capacity %s, Idontcare. I think I will hold off on the DRAM speculation then :)

    D-Ram Surplus -> Shortage

There was an overabundance of D-Ram manufacturing capacity, causing Qimonda to go out of business and others to cut back on production by 50%. There are huge stockpiles of D-Ram driving the price down, but once those stockpiles are gone, there may not be enough supply to keep up with demand...

    Not posting = Celeron + P965

I tried the jumper on the other two pins and also the jumper completely off. On the other two pins, it wouldn't power on. Completely off all pins and it would power on but no POST (and no beeps). :( I'm going to RMA this mobo. Hopefully it is the mobo and not something else. I tried...

Yeah, from what I am able to interpret, Jack, the board came to me with the jumper set to "clear" and I did power on the board in that position. Does that likely mean that I inadvertently nuked the mobo?

Thanks. My motherboard has a 8-pin connector where that is. That is plugged in. I will insure tonight that there isn't a 4-pin CPU connection that I'm missing.

    Building a new Computer*Input needed*

This computer will be a dedicated protein "folder" for Folding@Home. The error I'm getting is the computer is not posting and I am getting no beeps. Pretty sure everything is plugged in. I tried switching the RAM to the other color coded pair. Reseated the CPU & heatsink. Fans are running...

Any known issues with EVGA 122-CK-NF63-TR?

    Cannot Stream

I cannot stream videos from sites like Gamespot. I am not sure what I'm missing. I've reinstalled ActiveX (and deleted old files before the reinstall). I have the latest Windows Media Player (the old one wouldn't stream either). I tried turning video acceleration all the way off in WMP... no...

Is it worth the wait for the R600 to come out for prices to drop on the 8800?

Well, Dailytech.com said the R600 benchmarks were poor, but their test may have been frelled up. If the R600 isn't superior to the G80 line for gaming, then I don't think you will see much more of a price drop from nVidia. As far as a date, AMD said in their conference call that "we don't do...

Is it worth the wait for the R600 to come out for prices to drop on the 8800?

I read a rumor that they are going to intro the price at $500. If so, nVidia will need to lower their price or risk not selling many of their cards.

Need an mATX board for E4300 overclocking

The case that I am partial to is the Rosewill R604-P Black 120mm Fan ATX Mid Tower. I like to keep my graphics cards cool and this case has a vent right over the spot where the graphics card goes and holes to mount a 120mm fan. In the front, it has an adjustable grill and you can mount a 120mm...

Does the nForce advantage still exist?

remember when nForce 2 and 3 first came out and it really paid off to use the nForce boards because of the improved bandwidth of them? Does this advantage still exist, or did the p32xx boards catch and pass the whole nForce thing?

    Case Suggestions Appreciated

the TJ-09 looks great and the side vent is in a great spot for graphics card cooling. If the graphics cards are 2-slot cards (which is good for stock cooling), you could have the side vent blow in directly on the GFX cards and have the front fan blow in. Then the two GFX cards would blow out...

Best case under (or around) $50-$75?

I'm a big fan of the Rosewill R604-P ATX Mid Tower Case. $43 (including shipping). 120mm front/rear/GPU vent fan mounts. I run one or two high-end graphics cards in those cases though.

My computer shocks the bejesus out of me.

As far as humidifying and books, what I would do is simply not start out a humidifier at full blast. I would set it to a medium setting and see how the static and the room reacts. You also do not want to do high humidity because it is still cold (if you live in cold states). I live in Indiana...

XClio Windtunnel - Dual 250mm fans and hold the rice. - Egads!

If I was "intentionally stoking" my post count, I would post replies like this that say "thanks for the info" instead of my other posts which say something. Just because I reply to quite a few topics, it simply means I am looking at the topics and finding ones I consider appropriate for me to...

    temps for x1950xt

Yeah, you can use something like ATITool to bump the fan speed up to 50%. It sounds a little high for a 2-slot card. If it is a single slot card then it makes sense.

XClio Windtunnel - Dual 250mm fans and hold the rice. - Egads!

Yessir-ee! There was a time when you had only 14 posts, right? For me, the Rosewill R5604 or the like does not have a couple of features (for me) that the 604-P has. (1) big GPU side vent, and (2) good front airflow. Plus the Rosewill 604-P is cheaper. As is you need to drill the R5604 to...

Cutting Out Fan Holes from Exhaust and Front Intake

I used a Dremel once, got halfway done with it and noticed I had some SMALL pruning scissors. They took more muscle power than the Dremel, but were SAFER, LESS NOISY, and I didn't have to worry about metal filings. The scissors are probably less than 2 inches long on the blade... good for the...

    Slow down the case fans...

I'd go buy a bunch of Thermaltake Smart2 fans, 80mm or 120mm, they come with adjustable speed controllers. About $11 a pop on the 120mm's at newegg.com

XClio Windtunnel - Dual 250mm fans and hold the rice. - Egads!

Hmmm, The XClio 188A looks very nice for cooling down a GPU, and pretty cheap at $50. The only thing I don't like about that is the LED light on the fan and I don't really see where I can buy 250mm fans w/o LED to use as a replacement. My fav cheap case with good locations for vents, etc, is...

My computer shocks the bejesus out of me.

I once lived in a place in Chicago and during the winter, the static and shocking was ridiculous! The heater that warms your place, sucks the humidity out of the air and can cause shocking, dry skin, and it can affect sleep too. If this is the case, get a humidifier with a digital readout and...

    Case help

Hey Kuba, if you can buy in the US, your options go up exponentially. Not sure how "bad" shipping will be. I made the mistake recently of not buying online for a case and thinking that the local store (Frye's) would have a decent selection of cases that had good cooling attributes. I was...

what is the best way to arrange the many fans one has??

It's also good to have somewhat net-neutral airflow--meaning equal air in and equal air out. So if you have two-slot graphics cards that blow air directly out of the slot, then you may want at least 2 of those fans pointing in.

$200 budget for SuperMid - FullTower ATX Case - wut would u get

Some of my favorites are the XCLIO A380 full tower. It has two 250mm fans which can move the same air as a 120mm fan, but at a 1/4 of the speed and move less sound. One fan in the front and one in the side. The huge fan in the front would be good for your 3.5" drives. I don't know about dust...

Core2duo with 8800gtx overclocked and very silent?

I did a bunch o' research on cases and found this one that should be fairly quiet. XCLIO A380 full tower case. Image It's a full tower case with two 250mm fans. The bigger the fan, the more air it can move at the same speed as a smaller fan. A 250mm fan can probably move 4x the air...

Getting almost 80 degrees C with good cooler. Why?

I did not mount my motherboard, CPU, & heatsink properly the first time and my system would post and then shutdown after the CPU hit 80C+. 1) Motherboard should be mounted onto the case and actually resting on top of the spacers that come with the motherboard. If you did not do this step...

best 80mm intake fan for cfm?

Here's my idea... Design some kind of tunnel, put a 120mm or 250mm case fan inside & line the insides of the tunnel with sponges to dampen sound. The tunnel would need to be big enough so the sponges do not actually restrict airflow.

Recommend me a LGA775 Cooler please

You may want to try www.overclockers.com for some articles about cooling/reducing noise. One tip you may want to try is buying a half dozen or more of sponges (cleaning sponges) and attaching them to the inside of the case. Like putting carpet in a sound room or practice studio, this will help...

    Some questions about case cooling

I've read some of the advice over at www.overclockers.com, so I have some of the basics down. I think I'm ready to ask some specific questions. I just built a rig with two double-slot ATI x1950xtx's to crunch data for Folding@Home. The graphics cards are both double slot, so they have the...
