    X38 Release Delayed Again

Your posts are rambling, incoherent, and immature. Forget trying to talk any sense into this walking blunt instrument named T2k. You've made your point quite well to those that care to listen and digest.

    X38 Release Delayed Again

Wrong. Never happened, no way, no how. The E4400....maybe. The Q6600 for $180 is a fantasy.

    X38 Release Delayed Again

Could you please advise where you're buying $180 Q6600's so that I can go purchase about 100 of them? Thanks.

Data Recovery Software - fastest / best out there??

I have a friend who's laptop HDD is on it's last legs. Unmountable_boot_drive error...... Clicking sounds.... Intermittent Beeps from the motherboard / system..... I took the HDD out and I have it in an external enclosure. All of the data is corrupted, but I'm going to do my best to...

A very, very, very bad thing happened. Now I come to you for help.

It's the motherboard. I swapped all of the components out after trying every possible replacement part I could come up with and the motherboard was the issue. Me thinks the NB is kaput. Warranty time.

A very, very, very bad thing happened. Now I come to you for help.

The DeBug card was from a company called StarTech and it's just a little tan-colored PCB with a 2-digit LED readout and 3 x GAL16v8 CMOS Logic chips. Nothing too fancy, but since it was the only one that the store carried (and they're not known for being the best when it comes to prices...

A very, very, very bad thing happened. Now I come to you for help.

**UPDATE** As you can see, I never replied again after the last post made from work yesterday. :( I went to the local shop and grabbed a Debug and a new motherboard, in case the mobo was dead, I could pop another in. After taking everything apart, inspecting all of the items, cleaning...

A very, very, very bad thing happened. Now I come to you for help.

Thanks for the compliment. The CPU cooler has a backplate. The NB Cooler only has the plastic pins. I'm starting to wonder if there is any wiring exposed on the fan wire between the 2 coolers and by adjusting the NB cooler, I bumped the wire into one of them. I'll have to check that when I...

Here's a pic of the set-up. Mobo with coolers..... Another angle.

That's so weird though, because it happened the exact split-second that the NB cooler touched the CPU cooler.

A very, very, very bad thing happened. Now I come to you for help.

That pretty much sums it up. I installed Everest Ultimate to check temps. Didn't like what I saw, so I leaned over to gently adjust the NB (Thermalright HR-05-SLI) cooler and it touched the Ultra 120 X that was quite close to begin with. No pop. No smoke. No nothing.....just an instant...

So, if you HAD to choose.....

I simply meant a "dud" in terms of performance vs. the rest of the results that people end up getting. The 50% that score above the normal overclock potential chips would equal a quality version.... The 50% that score below the normal overclock potential chips would equal a "dud" version...

So, if you HAD to choose.....

Initial results looks good.....but this thing likes voltage. I have a lapped Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro on it at the moment, that doesn't exactly keep it chilly. I'm lapping a Scythe Mine Rev. B as soon as I finish typing this, and I have a TR Ultra 120 Extreme arriving sometime between now...

So, if you HAD to choose.....

Well, the proof is in the pudding. Mine has arrived at the local processing center and will arrive today (possibly) or tomorrow (at the latest). That means this weekend will be used to provide details on whether or not we have a winner or a dud. I'm not too proud to say I was wrong, so if...

So, if you HAD to choose.....

How's this.... http://static.flickr.com/81/228523823_c8b3a6e16d_o.jpg In addition to that, you just said that it can't be done, but if it CAN be done, the life of the CPU has to be cut in half......kind of a "can't win" post. :) Modern CPU's last for years - if this only lasts for 6 years...

So, if you HAD to choose.....

Because it's about an even swap for the price I can sell my E6420 at. Not that it WOULD be a dud.... It's that it COULD be a dud.... You never know. I chose to pay a much lower price for a proven performer with basically nothing out of pocket after I sell the CPU I'm using at the moment.

So, if you HAD to choose.....

To answer the first question at the top of the post - My E6420 at 3500Mhz is the max I've been able to get it Orthos stable. The ceiling for me is not much higher than this at around 3580Mhz. I run it 24/7 at 3333Mhz on 1.4v, so if I found something that ran at 3.6Mhz or higher on a daily...

So, if you HAD to choose.....

I'm looking to buy immediately. If you were me and the choices were: 1. An E6600 that has hit 3740Mhz on air for $165 shipped 2. Retail Russian Roulette for an E6750 (sub $200) or an E6850 (sub $275) that could be a dud or could be a beast. Those are your choices. Which would YOU...

    Dangers of Overclocking?

I was with you all the way until the end there..... That's just impossible for you to claim. First off, you would probably only see a 10c rise in temp by adding 0.1v if you were using stock cooling.......even then I don't think that would be the case, but there are so many variables to...

    Dangers of Overclocking?

Voltage itself is rarely the killer, as most motherboards are limited in BIOS as to how high they will go. (1.55v, 1.6v, 1.7v, etc) The main killer is almost universally understood to be TEMPERATURE. I've posted this before, but it's perfectly fitting here, so I'll post it again:

July 22nd Intel Price Cut Chart

I agree completely. By the time I'm ready for Quads, the Core 2 Ocho will be all the rage. :) With a C2D at 3.5Ghz, air cooled - you're just being greedy if you still think you need a quadcore system to open that spreadsheet....... heh heh.

E6750 will be the sweet spot and the mass-seller, IMHO. It's already returning great reviews from sites that have received test samples.
