2nd HDD not fully recognized in Vista

It wasn't vista... USB enclosured the thing and I still couldn't format it in XP. Had a noticable clicking every once in a while. RMA'd!!!! Seagate better be nice and quick about it or its WD from now on.

2nd HDD not fully recognized in Vista

I have this same problem with a fresh Vista 64 install.... 1. Two SATA drives. Bios sees both. Controller set as IDE. 2. After a hardboot, Vista can see the second harddrive. I attempt to format it through diskmanager and it either gets halfway or freezes, but it ultimately drops the...

In this thread we will keep a tab on Q6600 prices

NCIXUS - S/N: BX80562Q6600SLACR 08-01-07 Hopefully arrives tomorrow since I'm close enough to BC, Canada... Made my little nerd heart dance. Also, the rest of my rig came in today. Hurray weekend plans.

Vista 64 on external cased internal HDD...

Is this doable? I have a 32bit laptop and an external harddrive case containing a SATA harddrive. I would like to install a bootable Vista 64bit on it because then I will take the harddrive and use it as an internal desktop drive about a month in the future. I think it would just be...

    PSU Testing

I should have no issues plugging my PSU in and making the fans, harddrives and DVD burner spin to test everything out, correct? I am lacking anything in the mobo, CPU, etc department for now.... Just being overly cautious, don't want to hurt my baby... Thanks.

    What went wrong?

Just wanted to scope out opinions... I myself have a modded Xbox and would've probably stopped using it entirely if it wasn't for the media center compabilities that were added and the nostalgia of playing old-school games on a new console. So, the new features are definitely a plus, but...

    What went wrong?

In reading the new E3 coverage and keynotes and game annoucements, I'm seeing a pattern of all this excitement about the live arcade, about downloadable Disney movies, about virtual home environments, about expanding the marketplace so grandma can play bowling. But, I just can't help but...

I want Antec P182 but it's too tall.

The P182 has 4 little rubber feet that are a few centimeters tall. Cut those down a bit and don't use the spoiler, and voila.

    24" Monitor Recommendations

Input lag on the Dell 2407WP? I am leaning towards the HC and am curious as to the response time.

First Time Builder Critque My First!

Starting to sound like my build. Haven't built it quite yet... July 22nd can't come soon enough. Already have the P182B and I love it. And I'm pretty certain the PSU's with 120mm top fans blow INTO the PSU and out the back and not the other way around. Could back off on the PSU to the...

    ABIT IP35 Series

Anyone know if radial heatsinks ( blue orb, Zalman 7700 ) fit over the NB heatsink ? I know the giant towers have no problem and the Zalman 9500 fits... just curious about the radials.

A Build 2 Years in the planning...

Yea, its the minor stuff that adds up. Case, solid tv-tuner, a second harddrive. Anyways, final price will get determined when I finally buy the thing. I'll likely be too estatic to really care about a couple extra hundred. A few extra nights of Ramen as I watch a sweet movie on a sweet...

A Build 2 Years in the planning...

Eh, problem with the BenQ screen, 640mb GTS upgrade, etc is sliding over my budget. Now, a hundred or so is one thing. Hell, haven't even considered the roughly $200 dollars in tax/shipping alone. But, an extra 100 here and extra 70 there kinda adds up. And yea, I don't plan on touching my...

Welp, after considerations and talking and shopping, and realizing how much new stuff arrives in a month's time. Here is the system as it stands. Some stuff is stsill negotiable. OS: Vista 64 MB: Abit P35 Pro - Unless over the next month, a better board/price point arrives. Case: P182B...

    24" Monitor Recommendations

What are the input lags like on the BenQ and Dell ? I am also hunting for a good quality 24 and that seems to be the biggest con on screens this size.

A Build 2 Years in the planning...

I probably won't RAID, just from a disk thrashing perspective. I would rather give my tv-tuner card it's own disk to dump stuff to so it doesn't interfere with OS and program calls. As well as Photoshop swap files and easier dual boots, etc. I can always consider it later if I want to get...

Thanks for the advice all. Any suggestions on the Samsung 244t-BK vs the 245BW ? http://www.newegg.com/Product/...1222%2CN82E16824001234 Is the added price worth the extra flexibility in inputs and viewing angle ? I am getting a tv tuner card, but if this screen ever gets conscripted...

A Build 2 Years in the planning...

Now after finalizing everything, all I want do do it build it, not wait another month. Any suggestions on prime tv tuner cards that would not look terrible pumping to a 24 inch screen ? I will likely be dealing with standard analog cable. Maybe digital, but I doubt it. And from a future...

A Build 2 Years in the planning...

Welp, after going to a Best Buy and staring at a 22inch right beside a 24inch, it looks like I am going to treat myself to the bigger and badder screen. Seeing as this desktop will be with me for a while, I might as well. So, now looking at a Q6600 and a 24. Still sticking with the 8800GTS...

I was leaning towards the Samsung 226BW. I know nothing about the panel specifications. All I was looking for was a good response time and decent contrast ratio. Any suggestions?

A Build 2 Years in the planning...

I just don't see the benefit of the extra cores yet. I don't know what kind of possible processing tasks I could get into that would require it yet. Not many programs use multi-threading to its greatest potential yet. If it is within price range, I'll consider it, but I highly doubt I'll ever...

A Build 2 Years in the planning...

Two years ago, I started budgeting $2000 for a high middle-end PC. Now, I'm reaching the buying point and realizing $2000 can now get you a low high-end machine. I game occasionally, but nothing too intensive, mainly RTS. I spend a lot of time on photoshop and know how RAM hungry it can be. I...
