    15 year old shot and killed

    It's obvious that the family is in grief, which is why they don't understand the gravity of the situation. In time, after their sorrow subsides, they may see that the man only did what he had to. But, in the mean time, their grief won't let them see reason, and they may never see reason...

    Is buying a dual core processor too limiting?

    Another point to make, processor handling shouldn't be handled by the game, it should be handled by the OS. The game should only make requests of the system, and the system should decide how to handle it. That's why Microsoft implemented HAL in the first place isn't it?

    I think it's from not blinking. Civ doesn't require as much focus and attention as FPS games. Blink once in a while and keep your eyes moisturized, take a break at least once an hour.

    BF2 on non-Admin accounts

    I have been playing BF2 on my admin account, and now I've set up non-admin accounts for everybody in the house. When I run BF2 it always asks me for admin p/w, even though it's set to run as admin for all users. When I check properties, the run as admin option is unchecked, but if i check...

    Is buying a dual core processor too limiting?

    I really don't see how they can make games that REQUIRE quad core chips for years to come. If they did that, their customer base would be so small, they'd have to charge 150-200 dollars to make a profit. They will continue to make games to feed the masses and deal with the current limitations...

    Is it just me, or is Vista remarkably faster?

    Actually, the indexing starts within a few minutes of installing, according to Microsoft, and should only take 15-30 minutes.

    I now have a reason to dislike Vista

    Right click the file, properties, advanced button on the general tab, then uncheck the 'Index this file for faster searching' option...and that took me all of 30 seconds to figure out.

    VC++ 2005

    There's a guy that works at my company who still programs in Fortran. That's something I'd like to learn someday since it's a low level language. I've heard it's 10 times harder than C to learn.

    VC++ 2005

    So, I guess that means my school, which advertises that they teach today's skills for tomorrow's jobs, are actually teaching yesterday's skills for the jobs that were filled today. This is how they taught us C programming just a year ago. Thanks for the info guys... Oh, and should I use...

    VC++ 2005

    Ok, so I learned VStudio 6.0 in college, went and bought VS05 lateley and I'm trying to come to terms with the subtle and not-so-subtle differences. I created a simple console application in C++ that prints a line of text to the console. It went a little something like this I got a build...

    Audigy 2 in Vista FYI

    Installing Audigy 2 ZS in Vista, you need to check your sound settings and make sure it's set to 24 bit instead of 16 bit. For some reason it defaults to 16 bit and on my system it kept dropping sound in half the applications I ran.

    Problem with Video card?

    I've had some problems similar to that along with a persistent video driver crash. Couple of questions, are you using Vista and do you have Dreamscene running? If so, try removing the dreamscene, as I have had no crashes since removing mine.

    password locking windows xp after booting without login screen?

    Things in the startup folder have to have a user logged in don't they? I would suggest creating a user account without a p/w and have that as the default account to automatically log in. It seems there is an option for it somewhere, at least in W2K and XP there was.

    Vista Dreamscene

    Ok, I was getting constant "display driver has crashed and recovered" errors, 26 in the last 2 weeks. I couldn't get any reason for it from event viewer, but kind of traced it back to putting a Dreamscene on my background. I changed the background to a normal one, and the errors have stopped...

    Friend punched out a girl

    I've always heard, if she's man enough to throw a punch, she's man enough to fight. And, to clear up any confusion, it's not okay to hit a lady, but if she's taking punches, she's no lady. Also, I have met a lot of girls who wouldn't hesitate to slice you up, and I wouldn't give any of them a...

    Considering lowering my car

    Why does nobody ever pimp bicycles? Lowering cars is a waste imo, and it ruins the car. Plus, you can't go where I go if you lower your vehicle. And, putting the wagon wheels on a car does NOT look good. Lowering your car rates about as well as making a camaro 4WD and jacking it up...on...

    I'm assuming you're running Vista. I have a wireless laser mouse and it does the same thing, but I thought it was because of the wireless part. Sometimes it'll just stop moving for a few seconds, like it's not getting a signal, sometimes it does weird things like scrolling all over the place...

    VS2005

    So I just recently purchased VS2005, and I'm reading about the changes in VB2005 from 6.0. It seems that they took everything that makes VC++ 6.0 so good and implemented it into VB. Is VS going to eventually be just one language?

    Is Antivirus necessary on Vista 64

    Has anybody used Avast Premium? I've downloaded Avast home and I'm liking it so far, and just thought, paying $120 bucks for 2 licenses for 3 years is a whole hell of a lot better than say $450 for Norton's for the same amount of time.

    Wanted: good FPS game with great cooperative team play

    NOLF 2 has a pretty good coop game that is fun to play. You have to perform certain tasks, like build the doomsday device. This involves searching for and retrieving components of the device, and enemy team can steal them from you.
