    proper steps for iPhone/iTunes/Windows backup/restoration?

Is there a tutorial on the steps you do each time you have to reinstall Windows? If you just reinstall iTunes you may lose user settings and/or iPhone back ups.

    5770: stable or not?

I'd like to upgrade my 8800 GTS to an HD 5770 but I'm concerned about some reports of general system stability with drivers. What do you think? I'd be willing to spend a bit more if I was sure I'd have more chance of success, but my choices seem limited. Rest of my system: E6600, P5K, 2GB...

    Beware of Enermax's warranty services

No, and the problem may be for those not living in Ontario. I don't doubt that you're getting adequate services from the main office there but you really have to press them hard to get any service here. People here seemed not wanting to deal with these warranty services despite being connected...

    Any nView-like programs for Vista?

How did you get nView on Vista? From what I read it was available for XP only: ? nView Desktop Manager nView Desktop Manager is available as a separate applet for Windows XP only." http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=20094

    Any nView-like programs for Vista?

nView in XP allows you to define keyboard shortcuts to quickly do certain actions such as moving windows to a different monitor. nView is not available in Vista however. Are there certain programs or ways in Vista to do the things that nView can do?

    Beware of Enermax's warranty services

I've looked the other way because I've been lenient, but check out these other reports: <Your best choice is to contact Enermax USA by toll free and voice your displeasure with the quality, then with the shady service by Comtronic. They can to some extent influence Comtronic to remedy this...

    Beware of Enermax's warranty services

My Enermax Noisetaker 485W PSU broke down after a year of use. I dropped it off with Enermax's warranty service provider in Canada in April 2007. They took the PSU and gave me an form that says "takes about 6-8 weeks" and said I would receive a call. It has been almost three months now and I...

Are there any breakthroughs with LCD monitors?

If you're happy with your current monitor then who cares. I just bought a Samsung rated at 2ms response but the unit I got has video artifacts (pixels lagging/ghosting).

It's a GF4Ti running on XP with the most recent Nvidia driver. I just reinstalled XP yesterday but same results.

is my new LCD defective? Ghosting problem (video inside)

I'm not what it's called either but basically you can see remnants of text as you scroll. I tried different refresh rates (59,60,75hz) with similar results.

is my new LCD defective? Ghosting problem (video inside)

It's a new Samsung 931bw LCD but there are some issues with ghosting (or lag, whatever you call it) in certain situations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twa4rYuLpXU It's not terribly obvious but kind of annoying when I see it. Would you return this unit?

Recommend a high image quality LCD

My 7 year old 21" CRT monitor has just died. It had served me well, but now I need a new monitor that can replace it. I'm looking for a newer high quality 19-22" LCD that has been reviewed and considered to have relatively good color reproduction and general image quality compared to lesser...

    Seasonic 380w+8800gts 320mb?

Those wattage numbers are for the whole system. A 8800 GTS 320mb by itself will never draw more than 150 watts: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/msi8800gts-640_6.html

    8500GT + 8800GTS together, possible?

Yes from what I read most of the Radeon HD 2XXX-series (except the 2400 Pro) will have ATI's new Avivo which accelerates both h264 and VC-1 video. The Geforce 8500/8600 only accelerates VC-1 partially. I'm not sure how well ATI's drivers handle multi-card, multi-monitor setups. If anyone has...

    8500GT + 8800GTS together, possible?

Being a pessimist I worry that if I mix the two cards together, somehow the 8500GT's acceleration will be disabled or useless due to the presence of another card. And since very few people use such a setup, I can only speculate.

    8500GT + 8800GTS together, possible?

Yes I need 4 monitor ports.

    8500GT + 8800GTS together, possible?

Yeah I wished the 8800 GTS had h264 acceleration. I've waited a long time to upgrade, and now the obvious answer is: wait a bit longer before upgrading! Since I need multi monitor I'd still need to use two cards though.

do you mean that OpenGL/DirectX conflicts are common when mixing videocards?

    8500GT + 8800GTS together, possible?

Is it possible to use a 8500 GT simultaneously with a 8800 GTS in XP/Vista: use both cards at once for multi monitor in Windows desktop; use the 8800 GTS for games; and use the 8500 GT for h.264-acceleration for movies? Nvidia's driver page for 8800 GTS states that it supports 8500 GT.

using DX10 and DX9 cards at the same time

So in XP you can simply install two different Forceware drivers for two cards, and no special configurations are required?
  22. A

using DX10 and DX9 cards at the same time

Actually I think you're right for the 8800's XP driver which apparently supports that series only, but for the 8800's Vista driver it lists other cards as well. This implies that mixing 8800 and older cards may work in Vista but not in XP. Hmph.

    8800Ultra for $999??

I'll bet you that in 20 years $1000 gaming cards/peripherals will be very common. Inflation + economic growth + complexity of games. BTW $999 is more than what you have when you live paycheck to paycheck. It's 1% for someone with $100k in cash. Or 0.01% of $10m. When you have a billion...

using DX10 and DX9 cards at the same time

I don't wish to install two versions of Forceware. The 8800 driver page states that it supports DX9 for GF6/7/8 cards. Can I use the 8800 driver alone for both the 8800 card and the older card? Basically I have two requirements, high performance DX10 and quad-monitor support. Another way is...

using DX10 and DX9 cards at the same time

If you use both say an 8800-series and an older DX9 PCI-E videocard at the same time, for multi monitor purposes, would this cause foreseeable problems (driver, etc) in Windows XP/Vista?

multimonitor with Nvidia AGP+ATI PCI card?

I need quad monitor support. Right now I use dual monitors with an Nvidia AGP card (GF4). Will drivers likely be an issue if I drop a cheap ATI PCI videocard with dual video ports (eg Radeon 7000) into the system in order to get quad monitor support? Or does Nvidia make dual-head PCI cards?

    Vista shortcuts question

I'd like to make keyboard shortcuts (eg Ctrl+Alt+X) that open up my own files and folders. In XP I could do this by placing the shortcuts in the user's Start menu. How do you go about doing this in Vista?

    multi monitor setup + gaming

I'm going to be doing this in the near future. I'll probably get two of the new cheaper GF8s to run 3/4 monitors. This way I get multi monitor, SLI in games and DX10.

how to remember login passwords for remote drives?

My Windows XP (MCE 2005) prompts me to re-enter the login user name and password for remote hard drives whenever I try to access them after each reboot. Is there a way to make the system remember the password so that I don't have to type it in every time? There is no "remember the password"...

    IE7 links question
