I just got my non HC 2407 and it is glorious. No dead pixels and the little things on a $600 monitor really do make for a more enjoyable experience (monitor stand, pip, pbp, 1:1). This thing really is large though so make sure you see one in a store to decide if you really need one this big

The man is quite right no cpu from intel or amd would ship with a sticker on the heatsink. Imo some dude scrapped a pc for parts and put a label on the cpu to sell it
the es is unnecessary for personal use. just buy whatever is cheapest (out of Seagate and WD- personally I would rather have speed then the acoustics of Samsung)
btw a few degrees doesn't really matter
your temps are fine although your processor is a little warm in load
is your 7800 factory overclocked? Mine used to crash as well in certain games and I found out (by underclocking) that the instability was caused by this factory overclock and RMA'd it
hmm to add another degree of insanity to this, the problem stopped when I restarted my computer after turning off the tv out in nvidia control panel (or so I thought) but reemerged a few hours after said reboot
Whenever I play a media file every 20 seconds or so the song/movie will stutter. This started happening the other day and is perplexing me. Is it the hd on the way out (SMART has no warnings) a corrupted audio codec, or what? Any insights would be appreciated.
Is your 6800 pci-e? If so I would save the money for now and hold off until you can afford something like an 8800 GTS 320mb. The difference is appreciable, but if not the 8600 is a good choice.

It is pretty much a tie although the seagate technically wins due to longer warranty. I have that sames Seagate and works great, although noise is more noticeable than my samsung
I'll be starting college in the fall and am looking for recommendations for laptops. I am majoring in EE but the school has not indicated that I will need any particular laptop so I'm guessing that I won't need to be able to run CAD programs.
Price: around 2k but am flexible
Gaming: I have...
Go with a Corsair, OCZ, or Seasonic PSU I have had good experiences will all of these. As for OS, if you are going to get Vista might as well get 64 and get 4gigs of ram to make use of the superfetch...but do you really think that going Vista will save you calls from this family member...
Ok so I was experimenting overlocking my 4800 toledo and I noticed something odd. When I ramped up the voltage to 1.5v from 1.33v the idle temps dropped from about 34 to 24v. Anyone understand this?
