I know it is a couple of days late but it does come with two types of screws flat head and thumb screw. Use the flat head in the tight area and the thumb screw in the open area. Link
Personally it is a big risk to take leaving the screw off. One I would never chance.
I agree with Blazer7 here. I have the QX6700 and the 680i Rev 1 board. I bought this board because of the features this board has and was suppose to be the mother of all board for over clocking yet I am unable to get far at all. It is like buying a Corvette yet the fastest you can go is 45MPH...
here is a screen shot @ 340 FBS.
340 FSB
I don't have time tonight but tomorrow night I will take a couple of screen shots above 400.
Now during stability test my temps get to 78º and above so I stop the test. Note: I am using Bios F3 unit the F4 is fixed.
Personally I think the Monsoon II would be good on a dual core system. I really don't think it can handle quad core system. I have replaced and add a second fan to mine with this Fan so I can get the overclock that I have now.
sskmercer,
I have a question for you. Reading your sig you say the 680i is FSB limited. Just wondering if you have played with other settings. Example @ 400x8=3.2GHz I would crash before windows would load. But when I went to 425x8=3.4GHz 1.45v I was able to load into windows. <- Not stable...
I agree very good memory!
When you get your system together can you let us know how good the 120 Extreme performs.
Note: Just to let you know I am not saying that the 120 Extreme is a bad heat sink. In fact it is probably the the best air cooler out there. I am just stating the QX6700 is...
I have read good things and bad things (mostly good things) about the Ultra 120 Extreme but have not seen any one with one on a QX6700. If you have a link please share. I just have not found any type of air cooler to be able to keep the temps down while overclocked.
Like myocardia stated with PC8500 DDR21066 ram to reach 1:1 setting you will need FSB of 533. I guess with a 680i board you can run your ram unlinked.
PS Good luck trying to keep that QX6700 Cool on air!!
I like PC Wizard 07 PCWizard2007
I am running Vista And I have no problems with it at all. The more and more I use the more I like it. I don't see why people are complaining about it.
This is the same file name as the last one. Is it the same file just named final or is it different?
Wow! This was a long post! I want to thank all of you for all the info provided. And I want to thank Gary Key for the new Bios Beta's. Also to let you know about the QX6700 on this board. I currently have my QX6700 @ 340 FSB with the 10 multiplier using the F2 Bios. Tonight i will flash to F4E...
I can understand if you are running 512 of ram that closing extra process to give an extra 80-90mb worth wild... But running 2gb of there is no difference in gaming since your games does not use the full ram. Unless you can tell a game that requires more than 2gb? Maybe I am wrong, I mean lets...
I completely disagree!!! So tell me how laggy do you get when AV is trying to scan in the background when are playing online games. Or do you disable that before you play. Every game that I have tried works great with my Dual Core. Going Dual Core is the best thing I have did. Friday I was...
Funny I have never had a problem running games and I have not yet install any patches for the X2... What "old games" are you talking about... I have ran the old GTA2 with no problems... Honestly Dual Core is a much better gamer CPU... Never have to worry about the virus scanner turning on or...
