why spend money on a sidegrade - even if you get the AM2 to overclock to around 2.5ghz - you wont even notice the difference - if you do want to spend money - then spend a bit more and get an E6300 and relevant mobo and ram - and you will see a difference worth talking about - especially if you...
AFAIK the amd setup is only going to work with socket F 1207 pin and specific FX cpu's designed to work with unregistered dims - so its gonna be server and workstation stuff with conventional ram - you wont be able to use 3800x2's at all in that configuration
so you will need to buy a very...
havent you guys ever heard of a shroud - a properly designed and executed shroud will be more efficient than just sticking your fans onto the rad IMHO - im not going to go into the reasons - its been discussed to death everywhere where people discuss watercooling - and ive tried both ways - the...
its very neat steve - i like it
yours is very neat too - im sure you can get a converter from ide to sata - thus you plug it into the back of the ide unit and it will give you a SATA port instead if im not mistaken abit used to make one called the serrilelII - since them im sure there are...
well where i live i can get rubber strips that fit over the edges - these are the type of things that old school modders used to use for casewindows - and these can form grommets - plus when i complete my mod all my cabling will be sleeved - so it minimises the risk of any cable getting pierced...
dude - you can drill some holes in the back of your case - and run those down under the mobo and then just route those behind the mobo tray - but if you do drill then remember to spray some tectyl to the drilled surfaces to prevent rust - that would depend on where you live ie coastal regions...
oval and square are boring - heres a pic of my homemade window - sure i had this lasercut - but at that time i wasnt confident of my ability with a dremel or jigsaw - now ill take the project on without having it lasercut - BTW the lasercutting job cost me around the equivalent of $20 ie im in...
Hi thats got a 3500+ with an msi neo4 platinum with 2 gigs of ram and all of that with a ati x300se (all of those parts are my spare rig
im probably going to remove and transplant my main rig stuff back in there - thats a more respectable setup
ie 4800+ cpu and asus a8n 32 sli deluxe with...
i must have done over 200 - i cant recall any mishaps with any beginning from the first one
200 is a conservative estimate - its probably far more - but id rather give a conservative figure then be accused of boasting - and no those were not all my pc's - lots of them were clients or...
heres what my case currently looks like - it will look different when im finished
sorry editted to add pic - not used to this forum yet - havent posted much here recently
interior
look guys this is all much ado about nothing - but for the people who havent read the manual yet heres a direct quote
"make sure to connect the EZPlug when using two pci express graphics cards and a 20-pin ATX power supply unit, or if the graphics cards do not have auxillary power plugs"...
its for pci express cards which dont have the pci express power connector
you are not meant to just plug anything in - unless your card doesnt have the 6 pin connector on the card
not too sure if you would be interested since abit is in trouble financially so support may become sketchy - but they have one as well ....... its called the A8N32X
but as ive said future support may be sketchy otherwise a decent mobo - havent seen any reviews on it yet - but i havent looked...
well quadcore is due beginning of 2007 and 8 core is due mid 2008 acording to both intel and amd's long term roadmaps - so i would say that soon yo wont see singlecore besides for as semprons and celerons and it wont take 5 years to phase those out if 8 core is available in two and a half years...
cool - no probs - latest bios is 1b as opposed to the second to last which ive stated above as 1.9 - so flashing to the latest would have all the older revisions included - hope it solves your problem
having a venice will not actually fix a limitation of the mobo - now its the mobo that is imposing its limit and not the cpu - so yeppers to answer your origional question - yes its the mobo
unless flashing to the latest bios makes the mobo recognise that you have a venice and ot a...
okay - sorry let me rephrase that - you will drop down in frequency if you have dual sided dimms and will only run at ddr333 if you have four double sided dimms and cannot run in ddr400 mode
heres the link to the website ...
you sure its still at dual channel - dont those mobos have the problem where if you run double sided dimms in all 4 slots then it defaults down to single channel and if you occupy all slots then you need single sided dimms for it to operate in dual channel
just check the table again on msi's...
well that might create a problem when you have to move them - or they may need to supply a new plug to use with the riser - may just add a bit to the costs - its easy to move jumpers
yep - synthdude is correct - the heatsink and also ram point upwards - cos when you remove all your old stuff that leaves space up there - go to the asrock website and have a look at the riser cards they have for their older boards then you will have a fair idea of how it works
i dont have...
my bad - i should have typed a 3000+ - but socket 939 semprons will be available when am2 comes out as well - was a mistake on my end - sorry bout that
and even though the 3000+ has been discontinued my supplier still has stock of those - but ill get the cheapest cpu i can just to have this...
yeah - some of those abit mobo's are still pretty decent - its a shame that abit used the incorrect marketting strategy - too much emphasis on uguru and using old fatal1ty for advertising and also placing too much emphasis on unneccesary items within the bundle that nobody would use instead of...
i would say pretty good - my abit nf7s v2 has died so i may just pick up one of these mobos and a sempron just to keep my 9800pro going as a secondary setup (just bought a 4800+ with a8n32 deluxe and sli 7800gtx {thats right 2} to replace old system)- and i may just invest in a riser card with a...
look - i dont mean to stir within my first few posts here - but i have a question for nitromullet - when you buy a setup - do you intend to just buy it for 6 months and just get rid of it and go for newer stuff - if not and you do really intend to keep it for a while as in two years or so wont...
well here in South Africa when you include our vat we are paying more like $280 for them when you adjust for the exchange rate - so you guys are getting them a fair bit cheaper - but at least we can get those
normally rare items like this we wouldnt get to see - but ive picked my one up...
the riser card that the cpu slot is in has the new memory slots - so the riser card will be around the size of a large graphics card like a 7800gtx or something like that - these should automatically override the older slots if it detects a riser card with new cpu - or will probably have an...
