Stores asking for additional ID when using CC... I thought it wasn't allowed.

I work in retail, and am one of those people who asks to see an ID when handed any debit or credit card. If someone runs their card as debit and enters their pin, we don't need to see ID.. And technically, if a credit or debit card is signed on the back, we are not required to check ID, though...

    So, what IS Victoria's Secret?

Well, when I first started working there they showed me a bunch of videos and such.. on one of them they said that she invented the push-up bra. I don't really buy it, though.. I've heard quite a few times that a guy named Victor started a lingerie shop and thought the name "Victor's Secret"...

    Cavity questions!!!

Second opinion, always. One dentist told me my first visit there that I had four.. several reasons to leave and a new dentist later, he took new x-rays and saw only one... so a second opinion is wise. Good luck :)

    Cal Grant A..?

Sisq0kidd: Thanks so much, that makes a lot of sense now. :) Scott: Thank you! It's really just as sisq0kidd said, based on financial need and GPA, and didn't require "a big application effort"... the FAFSA really helped. I'm enrolled in UCSC and will be studying music and art (photography)...

    Cal Grant A..?

Alright.. I'm completely confused. In April I found out that I got enough in grants to cover tuition at my local UC (sweet!). About a month later I get the Cal Grant A and B application in the mail and sent it in. The other day I checked online and found out that I got the max amount ($6636)...

    Sunset Picture

I agree with Zenmervolt... think thirds when thinking composition. The sun was also too high for a good sunset shot, if it was lower there'd be more color (and interest) in the sky, and you'd have nice silhouettes.

    Normal to clean up levels?

Yeah, I've found that the filmy "layer" you remove by adjusting levels is normal. The only way to avoid it (at least, as much as you can), is to watch the histogram on your camera screen as you take the picture.

    Photoshop

I always use just PS, so I don't know what extra you use. My favorite tool in PS, though, is the Levels adjustment. Just by drawing in the slidebars in each channel (R/G/B) to the edge of the histogram data, the colors come out crisper and the lighting looks a lot better. By far it's the most...

    Critique this photo

It's a nice photo.. the only thing I'd do to it is make the horizon straight, that's distracting to me. As for the reccommendation of bracketing this picture, I think it would confuse the eye and look unreal. Obviously, the sky is the most interesting part, you don't need to show more detail in...

Anyone ever bought replica sunglasses online?

I haven't bought replicas, but I always (and I DO mean always) used to lose sunglasses. After my family discovered the power of Polarized sunglasses, they gave me money to buy a pair of my own for Christmas. I got a pair of Rayban (Polarized), and I think having paid so much for them, it keeps...

    So, you're a photographer?

I, too, am an amateur (dreaming of going pro). I use an Olympus C-755 Ultra Zoom (yah, baby). I loooove decaying things, broken things, pretty much anything people wouldn't take a second glance at. If you decide you're curious, take a look: http://flickr.com/photos/irishbells

Going to Las Vegas, is it worth it to see the grand canyon?

The Grand Canyon is just as it sounds. A really big hole in the ground. Not too exciting, but it does make you say, "Whoa." Look at it from all the angles you want, but it all looks the same to me..

what are your money saving tips??

This might be kind of silly... I tend to go to Starbucks a lot.. but I don't realize how much until I balance my checkbook. To keep it under control I figure out how much I'd be "okay" with spending on coffee per paycheck, then get a gift card for myself in that amount.

Photoshop gurus, I need your help

Actually, PS does pretty well for drawing in. I watched a scientific illustrator work on something in it and she really liked it, totally recommended it, too.. As for taking the white out, I'd do the Color Select, feather it a little, and then take out the white. Just remember that you can use...

Can your job force you to take a lunch?

Yeah, where I work if we don't take our break it's a good possibility the manager on-duty will be fired. They just want to make sure employees are getting the breaks and down-time they need during the workday.

    Buying a keyboard for college

There's a piano (keyboard) lab at my school, filled with Korgs. It's a concert series, so they feel similar to a real piano. Keys are nicely weighted, more than I've seen on other keyboards, and they sound pretty convincing, too. Good luck!
