First thing I do with digicams is use only center focus point. You don't wantt he camera to decied where the focus should be. Use focus-recompose if you need to off center your subject.

Even when using XP, you should put 4GB. Of course not all of it will be used but you doing large pano so anything above 2GB should help by not going to scratch disk.
Also how fast these raptors compared to regular SATA II drives? Wouldn't be better to put separate drives for OS and PS scratch...
I just put together my new system using DS3 rev 3.3 and I just hooked up my Seagate 80GB SATA II drive to the Intel ICH8 port 0 and my Samsung SATA II DVD R/W to port 1. had no problem with windows XP Pro detecting these drives and doing the installation. I then updraded to SP2 using an external...

Yesterday I hooked up a spare 300GB IDE drive to the JMicron IDE controller and it worked fine without any drivers. But I haven't tried setting up the IDE as my system drive. I have seen lot of folks have issues with this. Wish I knew before I bought the board.
Have you tried loading the...
Carrying 2 is pain IMHO. BTW - Once you get used to something like Treo, it is hard to go back. You can reply to boss emails while sitting on the beach. Only wish they make them thinner.
Just looked at CPU temps reported by the BIOS and they were under 29 deg. C. Fan remained off when I had the computer ON for short time. Will do more thorough testing over the weekend.
Just put together my first system using E4300 on DS3 rev 3.3 board. When I turned it on, the CPU fan wouldn't come on. I was scared but then read online that CPU fan would come on only when needed. It did come on for short time when I was installing WinXP. But it remained off when I was updating...
Damn they getting cheap. Went to local Fry's and they had no deals on any HD. Hoping deals come back to B&M over this weekend. Would love to get 500GB for $100.
Do I just connect it to the PS or to the SYS_FAN connector on the MB? My case Cool Master Mystique has an additional fan on the front for hard drives. Where do I connect that? Sorry if these questions sound stupid. Building for the first time.
Trying to put together my brand new system but the power supply seems bad. The fan doesn't turn and my system didn't boot up. So I disconnect the PS and and tried turning it on couple of times. The PS fan still won't turn and when I measured voltages they all read 0 volts. So I am assuming PS is...
Why not? I am just asking. I in process of building a new rig for photoshop. Fromw hat I gather using SATA II drives should improve performance over older IDE drives (assuming they were on same IDE controlelr) as now I can put my drives on separate SATA channels.
Going to order this DVD drive for my new system
Samsung
Will I be able to install windows XP by just installing the XP CD into this drive? I keep hearing from some folks that you need to have SATA drivers installed before it recognize the DVD drive.

4 SATA drives
Cheap video card. Going to OC but no games. Only photoshop work. What kind of PS would be enough for me? I heard about FSP being good. Looking for something <$50 if possible.
Putting a new system together. Would be either
AM2 3600+
TForce 550
or
E4300
Gibabyte DS3
Need to decide about the video card. No gaming on this machine. Any recommendations for cheap card
Thanks bruceyg.
Plan is to do some OC but not too much. Stability is more important. Whatever I buy will be junk in a yr or more. So, I am just trying to save some money.
