    EVGA's 8800GTS 320MB

Prices should drop in the next week or two. If you're a gamer grab the 640 instead of the 320 for a few bucks more. I don't do SLI but I'd imagine 2 GTS's would outperform a GTX. DX10 is only on vista and if you have it then the question is...what's the best performer. Your only option...

Looking for help building a computer...

That setup will be fine. 2gb ram is plenty. I have yet to have a cpu quit on me from overclocking, overvolting and all. I usually hold on to my cpu's for 3-4 years as secondary pc's. The PSU should be fine. Like someone else said...go SATA, either raptor or the 3gb/s if your board supports it.

Questions about which CPU etc. to get

I've never used the board myself either, hence you have to look at what people say about it. And if you pay more than $100 for a DVD burner, it better say "Blu-ray" on it somewhere. All review boards are biased a bit, especially forums (even this one). You can always find someone who thinks...

    Somewhat Quick Question

A dvd burner isn't gonna cost much (less than $100)...assuming you don't mean a blu-ray burner or something crazy like that. You can't go wrong with any brand of 8800 really, just look for what you want. Some brands have higher overclocks/better warranty/games. I personally have a Foxconn...

    Help with Computer build please

As long as it's DDR2, the RAM should be fine. Cases are fairly subjective, the one you listed sounds nice...at least it appears to be aluminum, although I've never heard of the brand. I'm not sure about the PSU in it at that price for both. The reviews sound good and if any of the fans are...

Need some help troubleshooting my problem here.

So you're saying that your new video card works fine without any drivers installed? I was gonna say yank the card put the old one back see if it works, then put the new card back in and try again.

    Somewhat Quick Question

If you're a gamer, grab an 8800 GTS (may be price cuts in about a week or two) and grab a dual core with the rest of the money.

AMD to Kill ATHLON name for high-end??

You can't please all the people all the time. You could name the thing "sex" and people would come up with a reason not to like it....I mean who doesn't like sex?;)

Questions about which CPU etc. to get

Your PSU should be enough I guess...depending on brand. I like to be around 500w, but you don't have any big juice suckers so I wouldn't worry about it at the moment....but if you get strange problems it would be my first suspect. ...no problem and welcome to the boards:)

    Hmm... new build.

I just never knew about the SATA II misnomer and was just passing it along, I figured you mean 3gb/s. I really haven't had much noise from my stripe raptors, but I watercool them so maybe that helps? I've yet to join the DDR2 group, I'm still on the 939 socket and just recently upgraded from...

Questions about which CPU etc. to get

You should see a significant difference in an upgrade from a 2400 to an X2 3800. If you want to spend the extra little bit of cash you get even more performance, it's up to you whether it's worth it. The jump from your old to 3800 will be big, but from a 3800 to 4200 not so much...maybe the...

Any way to run 3 DDR modules with DFI LANparty UD?

How much are your headaches worth? I have the same board and had 2x512gb and wanted to upgraded to 2gb as well a couple years back. Here's what I learned... You won't be able to use mixed mb/gb (1x 1gb & 2x 512mb). All I tried to do was 4x512...and even that wouldn't work because that...

    Hmm... new build.

Your old system isn't exactly horrible for gaming, bump the cpu and another gig of ram. Anyway, your new setup should be fine. I wonder about the difference between your raptors and the SATA 3Gb/s for gaming. By the way, I was just looking at the Abit board you posted and read up about...

    Water Cooling Suggestions?

I can only restate my previous post, I can only recommend it because every site I read a review on said it was a good cooler. I think that your blanket statement about those brands is wrong. I understand what you are trying to say about not doing things half assed, but if you don't have the...

    Water Cooling Suggestions?

I just read three different reviews from respectable sites and they all said this unit was "good". I haven't personally used it so I can't say it isn't worth a damn, so that's when I look at people who have actually used/review it. I never judge a brand name systematically, there are...

    Water Cooling Suggestions?

I believe he asked what was the cheapest/lightest, not what is superior no matter the cost. I was like you, I didn't think I'd spend anywhere near what I spent...but then I wasn't looking for cheap. $300-400 for a water cooling system is more than just good (not getting into peltiers) and...

    Water Cooling Suggestions?

It took me about one minute and thirty seconds to pull this off of Google. CPU All in one Water Cooling Kit Sub $100. I believe that there are several reviews out there that call this "good". This should qualify for: I guess I should have qualified myself before making statements...

    OCZ 700w -or- Seasonic 650w

OCZ is a brand I trust in any product, however, I'd take the Seasonic because of the effiency...less heat and less energy wasted.

    Water Cooling Suggestions?

Depends on what you want to cool. If you just want to cool the cpu there are some good kits out there...if you want to cool more then you're looking at a lot more money. I spent $130 just for the 8800 GTS block (Danger Den).

    need some recomendations

Corsair makes excellent RAM...that would be 2gb of RAM by the way, which is what you want. In my opinion, I would go with more than 500w for a PSU. Zalman's are great for cooling.

    SATA Woes

The first thing I'd do is install one piece of hardware at a time. When you get one working, install the next. You shouldn't need drivers for a sata drive, unless you meant you have a sata controller card that you needed drivers for. If this is the case you may have a bad sata card.

    Computer rebooting during windows boot

I suggest you undo what you did...get it back to it's original hardware configuration. See if it will still work as it once did. If you can get it back to working again...try adding back the hardware and see if it works still. If you can't get it to work no matter the...

    What's a good benchmark tool?

If it was me, I'd google "cpu benchmark tools". I haven't benched my cpu in a long while, SiSoft Sandra comes to mind...not that I can remember if that's actually one. There's future mark tools that bench cpu's and gpu's.
