Is xbit labs run by fanboys?

I'm fairly sure that Xbit labs is based out of Russia, some of the translations from Russian to English aren't particularly elegant at best. Gotta read over things two or three times before you get that "ah ha!" moment..

    nope, XP Sp2.. C2D X6800 @ 2.93, 4gig of RAM @ DDR800, default high settings, nothing particularly fancy.

To run Crysis at 19x12 on a single gpu

Uhh no? For a GTX, they're claiming 35.7 and 26.2 fps at 16x12 and 20x15, with 4xAA, I'm getting 25-28 with no AA.. 4xAA will put the average framerate in the high teens, pulling maybe the occasional low-20's, at best. So, yea.. I still think those numbers are somewhat optimistic. And...

To run Crysis at 19x12 on a single gpu

19x12, x16AF, high on 8800U runs nicely for me, hovers around 25-28 most of the time.. only time it really drops is when it's saving, and then it's only for a split second. And I also think those numbers are a bit on the high side.. unless they benchmarked while looking at the ground the...

9800 GTX, Will You Buy? With Poll!

No, not worth it for me. I run at 1920x1200, and where possible I like some AA & AF.

    9800 GTX Reviews Thread

I imagine it would help, but the near 50% bandwidth advantage of the Ultra will still make a significant difference. I've also noticed that G92 has 16 ROPs, compared to 24 in the full blown G80, but virtually none of the reviews have picked up on this. Is it that insignificant, or could this...

    9800GTX whoops an 8800Ultra

well, using the Crysis results from http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=247591 ... 1280x1024 no AA = 55.865 fps 1680x1050 8QxAA = 4.125 fps I ran the test on my rig (X6800 @ 2.93ghz & EVGA 8800 Ultra superclocked) at the same two settings and got: 49.885 fps (10.7% slower -...

Vista32- vs. Vista64-bit OS Showdown *Done!*

I wouldn't call 10.9% 'much faster', maybe 'almost noticeably faster'... and those results has nothing to do with gaming, nor 4GB of RAM.

probably, but it does what i need it to do.. so i'm not too worried right now :) edit - and your Q6600 is running a good 0.5 ghz faster than my X6800, and has the benefit of two more cores :)

    how'd you figure more bandwidth? New GTS:- 1940MHz @ 256 bit = 60.625GB/sec Stock Ultra:- 2160MHz @ 384 bit = 101.25GB/sec last time I checked, 101 > 60..

    Xbitlabs review is up

I know it's theoretical :) Just playing a spot of devil's advocate. ;) a couple months ago you had a number of people crying doom and gloom re. the power consumption "oh it has a 6 and 8 pin connector, it'll suck up 270w etc etc" and needing your own personal fusion reactor to get the...

Looking for options ... p4 Abit IC7 AGP MB is bad ...

4000+ is/was the highest PR-rated single core A64. ($60 from newegg) The original X2 lineup were all S939, thus with a bios update, should work with nForce3 mobo's.. but, they're getting a little scarce these days.

Looking for options ... p4 Abit IC7 AGP MB is bad ...

IF you can find one, an FX57 is IIRC the fastest single core AMD. The you have to try to find one of the S939 mobo with AGP, likely nForce3 based..

call me a cynic, or whatever - but if you finished the game ages ago, and aren't sure which lvl that location is on.. how can you possibly know that light patch isn't there? if you can provide a pic backing up your claim.. fair enough, but otherwise, i'm dubious.

This whole R600/G80 benchmarks thing is nonsense.

well, i don't own a copy of HL2, and i'm at work anyway - so i couldn't possibly look for myself! Any chance of a screenhot to back it up? I personally didn't notice it until it was ringed, and even then it's barely noticeable - either way, it's hardly a game breaking matter.
