1. PC will be used for HTPC. Music/HD video output. Computer will act as a NAS as other machines on my network will access content directly though this PC.
2. Budget is $1250ish, parts listed with price from Newegg.
3. Buying in USA from Newegg only (using my priority card 0% APR offer)...
So I've got an old Socket 754 system I'm looking to upgrade in my den and I just built a couple of 690G systems and really liked them. Very simple to use and build.
My Antec TruePower 550w is the original one without the Faquhahok capacitors that explode and I'd rather not replace it because...
Sometimes they get in the way. Here's what can happen with those things:
1. They can prevent the motherboard from sitting right when you're trying to screw it in
2. They can accidently pop out and prevent you from inserting whatever (like a PS/2 mouse or Ethernet cord)
3. They can cause a...
Just to let everyone know.
These now have a different heatspreader and a black 6-layer PCB versus the old HZ with a more traditional style heatspreader and a green 4-layer PCB.
I mixed the two types in my P5B Deluxe and with memory remap on the BIOS recgonises all 4096MB but Windows Vista...
Might ask G.Skill over at xtremesystems dot org forums. They have a special G.Skill forum there. They could tell you why HK has tighter timings than HZ.
Side by side? Probably non-oc'd
Differences? "HZ" has micron d9gmh chips. see people running at greater than 1000MHz? yes that's the power of D9 and vicariously the HZ
These use Promos chips. If you're pushing an E4300 or just want better RAM, I'd get the G.Skill "HZ" series, or anything with D9
Otherwise, if this is for a non-overclocking workhorse, jump jump. Or get that Crucial for $35 a stick, it's probably D9 like the HZ
Now $115 shipped (at least to Arkansas)!
I FINALLY had to bite. I want 4GB (or whatever 32-bit Vista will give me...) and the most important thing is to get matching sticks now
Too bad I paid $260ish for a pair back in Feb!
Reboot bug exists on P5B Deluxe, only when changing something critical in the BIOS.
i.e.
1. Change critical setting (multi, FSB, memory timing)
2. Save and Exit
3. System powers off
4. System powers on (2-3sec)
5. System powers off
6. System powers on and doesn't stop
It doesn't...
This is a great card for 1280x1024 and lower. I should know -- I'm running one. Anything above that resolution with AA/AF and it becomes a pretty slideshow.
Damn I totally missed this, I have a TCBY less than a mile from my apartment. I'm a diehard HD forum reader too!
The thing about it is I was recovering some files tonight some lady erased, I did make $60, though!
Welcome my friends
To the thread that never ends
It's a hot deal slightly aged
Still warm like a 45-year old babe
Max I got was HTT311 on the 165 and I believe up to 325 on the Venice
I never pay Newegg restocking fee.
Call, or get on their online webchat thingie, tell them it was defective, provide RMA/Customer #, they will waive it.
Some of you people....
Might be able to unlock the X850XT to PE levels with a simple BIOS flash
I unlocked my X850Pro (12 pipe) to 16 pipe and overclocked beyond PE levels rofl
