    SATA BLU-RAY 2x Burner for 529.98

$18 for the 25gb discs $40 for the 50gb discs No the cheapest as far as $/gb, but hopefully they'll drop. As for myself, I use ultrium tapes to back-up TBs of data.

    Mousing Surface?

I went to Lowe's and bought a 14x14" slab of marble. It makes a great mouse surface, very unique, and works great with a laser mouse. It causes some problems with regular optical mice though, so keep that in mind.

Micro ATX Board in ATX Tower?

Yea, a micro-ATX will fit fine in an ATX case. The screw holes will still match up...you'll just have some space between the bottom of the board and the bottom of the case. I'm actually using a mini-atx board in a G70 for the time being. Yes, it looks a little goofy, but it just needs to...

    P4-M in a desktop?

So my laptop has died off this last week (video and memory problems) and I was wondering whether I can use the 1.8ghz P4-M chip to build up a media pc. I'm specifically looking at this board: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=683 It mentions...

    Blu-ray is king.

http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4907181?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Might want to start looking things up before talking about vaporware. I'm not saying this is "affordable", but DL blu-ray discs exist and I can go pick one up in about 20 minutes if I felt like.

A good HSF for the good ol northwood.

Cookie Monster, to be honest, I had a junk/loud HSF on an older P4 1.6A before I got my 2.8C with retail hsf. So my perspective may be a little warped since the first thought that went through my mind was "wow, this retail hsf is a real piece of work! I can actually have a conversation within a...

A good HSF for the good ol northwood.

I've got the 7700cu and it's worked well for me. I'm at around 42C load on a stock 2.8C northwood (it hit ~50C max when I was O/Cing it to 3.2 IIRC). I've actually had it idle down to 22C when a cold front came in...it wasn't very comfortable in the room when the only heat was coming out of the...

I have no idea about any of those questions. If anyone does, I'd love to hear about the differences. I'm positive it'll be an upgrade over onboard sound.

Secondary PSUs for video cards or hard drives.)

Kind of related, how much power does a typical hard drive require? I'm looking at a few drive specs and it seems they typically need about 13w each (Seagate 7200.10 in particular, but I'm guessing it's about the same for most drives). Is this about right?

    Core 2 Duo Photoshop test

1min 27sec on a p4 2.8 northwood w/ 2 gigs pc3200 (using CS2) I had it clocked at 3.2ghz, but dropped it back to stock speeds a few weeks ago. I might try the o/c again later.

    Could I upgrade my

Processors are DEFINITELY not soldered...I just took my T30 more or less completely apart earlier today, unplugged the CPU and everything. Put everything back together and I'm typing this reply on the T30 right now. So I'm pretty sure that the processor on the T4x series is also...

    Disassembling a T30

Does anyone know exactly how to completely disassemble a T30? (Like removing the entire bottom piece and having access to the entire motherboard)...I removed all of the screws but the thing's still not moving. Also, since the P4-M is a 478-pin chip, I'm *kind* sure that the P-M will physically...

    PC2700 on a T30

I'm planning to add another 256mbs to my T30, but I've got a decision; I can buy 256mb of PC2700 that normally goes into the T41 for about the same price as the PC2100 that goes into the T30. My question: will the T41 memory still work if I use it on the T30? I know that (if it works) it'll run...

Question about the newer Geforce cards...been away for awhile...last I knew was Geforce 4...can you help update me?

had a similar question a while back and i was referred to this link. Compares all of the newer cards with most of the relatively old ones, so you can get an idea of where you stand. Hopefully it'll be updated with the upcoming offerings from ATI and Nvidia.

IBM announces Intel 2200BG Wireless Card

Hey guys, I'm new here, so I'll get straight to the point. I've got a T30 (model 2366) with a built-in (mini-pci) 802.11b card that needs upgrading. Does anyone know if the 2200BG is compatible with this lappy? I know it doesn't say so on that page, but i'm still hoping it might be (or that...
